Its important that you get to know the kalphite queen first before you start reading this guide as it will be talking about stuff that is very in-depth and only through experience will you know most of the stuff I am talking about. Consequently, you can go to tip.it main website and read the official "Kaphite Queen Killing Guide" under the monster hunting section as a starter for this guide. +++++++++++++++++++ The Basic +++++++++++++++++++ The Kalphite Queen, as you may know it, is one of the strongest monsters in the game. And on of 2 monsters that drops the fabled Dragon Chain. The other is the Dust Devil which requires 65 slayer, but drops the Dragon Chain less frequently. ===Statistic=== Kalphite Queen Level: 333 Hits: 255 MAX hit: 31 (Giver or take 1, personally she hates me so I seen this alot) JaGeX: 6x6 (Give or take...wait no take, 1) =============== WVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWV Routes WVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWVWV These are the routes you should take when you have killed the queen. Ardougne Route -Not as effecient, either walk to bank and use glory or dueling ring. Cammy Route -Used by people that just doesn't have high enough construction for altar at home. Lumby Route -Used by people that do not want to bring a glory while fighting kq, altar is right next to tele spot, but a long talk awaits. -Another most commonly used route, since many players can't make house tabs until 67 construction, 64 if you use saw, or pot. In another case, you can just recharge your prayer here and then al karid teleport to alkarid. -Dueling ring can tele close to the shantay pass, an alternative then al karid teleport with glory. Lair Route -Fastest way to Kalphite Lair @NOTE@ the best route is a tab toward your house, then charge prayer on your altar, tele to al karid using the charged glory your wearing, or the one hanging in the quest hall. +++++++++++++++++++ Inventory\Gear +++++++++++++++++++ Here is the tricky part. I will show you what is the most effective inventory to fight against her. Verac Helm (part of full verac) Glory Ammy (almost as powerful as fury, but more essentially for its tele to alkarid) Legends Cape (Good defense bonus, a couple of points less then obby cape, also cheap) Verac Flail (part of full verac) Verac Bassard (part of full verac) Verac Skirt (part of full verac) Guantlets (free, good stats, requires family crest, or Underground quest) Climbing boots (very cheap, +2 str bonus) Wealth Ring (increase your chance of getting D chain by ALOT) DDS\DMACE (special weapons) Just Imagine Full Verac was also what i was Wearing. For those of you that do not have part or some of those items, these might work as replacement *AT LEAST HAVE FULL VERAC* this is a must, full verac right now is probably around 4.05Mil, cheap. For ammy, although its suggested by me, and maybe other KQ hunters, the glory is a versatile tool for kq, but if you are low on money its okay to replace it if you have a lumby tab in inventory and could just walk a fairly fair distance. OR Use a power ammy instead but you must have a hanged glory at your house, since tele home tab is probably the best tele out of kq you'll ever get. Tele to home, recharge prayer, tele back to alkarid with hanged glory. This way, you can use any spell book you want and still able to get back to kq in the quickest amount of time. A cape replacement might be obby cape, if you think you are confident enough that you think you won't die. EXPERTS ONLY. OR Use a god cape. Although I have to advice you it gives almost no def bonus points, and the mage defense points it gives you is practically useless since you are using mage protecting. Guantlets can be replaced by RFD gloves, BUT DO NOT use dragon or barrow gloves or else you'll lose your Verac Helm (2mil down the drain). If you have done the underground quest, you can access kanks guantlets which has the same stats as the guantlets from Family Crest. The reason being is that barrows gloves high alchemy value (76.8k) is higher than Veracs helm (61.8k). Climbing boots can be replaced by Addy boots, or rune boots (EXPERTS ONLY). I am suggesting these boots because they have a stat benefit besides def. Climbing boots +2 str bonus, addy boots +1 and some def bonus, and rune boots has +2 str bonus as well as great def bonus. But the downside is that rune boots cost 180k and that seems to a waste if you die. Wealth Ring can be replaced by...I suggest you don't, its HIGHLY recommended to bring a wealth ring because Kaphite Queen drop ratio for Dragon Chain is not one of her rarest drops, so by boosting the rariety of the drop by a wealth ring, you can make the dragon chain from pretty rare, to rare, for example look at this chart: 100% Common Frequent Semi Semi-rare Rare <--Dragon Chain with wealth ring Pretty Rare <--Dragon chain Rarest The chart is just a example and does not neccesarily reflect the real drop rate of Dragon Chain. ANYWAYS, the ring can be replaced by warrior