22woger22
Hi, the temptation of a dragon chainbody (albeit the rarity of it) is luring me to raise my slayer to 65 and go off and slay some Dust Devils. However, I would like some of my quries answered before I decide to pursue this.. 1. How long would it take (approximately) for me to achieve 65 slayer. I'm 41 slayer now (royal trouble quest :P ) and 100 combat and will be meleeling but not cannoning 2. To get to 65 slayer, should I use Vannaka or Chaeldar? (note I will be meleeing and not cannoning again) 3. Do Dust Devils hit often and with power (72 def, may raise it, going to wield best armour possible)? How much can I expect to kill before requiring bones>peaches? 4. How much money in alchs/d chains/runes can one expect to make per hour meleeing Dust Devils? 5. To access the Dust Devils, I need to complete everything up to receiving the 4 diamonds from Desert Treasure, right? 6. And finally how long and how much money would it take to unlock the Bones To Peaches spell from the Mage Training Arena (I don't need a link to the fantastic AOW guides :) ) THANK YE! gun_hippy
1. How long would it take (approximately) for me to achieve 65 slayer. I'm 41 slayer now (royal trouble quest :P ) and 100 combat and will be meleeling but not cannoning Abouuuuuuuut 30-40 hours. I can'y give you anything more accurate because slayer depends soooo much on sooo much. Your levels, equipment, task, blah blah. That's a very rough estimate - taking how long it would take me at 118 and adding a few hours. 2. To get to 65 slayer, should I use Vannaka or Chaeldar? (note I will be meleeing and not cannoning again) Chaeldar. Skip all metal tasks. Skip all dragon tasks. Skip Skeletal Wyverns. 3. Do Dust Devils hit often and with power (72 def, may raise it, going to wield best armour possible)? How much can I expect to kill before requiring bones>peaches? Hmmm this is hard it's been a loooong time since i killed them...a LONG time. IF i remember correctly, it was about 1 shark per 2 dust devils (with roughly 80 def, maybe 75). go from there. 4. How much money in alchs/d chains/runes can one expect to make per hour meleeing Dust Devils? Not a clue sorry. ASSUME you won't get a d chain when you're planning. They drop a bunch of herbs and souls, would you sell herbs? i really don't know, but i bet you can break even - afford your barrows repears and rune costs (unless you go mad with bones to peaches). 5. To access the Dust Devils, I need to complete everything up to receiving the 4 diamonds from Desert Treasure, right? No...unless they changed it, all you need is to have started DT. erm, you need to get past the mirrors part of the quest. Bassically, get to the bit where you go for the smoke diamond (if you went for that first), and you can enter. 6. And finally how long and how much money would it take to unlock the Bones To Peaches spell from the Mage Training Arena (I don't need a link to the fantastic AOW guides :) ) I honestly don't think this is the best way to go about killing dust devils, the bones to peaches thing...but umm, i can't answer this one i never unlocked that spell. I'd reckon about 2-3 days.
brunokiller
You could also buy bones to peaches tabs instead of unlocking the spell Unlocking took me about 1.5 day My blog
22woger22
OK, thanks for your ambiguous response :? :P . I honestly don't think this is the best way to go about killing dust devils, the bones to peaches thing Well, you can't use guthans in the dungeon, and selling and re-buying your noted food from the store outside the dungeon takes too long, so bones to peaches is the best to my knowledge... Vaskor
I killed Dust Devils recently. With my 95 combat (Def - 75) they seemed to be quite easy. I potted up with super att/str and was killing them like 3 devils per lobster, so it was pretty fast. Got a lot of rune arrows from them. As for raising Slayer. If you don't use cannon, then take assignments from Lost City guy - he give more exotic and interesting ones. And yes, skip metal dragons. You won't get wyverns for a while :-). I also skip crocodiles. Never used bones to peaches, so no comments there. Runescape Reader's Digest
stan18
b2p is the best way to camp at dusties dusties don't hit hard. They hit waaaay less than fire giants 41-65 is 400k xp. Assuming 40k combat xp/hr, thats 10k slayer/hour, which means about 40 hours. less if you get more xp, even less if you use cannon
Timmis400
"4. How much money in alchs/d chains/runes can one expect to make per hour meleeing Dust Devils? mchainmail
Chaeldar. Skip all metal tasks. Skip all dragon tasks. Skip Skeletal Wyverns. I will digress with you on this. Bronze dragons are extremely easy to melee at 100 combat, while wearing a black mask. if the assignment is small, do it, if it isn't, don't. Concerning other dragons, the baby forms of them count for slayer, so you can breeze through baby blues instead of dealing with their mothers. MTA probably takes a day and a half, maybe 8-10 hours to get BtP.

I'm pretty sure that you can. It's just like using a Varrock teleport tablet when your magic level is one.

Yes, Bones to Peaches is best for camping down there. If you have the Construction lvl, make them into tablets. You obviously can't use barrows down there, so you have no costs to worry about except reimbursing your runes. Which you should be able to cover. So basically, you'll break even, at least. perfect grammar is one thing, typing like a drugged monkey and enjoying it is anotherAMEN!
blakdragon39
I got B2P just for Dust Devils :). I could stay there pretty much forever, or until my runes for the spell ran out. It probably depends a bit on your defence level how well it would work for you. I have no clue how much money you could make there from alchs and D Chains, as I don't spend to much time there :P. Just the random Slayer task and whatnot.
22woger22
I'd rather own the spell instead of buying tabs as they can be difficult to buy in bulk and cost much too dear. Can anyone advise me on which slayer master would be good for power leveling? :S
gun_hippy
Well, you can't use guthans in the dungeon, and selling and re-buying your noted food from the store outside the dungeon takes too long, so bones to peaches is the best to my knowledge... B->P is 8hp for 2 nats thats 580gp for 8hp :S Sharks are a cheaper choice - 8hp is more like 400gp in sharks. And over time it'll add up to a decent saving. If you were crafting your own nats then maybe it wouldn't matter so much, but as you don't have 44 i assume you're buying everything. Now i know you want to camp there, but the journey from the al kharid tele spot -> bank -> the well can't take very long as all. And you will save a ton. And be able to bank your herbs (instead of ending up dropping lots of high level ones to make space for other things). So it's cheaper AND you will make more profit. The amount of time spent away from the well compared to in the well is very small indeed, i really would recommend you just use sharks and bank when you're out. Each to his own - but consider what i said. I'm not going to talk about that any more, I've made my opinion and recommendation. As for slayer master - use your highest if you're mleeing (either Chaeldar or Duradel...i'm not sure if you are over 100cb or not the calcs arn't accurate enough because you're so close). However - if you are cannoning a lot of your tasks, a lot of people use the edgeville guy, as he gives a lot of cannonable tasks. And as for tabs being usable

Bones to peaches turns all the bones in your inventory to peaches as as you can have the max of 25 bones in your inventory for the spell (ok you could have 27 or 26 when using a staff but you will realistically be looking at 25 tops). Thats 580gp for (25 x 8) 200hp. Which is a lot cheaper then sharks.
