  1. Tower shields no, logically should NOT give any offensive bonus at all. They are made to block blows from the enemy, nothing more (maybe keep the rain off your head). Look at the Obby Shield, it is [bleep]ed...a smaller more versatile shield which could also be used to "smite" into an enemy as well as deflecting blows. Less defense then a Dragon Square with an added attack bonus - exactly as it should be (attack as in providing a tactical advantage to attack the enemy, not ATTACK stat...I had to say that, people are naive here). Defenders follow the same pattern. The only defense comes from the ability to parry incoming blows, and it is obviously used as an offhand offensive weapon as well, even more so then an Obby Shield. If anything, the Dragon Square should provide a MUCH greater defense value then it does now. There is no reason having something so rare (as a drop at least) become completely written off as merely a decorative armor piece now. As rare as the drop is anyways, value could EASILY been restored if the Dragonfire shield included the much rarer square instead of a shield which is freely obtainable. The "visage" itself should have provided the protection from the dragons' breath and the extra bonuses.
  2. Most intelligent post I've seen in ages. Couldn't agree more.
  3. There might have been an update with the spiritual ranger drops. I've had my fair share of these as slayer assignments so I know what to normally expect from them, but then again this could have been an extremely lucky fluke. ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ The bowstring that they drop is now noted (a good thing, I always wished to myself that it was) ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ Occasionally, the oak longbows(u)(12) will drop noted as well, as well as dropping in unnoted form.
  4. Yeah I don't think I ever did that before the so called fix. It's always drained prayer when I do it, but if you get the timing down it just drains it extremely so, meaning one prayer point can last for a few dragons. I'm interested in knowing what it was like before Jagex fixed anything...did it just never drain your prayer at all?
  5. With the gloves on, the selling price will lower and the buying price will raise. This only works at the weapon/armor shop and the gem shop though and not the rune shop. The selling price for runes will always be the same (from what I remember). While wearing the Karamja gloves, an onyx will cost you 260k tokkul instead of the normal 300k. If you sell an obsidian cape with the gloves on, you will get slightly over 20k tokkul.
  6. You know that a 99 cape untrimmed is the same as an obby cape, right? Just a bit weird how the 2nd best, and 4th best capes have the same stats. I'm writing this purely without a notion of monetary value. NOT TRUE. Trimmed cape has a prayer bonus...obby dosn't? Major differnceover here... He said UNTRIMMED skillcape. Read before you post. Must I state the obvious... A skillcape costs 99k. How much does an obby cost? 200-300k And skillcape is cooler and easier to buy. -- BTW, for MidnightHarvester, I think ur post is kidna hijacking, but idk. Also, how long ago was your vid made? That trick no longer works. I wasn't trying to hijack anyone's thread and sorry if it seems that way. I edited the post and taken out the method I use. There are many metal dragon guides out, and I wanted to give another method that exists for meleeing that I have never seen written out anywhere and that I have up until now only shared to a few friend. Maybe it's something unique that could be put into the guide to make it stand out. As far as this method not working anymore, I just made that video at the end of last week. The better you get at timing when to turn it on and off affects how much prayer will be drained. That's how I do almost all of my slayer tasks.
  7. That doesn't work any more, Jagex changed it so it'll drain prayer now anyway. OT: Very nice guide. Well written, original topic and -best of all- useful. It still works ... works like a charm to be exact. Just filmed this not that long ago.
  8. Edited...sorry, I wasn't trying to hijack anybody's thread. Was just showing a unique method that could have been added to make the guide more unique.