ring, zerker ring, etc. (EXPERT ONLY), most importantly, stratigically, if the difference of a level if too great, and you know 100% sure that you will not get a drop, you can pick from a recoil ring, or a ring of life. For example: Level 100 goes with level 126, or a Level 95 goes with Level 115 In these cases, the level 95\100 could wear recoil, or ring of life. Secondary Weapon: This is a tough one, I seen alot of different people KQing with a variety of weapons, so i'll list them here, and provide some insight DDS: Most commonly used of all. I suggest at least one of the team members use this, there is a chance of poison and that helps alot, we are talking about 30+ more extra damage from poison alone! Becareful though, for those that arn't high in attack, you might miss all your specials and waste valuable time and food. *Does not protect over helm* DMace: Commonly used. High damage over less accruacy, highly used by higher levels as they miss with this less often and the crush attack really work well against the queen. Not recommended for lower levels (90-110), unless your 95+ attack then by all means use this weapon. *Does not protect over helm* DLong: I know this might sound a good weapon to use but DO NOT use this weapon, first of all its probably worse than DDS and less special hits then a dds, the max on this weapon is smaller then a D mace and worst of all it *protects over helm* DHally: Great Weapon for Kq, it has 3 specials and since the Queen is more then 1x1 jagex, it hits her twice like a dds, the slash bonus for this weapons is great and is the best special weapon you can get for the queen, also, since wearing verac makes it so that you cant wear a shield, this weapons is a 2 handed weapon as well and a good one to boost. But the bad thing is that the Dhally *protects over helm* and i think the flail as well...no need to worry about this if you have protect item on. (thx for your concern purezammy, but what i meant is that u wont lose your flail if the protect item, since I think the Hally protects over the flail as well.) DBAX: I've seen people use this before they start the trip so that they can bring 1 extra shark instead of a str pot. I say: DONT do this since 1 dose of super str doesn't cost that much, and that you can save your special for a different weapon that can help you more then just a sup str pot. ______________________ ()Now for the Inventory() The tactics behind this inventory: First of all, I put the most used items, or will used items on the top line first. Then on the right side, the pots and stuff that I'll use the least, or won't be using at all. Since I pot before i go down the lair. Its goes on the right side, the same goes for the tab, and ropes, and pass (more like empty inventory). The Sharks, fill up the rest of the inventory in lines of 3's. This way i can look at my inventory and see how much i have left when someone asks me "Sharks?", I could give a fast reply. This inventory can be changed if you do not use +15% prayers, or if you have really really high level prayer, you can swap 1, ONE, prayer pot for something else. ALSO, if you don't think a super defence will likely help then don't bring it and trade it in for a shark. Although its highly recommended for lower levels starting off to use super defence potions. You can also drop the ANTI-poison potions for sharks, but its highly suggested that you bring it because starting off from the level 84 kalphites you can get poison and hit 6, thats a lot. (Be sure to check that your anti-poison potion is at least at 2 doses). The Shantay pass can be traded for a shark. You can go pass the Gate, and drop a shark on the floor, then go back through the gate and grab another shark from bank and another pass, go past gate again, drop the warning letter and pick up your shark. Waalah an extra shark. $$$For all of you high levels and experts set the inventory to what you are accustom to. for example you may not need all the sharks since you can kill them real fast. In this case, its wise to bring maybe a rune defender for your dds spec, or d mace spec. Or at least a zammy book, if a rune defender is too much to work for.$$$ @#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@ Tactics #@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@#@# The most important section for this guide, if you felt lazy and didn't read anything from above, i suggest you read this part word for word, since you may learn a few tricks or so. Lets start from the very beginning to the very end. T1. Set up you inventory like above ^^, or to your liking, and enter the desert. Quickly turn east and stand at the place next to the passway for the gate. This place will not drain your health because of lack of water, and its an excellent waiting place for our team mates. T2. After everyone is grouped up, and the last person has gone through the gate, quickly run toward the tunnel, at this point i suggest everyone run by themselves and no following since you'll probably reach