Increased random activity
The gems sure I'm not complaining on that but I could easily have just teled to shilo gem mine and gotten all I needed. I don't need gems. It is detracted me from what I do and in all honesty I can care less about autoers and macroers or whatever lazy idiot is using a program to gain something in an online game. For as far as I care at the moment it keeps prices down and I make money through means that people cannot automate so it doesn't bother me but yeah man there has been a lot more randoms and it takes away from the fun of the game for me at least. I won't sit here and deny it doens't because it does. I care less about gems or anything else they can give me. I don't need the RARE half key drop I can get that from training like I was in the first place. I do have serious problems with Molly showing up though when I have sat here and killed a certain monster for weeks on end for a high end drop and being teleported away after killing the monster and the last thing i see is "draconic visage" before I leave. Just to come back and have NOTHING there... yeah ok I'm just a little jaded at the moment :wall: ÃÆÃ

Increased random activity
I am complaining and it's pissing me off. I was smithing mithril plates today at the blast furnace and every single time I clicked on high alch for the first time I got a damned kidnap random (ok not everytime sometimes MOM showed up instead). Yeah I am complaining the only people not complaining are those trying to stand tall and pretend that they don't care, I cared because I was in the middle of a conversation everytime. I'm not going to take the highground on this one because it has really ticked me off today. To make things worse half the times I have killed Mithril Dragons I get an evil chicken random halfway through and had to STOP killing the dragon to go kill the damned chicken, or vise versa. We all need to stop being so freaking randomed. Edit: If you only got 4 in one hour you got lucky, it's more like 1 every 8 minutes whenever I'm trying to train something and it REALLY takes me out of the moment and I have gotten a Molly before and ... well won't get into it but lost something really nice that I earned.

The Illogic of Brutal Green Dragons
Voldmort0, if you get a Green Dragon assignment then either Greens or Brutal Greens work fine. On topic, I did find it a bit odd that the Brutal Greens don't drop them, but I'm not losing any sleep over it. The dragons in this cave are among the oldest and most intelligent of the dragons - hence being able to attack with magic based attacks. My opinion is that with all the controversy and confusion that occurred when the draconic visage made it's appearance, Jagex just decided it would be easier in the long run to just not have the brutals drop the visage. It had to be drilled into people's heads that the only dragons that dropped it were adult blacks, higher level metals and the king black. If this "green" dragon dropped it imagine the confusion that would ensue from people now thinking that normal "greens" dropped them as well. Just take a look over at the RSOF and you can easily see that a great number of players would not be able to grasp this concept without having their hands held :wall:

Haunted mine quest question
What killed you.. Was it the mine carts and the cranes, or was it his range attacks? Analyze what was hitting you the worst and find a way to overcome it. The first time I went in there I died as well and lost a good deal because I went in gung [garden tool] with max ranged defense gear on and a mine cart owned me.... lol ok sad but true. I lost over 2mil in items from that mine cart. I took a step back and realized that I could probably manage the ranged attacks on their own and just keep my distance from him which I did and I used mage to kill him. He will teleport to certain areas and each of those areas you should be able to mage or range at without taking damage from mine carts, and most of the time minimal damage from the cranes. Keep your distance and stay aware of your surroundings and I'm sure you will get his [wagon]. Only boss I've died to in all the quests. I hated him.

Ring of wealth?
Ring of wealth will help you to a small degree, point made case closed. The methods of determining drops with a ring of wealth have been disclosed by jagex and they are and have been posted on recent threads. A "wheel" spins so to say that has all the drops on it and a spot for rare drops. If it lands on the rare drop slot, then that's when your ring of wealth kicks in to give you a better chance of getting the best drop of those. Whatever armor you wear will not affect your drop, nor will anything else. It has been questioned though that when the wheel lands on the "rare" spot, then what exactly jagex considers a rare drop. That seems to be the debate at the time. Problem is Kid A comes in and says he killed Kalphite Queen and got a chain in 20 kills without the ring on then says he hasn't gotten any with the ring on. There is no logic behind their claims because they are only making assumptions about what worked best for them when they just got lucky. The ring of wealth only gives you a slightly better chance of better rare drops and the difference is very small that it shouldn't spark so much of a debate, but the same goes with other games such as Diablo II where everybody thought that having too much of a magicfind bonus penalized you. In all honesty you probably won't notice much of a difference with or without the ring on, and I wish a thread would get stickied explaining this or where a central discussion on the topic could be contained but I'm not about to go start one because again the increase in chance is so minute while wearing a ring that I don't really understand the cause to this entire debacle. So many people will go around stating things as fact that in reality is just perception on their end. I read an interesting post today where someone was saying a dragon chain was not a rare drop because it was listed under Armor and not Misc. Well to burst his bubble that's just the organization of listing drops and not how things work, but hey he said it was law so it must be right? Just keep in the back of your mind a 20% chance on a .01 or less drop is not much and won't make or break you either way.