  9. Your input is utterly pointless... -.- I mean, really who cares? On topic; This update is long over-due. Many players have fallen subject to scams and been unable to report them because their name consists of both O's and 0's ...Sorry for expressing my opinion  This Forum is to post constructive rants, replied to with constructive criticism. That post was not constructive, nor helpful. You seem to be making use of the Copy/Paste function, as you've posted the same the same thing on about 4 different posts. And you happen to think this rant is about anything constructive? A rant complaining about a zero? Of all things... I could understand maybe if they made the zero look like a giant pink fluffy glowing doughnut with advertisements flashing around the sides of it for Nike Rune Jordans...HELL YEAH now see that might go somewhere. It's a number, the number zero has appeared like that for ages. I swear if Jagex changed the login screen so that the input text box for the username was shifted over by 5 pixels to the left of where it normally would be, someone would be fighting to log into their forum of choice to say how completely ugly or wrong it looks. They don't have an emoticon for how hard I am laughing at reading that people actually care so much over a zero. Looks just as good to me...I can still make out that it's a zero just like I always have been. It doesn't interfere with anything at all. Not like it's strange to look at I see zeros that look like that daily elsewhere... =D> Continue with the quality rants! =D>
  10. Anyone who has ever mined iron at the gates to Pictoris will see implings constantly. There are spawns over there. One is in the woods just north west of the iron ore. When I powermine iron I go there with a net and impling jar and hunting potion. I have caught everything from baby implings to dragon implings there, and a new one spawns soon after I catch one. What spawns is random. There is a greater chance a lower level impling will spawn, but anything is possible. There's another good spot near the yew and magic trees in the gnome stronghold. They are strategically placed in areas people train other skills at. I love how some people are masters at throwing random figures in the air.
  11. Master Smither, calm the hell down, it is only an altar that gives an alternative way to train...there is no CRAZY EXP gains going on here. If you think 20k-30k exp per hour is making the runecrafting cape cheap then that's a personal issue on your part. In every Z.M.I. altar post you are the poster boy of the person having a ridiculously unfounded rant over something but apparently not giving any reason. You do realize this is not the pest control of runecrafting don't you? Are you working for a company going out of business over this or something? You seem like a smart guy so I don't think that's the case...maybe you work in a company that might be hurt by this update? I don't get how working for a company or crafting here is any different...you are paying or mining your pure essence and crafting it. The experience is comparable ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ your rant is what exactly again? Have you bothered reading through Qeltar's VERY thorough thread that is hanging near this one in the forum? All the data presented there is completely comparable to what I have experienced. I never heard you crying about any of the companies people worked for Master...
  12. I like this altar. I don't like having to join into a business (and the insane nonsense that goes on behind closed doors...if you have been there you know what I'm talking about) or hire runners just to level something at a decent rate. This has just given an opportunity to level runecrafting to it's potential without relying on runners or having to stand around wearing a "shop" uniform. For profit, use the abyss. For experience, use the Z.M.I. altar. For insanity, use a Runecrafting official world "shop". "But those who worked harder for it deserve the recognition more and this will just make more capes and make it easier for everyone to get" ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ False. Those with a high level or 99 already (most) have used runners and have gotten the same/greater experience per hour. This is still a slow skill to level which many people will just not have the patience for, it's not like you can pull in 200k experience an hour here. Runecrafting in my opinion has just became more rich and fully textured with the addition of newer ways to level. This update is not the Pest Control or Pyramid Plunder of runecrafting, so do not fear. Edit: Meaning, if the point was lost...there will always be people crafting for profit and not merely only experience so no I don't think this is much of a blow to Runecrafting Pk'ers at all. I think they will need to step their game up though because those who are easier to kill will most likely be leveling at the Z.M.I.
  13. Runes You can not use the alter without completing LD. It is a Moon clan alter. The altar belongs to the Zamarok Mage Institute (hence Z.M.I.), not the moon clan. The moon clan only has unlocked a rift allowing access there via teleport. Completing Lunar Diplomacy only allows access to this rift. The altar is for all to use.
  14. Yeah put me in that category of those who have killed them since the day of the update and the most I ever got was ONE dragon skirt... I'm getting rather jaded on getting any good drops...anywhere...oh no let me take that back I can get you 10 lava battle staffs a day, where to spend all the money at :wall: I wouldn't waste my time hunting them too long for a visage if I was you. Go there for slayer tasks if you want to, go there to level mage or range or prayer...hell go there in hope of a dragon skirt or leg drop. Just don't go there thinking you will get a visage. You might sure, seems a lot of people get them but also seems a lot of the same people who try daily to get one come out with nothing, when those who go down there for the first time get a good drop or visage. In Diablo II I could farm Hell Meph all day long and the drop rate system made more sense. Here it seems if you log out then back on it will affect what you get, or how many people are logged in, or if you cleaned the house...hell I don't know... Good luck. Edit: I don't want to hear the system is random, I'm starting to really believe it isn't. All day today I had the same two slayer tasks back to back. I would get 150-199 brine rats assigned...and if I did those or burthoped I would get 159 Jungle Horrors. Now I always Burthope those. Well, the same two tasks continued all day until earlier when I stopped with slayer. I hopped worlds, I did the tasks, I skipped them, I went to Chaeldar and did one of hers then went back....no still got 159 Jungle Horrors every other time and then brine rats. Very random, the odds of that happening with all the other combination of slayer monsters to choose from is about as rare as getting a visage... HA no visage but I gave up on slayer... As you can see not a good day...Ok I'm done feeling better now that thats out :P Night All!