the hole faster if everyone just run. During this run you might want to take off the bassard or the helm so that you won't die of thurst before you reach the hole (although not a proven fact, I just feel logical that this should work, btw, you can do this by dropping your warning letter from the shantay guard). The first person among the 2 people that are bringing the ropes will drop the rope. Which means both of you should at least race each other to the tunnel so that the minimal time will be used for getting to there. Every hitpoint counts. T3. Once down to the Kalphite lair. Its adviced to walk since you'll be at 60% run, if you runned all the way with 100% to start with. Talk until you see the level 84's, run past those, and start walking about when you pass the small clove of 84s in a room. By that time, there won't be any more of them. Doing this will help reduce the chance of getting poisoned. Since as long as they hit you, you will get poisoned. Another trick would be turning your prayer on everytime it gets close to you and turn it off after you run past it. This will take 2 prayer points or so. Its still advised to bring anti-poison pots since the guardians can poison you while fighting the queen. T4. Okay, before going down to the Queen Lair, you should put on your 2nd wep if not already, and pot at the skeleton (now removed =[ ) before the hole shown here: T5. The 2nd person should now put down the rope and everyone should charge in at once. THEN listen!! While down there, turn on ALL the prayers your going to use for the first form. AND THEN charge towards the queen. T6. The person that charges first, and draws the attention of the guardians is the one that should move to the other side of the queen, for obvious reasons. (if unsure of what i am talking about go read the "Kalphite Queen Killing Guide" on tip.it mainpage) This way your other teamate(s) do not need to move and could begin focusing on attacking the queen. Know that the queen does not poison but the guardians will, and its advised that you cure it with an antiposion quickly. Also put on +15% prayers for str and att while you are special. Most importantly during her 2nd form, its advised to save prayer points by just using +15% ultimate str prayer, because since verac spec is random, there is no use making it hit more often, its more effective to hit higher. *NOTE* You must have magic prayer protect, and protect item ON at all times. T7. For beginners, if your below 75% health, eat. For experienced people, eat when you got hit hard twice, 20+ each time, or at least keep a major hit above half health. T8. Put a star by this one, there is an exact spot where 2 person can stand and not move when the Kalphite spawn. She spawns and all you do is stand at the farthest edge from her, a whooping 180 degree spin. The place to stand is here: *can't spot during low detail* T9. If you are waiting for a the queen to respawn, you can do stand at but as well as turn your prayer on without getting it drained. There is 2 ways. Turn all the prayer you are going to use on, and open up the stat menu, open up anyone of them stop your prayer from draining, IT MUST BE ON THOUGH. Another way is to turn all your prayer on and then go to the emotes section, and click on one that you DON'T HAVE. Most likely the cape emote. Since you might have all the rest. Nevertheless, anyone of them would work. Personally I open up the construction skill menu since I can browse through alot of stuff and see what I should put on my house next for my next construction level. Its totally up to you. Here is what Skillz should look like: And here is what emote should look like: T10. After Killing queen, pick up some potato cactus, they stock up before you'll even notice it. T11. Tele to House, go back to shantay. Repeat. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> [hide=Lunar Spells] Lunar Spells: Lunar spells are a little different. First of all I suggest you at least have 90 to 91 magic or above to start kqing with lunars. The setup is the same as verac except that instead of 3 extra sharks, those will end up being Astral, Death, and Earth runes (4 Astral, 2 death, 10 earth; for 1 spell). And if your below 94 magic, bring a mage pot. Here is the tactic behind using lunars: Charge in with your prayers on, run *past* the guardians and then cast vengeance, because there is a small chance that the guardians will hit you and waste your vengeance. After that is done, set up yourselfs with kq and kill her. Remember to cast vengeance every 30 seconds and don't get bogged down in casting too much that you can't reach your food fast enough. For those people that arn't 94 magic yet, you can still pot up to 94 magic with mage pot. With 90 magic: The first form u'll be able to caste vengeance couple of times before you return down to 93 magic, so, now just caste vengeance other on your partner to give him\her the power of vengeance =) works just as good. With 91 magic: The same goes as above, but you'll