A red bird's egg
Abyssalwhip, really you did nothing to contribute to the author's question except be condencending. A simple "it's in the game for a future use, but currently it has no use" would have sufficed. It's in the game but currently has no use. Hang onto the egg if you think it might profit you in the future, otherwise drop it if you need the bank space. Who knows when or if those will ever even come to play in any way that is useful...

Baxtorian Fishing and the Herblore Advantage
I'd like to say that I tried world hopping gathering defense pots and the time spent collecting isn't worth it, BUT as you say those unused pots we use for leveling are perfect. That's what I've been doing with the caviar and I think using on my hunting pots and magic essence pots would be a good one or two levels of herblore with little effort. Hey, you get to level agility, strength, fishing and herblore at once. I can imagine agility mixes being a good sell for those training agility, and I know that's what I'll be using. Healing plus the extra bonus of the agility bonus is great and it heals an almost perfect amount (3-6). Take a full load on the course and its, well almost what this update was made for. Loads of new ideas here, I'd like to hear more.

Brainstorming Session: Elminating autoers from coming back
Jagex can already use API to scan and see what other processes are running at the same time as Runecape. What they need are dedicated players with a keen eye towards research to provide them the names of executables that are running in regards to programs that sniff packets etc etc. I am sure (as being Microsoft Certified and a programmer) this is what they use at the moment to determine from reports on who is actually using third party programs to assist in their leveling, profiting, whatever. They just need to be updated constantly by us the players who can get ahold of such information as to what executables to look out for and THEY need to actively scan for such programs and not just wait until somebody makes a report and be a bit more proactive. As far as gold farmers, that's a tough one to crack. Until WE as a whole stop buying from them (which is often hard because who is a gold farmer, right?) then the problem there will persist. I just wonder how many of these sites advertising gold for real money actually are sites set up by Jagex. I would never chance it and personally if you need to spend real cash for for an item then the point of the game is wasted on you to begin with. The hard work and time put in means more then just being able to walk around showing off an item you bought with mommy's allowance she gave you.

How much has changed for you?
*Sits next to Cryptogram, wearing his handknitted sweater grandmother made him and tilts his head to the left and smiles, while reaching into the bag of Werther's Original* Papa, tell me again how huge player vesus player battles would roam from city to city... papa tell me about having to walk to the mines through 3 feet of snow with no shoes on... Oh, best update, what changed for me ... Becoming a member back in late December of last year changed my entire viewpoint of Runescape. Update wise, I love it all, the updates present something new to the table that wasn't there before and they make things interesting and everchanging. Things don't remain too stale or static here and that's what I enjoy.

Any use for the new potions?
Yes but your gonna ruin a helluva lot of valuable potions in the process. I like to sell my excess Supersets, Prayers etc. to pay for my secondaries. You wont be seeing me dumping fish fertiliser in mine! You dont have to do it on the most valuable ones...but i'v got a ton of fishing, and low level pots i've never used anyways.... :-w Exactly, and seeing as the new barbarian fishing area is going to be where the powerfishers fish at from now on (more experience), you could always fish until you have a full load of leaping salmon and sturgeon and then run back and deposit in the box at the Barbarian Outpost. After fishing for a while that is going to accumulate fast. Put a knife to those fish to collect the eggs, then find a cheap place to buy potions. Hell I guess even getting the potions at the warriors guild would work. Add in the fish eggs, and you get agility, strength, fishing, AND herblore experience from power leveling. Sounds good to me. I'm not complaining.

You only need the beard if you want to look tight, sorry for the confusion, was just me trying to have a sense of humor  Ginger, a small correction. For the Brutal Greens, they drop 8 rune thrownaxes, not 7.