  15. I tried the pyramid for fun because I had never been there before and at agility level 78 I managed to fall twice ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ then I said to myself that I was not having a good time...then walked and sold my gold trinkets for cash and then ran back to Sophanem. Ape Atoll is out of the question. You can try if you want to but you will soon be cursing in foreign tongue. Brimhaven will be your best choice until you can use the wilderness course. Have fun, because this can be the highlight of your agility career. Dress to impress, master the layout of the course...anything to keep your mind off of failing an obstacle right as you get to the pillar you need to tag, only to realize once you climb back up that it has changed. The go run around in circles at the wilderness course until level 70. Not that boring actually. Then you can goto Ape Atoll and instead of cursing from falling all the time, you can curse in an entirely different mannerism out of complete boredom after the novelty of running around as a ninja monkey wears off. As of now when I start agility training again, I think I'm going to divide my time between Ape Atoll and the Dorgesh course to combat the boredom. Dorgesh is much more engaging and therefore less boring but when you fail an obstacle, you have to start all over again.
  16. Another way to approach Barrows is to basically kill only Ahrim and Karil in the crypts, then use the safe spots within the tunnels for the remaining melee brothers. Now is this faster? Problem is spawning the brothers can take a long time. A good tactic would be to just use the approach outlined earlier, where you pray on Dharock and use the leftover prayer on the brothers you find the toughest to kill (differs between players...most find Karil and Verac to be other brothers that can dish out damage fast if you aren't careful). Finish your run. I find Ahrim is easily handled with dragon hides/karils and karils crossbow. If you have food left, then begin the run over again but this time leave Dharock to kill in the tunnel using a safe spot. Repeat until you are out of food then go replenish your prayer and inventory and begin again.
  17. Hey, I agree with you all the way, four blue dragon hides is what two minutes to get. You came in being respectful and and wasn't shown any in return. I applaud you for taking all 24 hides. I'm not going to show anybody any respect either if they show none. Looking at your stats I can tell you can be self sufficient, and the fact you took the time to go there to get your own hides says a lot. I question why you would go there though among the other available locations where it would have been easier to get a kill or just have world hopped, but I understand that you went to the guild because you was off to do your clue and wanted to get the hides as fast as you could. You asking for a quick two minutes of their time and they refused just over 8 thousand gold is petty, it is common, and to me the ones being the beggars were the ones there who declined his open offer. They were just being arrogant and rude and I have absolutely no respect for anyone using the N word at all in that manner. For as far as they know, he could have rewarded them far greater then what eight hides could have gotten them...I know because I am like that all the time to those who are stand up players. There are generous people out there still, don't give up the battle and continue fighting the good fight! =D> Edit: I take your side in thinking even though you gave them what they deserved (not for not giving you the hides but for acting childish)...that you yourself showed dignity and grace in your style when sending them to their corner...if not I take back what I just said.
  18. Roswell hit the nail on the head. Sure the game is about the grind, about patience and maybe a lucky day here or there...but there are small nuances you pick up on the more you experience the full world and the more you play. Small nuances that allow you to take advantage of a situation in a better light then someone else less experienced...lord I should not have said that. Jagex might read this and notice that those who have played the game longer might have an unfair advantage and ban them... =D> I couldn't agree with Roswell anymore.
  19. I really, and I mean this to anyone who is against the 'far casting" idea, hate to put down a group of people...but if anyone is so ignorant to think a mage is going to sit in the front lines of a battle and just say "Hey Mr. Barbarian, I'm going to stand in front of you and cast uber powerful spells, but since I'm physically weak it's ok, you will kill me fast"... Get a life anyone who thinks this. Whoever started the far casting fiasco needs to be hung from his manhood upside down from two trees and have each stretched far. That's like saying to a warrior that he is close hitting, since he is standing next to you. He has a sword for 's sake... You close hitting noob! Why do you get so close where your sword can hit me! N00b!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! With all the sarcasm in the world I am 100% positive in every movie you have seen Merlin is right there with Arthur on the front line and not up on a hilltop somewhere... #-o And yes...the post is meant to make fun of anyone who complains about far casting and ridicule them for being a poor excuse for an intelligent being. For christ's sake Koko the Ape has an IQ of 90 and would even realize mages are not meant to stand in front of a sword... If the only excuse anyone can come up with is "it makes Pking less fun and it wastes resources blah blah whine" then ya know, you need to enter the special olympics where everybody wins a medal. If you were RIGHT, then there would be no mages in the game or at least allowed to fight in the wild.