be able to cast a extra set of vengeance alone on the 2nd form before the pot wears down to 93. With 92 magic: With mage pot, should be able to last the whole trip casting vengeance. *For experts only* You can also bring a few laws, and cosmics instead of bring a anti poison pot, as you can now cure poison on other players as well as yourself. (besure to have accept aid on) this saves your partner a extra space, but while you lose a space. But who cares when you got infinite amount of runes to use =P @If I am missing anything plz correct me@ [/hide] [hide=Bolts] Bolts: The bolt method work a little different. If you have high def: around 75+ then just wear a barrow leg, and karils top and a rangerhlm\neitznot helm. Rune defender if you can risk it, or just bring a rune kite. AND now the MOST importannt. We need to use addy bolts tipped with rubies and also enchanted. For those of you that don't know what the special effect is. If activated, the bolt takes 10% of your hitpoints, and hits 20% of your oponnent's hitpoints. We are talking about 50s on the queen!!! This is essential for then 2nd form as the addy bolts will alow us to hit 26s easily with range pot. Though it is warned that 80+ range is needed for this to really make an effort. I personally only hit a 42 before, but i was also using vengeanch at a time so the damage i saw when i hit 42, was 42, 23, and my partner hit a 26. Now thats some KQ ownage. With the bolt method, you can use a whip now and there is not alot of risk when you die since u protect the whip. You would keep your whip and 2 barrow items you using at the time. Range pot is highly neccessary, or not as much if your 99 range... *Pros only* You can also bring vengeance if you think you can take the queen with like 18 sharks. <-- I can =P NOTE: For all those people that think this is very hard to get and that this will cost a fortune then think again. The average number of bolts you lose per trip is 5!! let me repeat that (5!!!!!!!!!!). Thats right. Barely anything!!!. These bolts last a long time. Here is how i get them: I mine the addy ores, and buy\mine the coal ores. And then go to vorrack anvils to find someone with 73 smithing (usually someone) then ask them if they want to help me make some bolts. I give him a fire staff and the number of nats that I have bars for so he can superheat them. give him 3 addy bars, and and 18 coal. He'll make 30 bolts while you run back to bank and get another load of supplies for him. Keep going, etc. Free magic and smithing exp for him, who doesn't want that. If you can't fletch the bolts or put the tips on them then -.- IDK what to do, as i expect people that are kqing and affording full verac with at least 70 fletching...it takes 61 fletching to put the tips on if I remmebered correctly. And now just enchant them!! Happy ranging =P [/hide] [hide=Soloing] Please have at least 110 Combat before looking on i promise [/hide] <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ______________________________________ (+[_]#) Tips\Hints\Suggestions (+[_]#) =KQ is easy, its easier then metal dragons if you think about it. This is all you have to think about when you KQ 1. don't die 2. save helm 3. I get hit, eat, attack, I get hit, eat, attack. 4. Tell Queen you love her and she will reward you. =Remember to heal your hitpoints to full before you leave for the next trip of KQ =A normal Duo KQ trip is like 10-15 Minutes, don't tele or log in a middle of a trip, its exceptionally rude and really gets your teamates angry. So plan ahead of time. If you think you can't finish a load. Then Don't do it. Waste of time, energy, and Money. =DO NOT FORGET TO TURN ON PRAYER when fighting the queen. Trust me you can not out eat her. Only by luck can you do that. (Own experience, proven) =If you lagg or think might get connection lost, tell your friends first, "I am lagging" they will understand if you tele, or run. Also, if you do get a connection lost for some reason, and the words appear right in front of you. DC immediatly. Turn off your power, cord, internet... do something so that you might still survive. Now the hard part will be to survive with like 20 hits while logging right under her nose. Call your real life friends or something to see if the queen has been slayed or find a world where KQ slayers are at shantay and about to go. wait till they killed the queen and tell your friend to logg back in. Its either this, or logging back in and losing your helm. OR just die when you get connection lost, although sometimes you might survive and log back in with no prayer...might lose helm anywayz. (Just noticed something: Call for help on Help & Adivce section of this forum) =Its best to KQ with friends you trust that will share the drop with you. _______________________ XXXX My Experience XXXX -I have killed a 2nd form of the queen, duo, with 3 sharks left. 101 Combat. -I have killed the queen in 1 trip with a level 89 with full verac when I was Level 100. -I have died at KQ 4 times.