Starting members quests?
I can say this that I wish someone would have told me. Save all your herbs you get even the ones you cannot identify at the time. It's so easy to just sell the unidentified ones for easy cash but it will come back to bite you I promise. The quest you need to do to start herblore is Druidic Ritual. Priest in Peril (edited, had wrong quest in mind) is a good quest as well because it opens up another section of the map to explore and both are very easy. If you have the stats do the quests they suggested above as well because they are very useful.

Meleeing Barrows
you can melee karil and ahrim no problem with those stats, and once you get comfortable try to melee torag or guthan and work from there

Fastest place to lvl firemaking?
Pay the trading sticks to get into the tai bo workout left jab right jab area and cut teaks and mahogany's and on full load just burn ... just another option, but pretty much just burning logs. Do barbarian training and use your bow instead of a tinderbox, burn shades, light the monastary on fire and watch the monks run out for their lives. :|

Starting members quests?
Probably the best thing to do is read this before doing anything as it's written with 20/20 hindsight in mind and highlights the areas you should focus in quite nicely, much more so then I could get into detail on. www.tip.it/runescape/?page=new_members_P2P_guide.htm

need a hat to match zammy robes
Black cav is way too played out I'm sure you agree man come on! Stick a iban staff on ya and dragon square and bald head and white beard and i'm sticking to it... if you are a disciple then you are a disciple dont stray from your roots, if you are wearing it then play the part!!!!! Least no one has said beret+mime mask (kinda creepy though if you ask me)

One more thing, the beard in my picture is mandatory. You cannot and i repeat CANNOT kill any mithril dragons or brutal green dragons without a [bleep]in'n white beard. I should have said that to begin with I'm sorry

need a hat to match zammy robes
I'm assuming from the bob in your name that you are a male character... how bout a bald head with a long beard *strokes beard and thinks*, sometimes less is more

Is Granite body better than runeplatebody?
Well best you will ever get is a tall statement considering I'm sure I would (with all stats being equal that is and all other equipment) kill someone in that with full torags but indeed, that is a lot better looking and honestly one of the better setups for day to day, so... +1

Best Method of Slaying Mithril Dragons?
Yeah, with using just antifire potions instead of a shield you might be hitting harder and through the defense, but you will be getting hit as said above more for not having a shield with you. It seems at least for the first day, Jagex found a way to balance this out pretty well. I haven't really seen one "definitive" way of killing mithril dragons yet. All have advantages but in the end seem to balance out. On top of that if you go in with full verac you will need to pray magic or you will get hit hard and lot with the penalties, and the melee with hit you still on top of dragonbreath passing the potion's effect. If you just pray melee with full verac on the magic will tear you open, trust me quite a few people were proud new owners of "verac's helm (0)" today. Edit: Actually honestly, I think I got better drops of death piles then the actual dragons today. I almost got a zerker ring but someone beat me to it, but I got the rune platebody, rune platelegs, and rune boots off the drop which leads me to wonder what else this guy was carrying with him to save over all of the above. Before then I also got two glories and one ring of wealth and quite a bit of food. I mentioned the verac helm (0) because two people I know got that off a death pile ...

Barbarian Training Drops Thread
I've tried two different styles. The first was melee heavy defense with verac brassy and torag legs and other gear and using protect from magic, which worked ok but I found this setup to work a little better. Shot at 2007-07-03 With this inventory, jump into the whirlpool and before you go down the first stairway use the dragon battleaxe special, take two sips from the super attack potion, then one sip from antifire potion then climb down and before you get into melee range of a dragon stick protect from melee on and just attack. Once your attack gets down 8-9 points from where its max was, sip super attack again. Continue this, sipping antifire when needed and eating when needed. Before you sip the last sip of super attack, use your dragon battleaxe special again and sip a super attack again. This gets me around 7-8 kills per run. I'm sure you can perfect this more, and taking super strength potions is an option but it just adds to the cost. This is my method at least. Edit: For Melee, I've been using this for mithril dragons as well and get around 4 kills a run, it needs perfection but what can i say... if you range then just substitute whip for rune xbow and bolts of choice and range pots for food, etc etc... not realy the right forum though for strategy so I'll leave it at that for now