  20. Drop trading isn't permitted to help protect the in game economy that has been developed. It's just not Runescape, many other games look down on having "mule" accounts. If everybody had unlimited access to store whatever they wanted, there would be an outflux of items and raw materials from the player based market, effectively completely changing the economy as we know it now within the game. So in essence, it's a mechanic of the game itself and the game is designed so you only have finite room to store your items, causing you to make choices on what to keep and what to sell or destroy. Those who drop trade are taking advantage of a flaw shared in MMORPG's ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Ãâ if you can trade items then it will be possible to trade them to your other accounts as well.
  21. Tip.It has been the only fansite I've had an account with until I started running a shop here in the forums. I created a RuneHq account so I could get access into one of our sister shops there. It looks decent enough but loads entirely too slow for my tastes. I've trolled around in the Zybez forums but found the community here at Tip.It to be more to my liking, better fitting my attitude. I don't try to take myself too seriously... And considering Tip.It is very comprehensive with it's content, religiously updated and concerned with the integrity of the information presented, and concise and easy to navigate, I am happy to call it my home. And I won't get started about the RSOF. Besides the obvious rants, having to log back in every 10 minutes is nerve wracking. Bless the clan I'm in for being understanding and thank god for clan chat, because they are lucky to get me to post on there and would never hear from me otherwise :P
  22. I do believe this is what you are looking for ... and indeed, there have been updates to the game that need to be reflected in this guide considering it's in the archives. D's Guide to 1-Item Objects (AOW)
  23. Guess you could always fight the ones at God Wars and by the time you need to pray hope that you have a kill count of 40. Then you can run into a boss chamber and pray that you survive long enough to make it to the altar and pray and get out alive :P So technically that should answer your question. The ones at God Wars are the closest Hellhounds to an altar. Since you have 71 hit points you could swim across the river to the ones in the Zamorak camp and kill the hellhounds there. Wear Zamorak chaps or an unholy symbol or book, or cape and you won't get attacked. When you are down on prayer, make your way to the boss door and turn protect from melee on and run like a special olypmian to the altar and pray and run out again. Edit: Actually not very far fetched and a viable alternative now that I think more about it. Before you begin fighting try to find a world where there are large teams already fighting K'ril. That way you should be able to make your way to the altar and back without taking too much damage, if any. And to answer your other question about other monsters close to an altar that drop level 3 clue scrolls. If you have access to Lletya, you can train on the Elf Warriors there with prayer on the entire time and there is an altar just upstairs. But looking at your stats ignore that because you don't have access...my bad :-$
  24. I think we have enough proof that multiple people can be participating at the same random event and the point has been driven home. :wall: Here's my opinion about the main point of this thread though. There are two ways to look at this and truly we can only speculate as to which Jagex has decided to implement. The first way to view it is, since multiple players can be partaking in the "enjoyment" of a random event at the same time, that the number of players on a given server is not a variable in the calculations that affect whether or not you get a random event. Everyone can either be in Falador spamming their sales pitches, or everyone can be at the mime looking like fools. It doesn't affect the server load at all. Therefore for those in this camp, the random events are "attached" to the player and not the "population". If you are in a casino, then you are playing the slot machines. You could have 2 other players in the room, or 100, but those players do not affect your chances on that machine at all. The second way to view things is to (logically so at first) believe that since there are less people online in that world, the chances of a "global" random event happening to you increases. This is more like walking into a party where they are giving out door prizes. The less people who attend means the larger of a chance you have to win something. Personally, I think it's more attached to the player and that the amount of people on the server makes no difference. The main factors that affect if you get a random is how long you have been in one place doing one activity. When you are in combat for 45 minutes straight then you go to high alch a drop, I can almost guarantee you that no matter how many people are online, you will get a random. My views at least... :P
