Aneron
Did you know that you can sue them if you're on the don't call list and they call you anyway?
Lugia_Lvl138
I don't even pick up the phone if it says something like Out of Area 1-800-something or 1-888-something. And when a telemarketer actually sells something, everyone at the telemarketing place is like: A sale! A sale! We got another sale! thefoo1000
Argg I hate those people! Even when you hang up they call you back to ask you for something else. Although most of the time I just mess with them. :-w 2104th to 99 Hunting January 10th 2008Proud Fan Of The Offspring Since 1998
nine naked men
Hah, I hate telemarketers. Especially the fake ones who ask for you name, credit card number, driver's licence number so they can impersonate you. I usually just yell at them and end with, "Do you know who you're talking to? You should know that you're screwing with !!!" sleep like dead men wake up like dead men
underu2000
We used to have the same telemarketer calling us at about the same time every night (right at dinner time, of course!). My brother was living with us at the time and he started answering it and acting like he couldn't hear them. "hello" "hello?" [pause] "hello!?" "Phil, I think you're phone is messed up again." "hello?" "I think someone is there, but maybe they can't hear me" "If anyone is there, you're going to have to talk louder...I can't hear you" [at this point they are pretty much yelling on the other end] The same guy kept calling and my bro did this for many nights...eventually he stopped calling. Quite funny Exactly what i do. This snobbish girl happened to be the caller, and she said "oh whatever". Turns out they're real people and not trained zombies after all. Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either.
Dragonbait02
There are several things you can do to them. First, you wait until they're done yacking. Then, in a baby voice, say "my diaper's dirty." Second, you can ask "What's your favorite color?" They say *insert color here* You scream, "WRONG ANSWER!" and hang up Third, you can say, "I will buy this if you answer the following 20 questions." Let them answer the first 19 correctly, then give them an impossible on for the 20th. When they get it wrong, tell them so and hang up.
ChickyBee32
I've done telemarketing. The money was simply not worth the crap I had to put up with and I ended up having to resign due to stress - panic attacks before each shift will really take the fun out of your day! Having been on the recieving end, I find it really hard to brush off a telemarketer. Luckily for me, I have an easy out: Them: Is Mrs MyLastname there? Me: No (I'm not married.) Them: Oh.. is Mr Mylastname there? Me: Nope, sorry. I think you have a wrong number. (My son has his father's surname.) Them: Oh. Is this 89423574 (not real number) Me: Yes, but - Them: Well what I'm calling about - Me: Look sir/ma'am, this call sounds like it's intended for someone else. Under privacy laws, it would be illegal for us to continue this conversation. Usually that gets them to hang up. As far as I'm concerned, it's simple - if you don't want unsolicited calls, get a silent number or join the Do Not Call list.
IGoddessI
Hang up. No brush off needed :P The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours. wakka102
we had one call when I was at work today. And the shift manager, being the awesome guy he is, got it to the point where there was an actual person talking and said "hold on one moment for an associate" and smalled the earpiece against a metal object lol. Then he picked it back up and said, wait just one more moment please and did it again, then the person hung up  . The whole staff was cracking up. djo0
My family is on the Do not call list, so we haven't had a telemarketer in years :) . It is pretty nice not having to pick up the phone the second you sit down to eat. "Nobody cheers for Goliath" ~Wilt Chamberlain~
shadow_00083
They call sometimes, but not to often like they used to. Someone called and asked me "Is your mom home?" "no she's not.." "well can you do me a favor and get her social security number for me?" *click* I love messing with them though :P One called and ask for my dad, and he didn't pronounce it right, so I said that he didn't live here :P this is common, but works a lot.. if they ask for someone, I make a fake crying noise saying that *insert person* has passed away. Never called us back..
whocares
I usually just say "hello". Then they say "Hi, I'm from [insert noun here].... (I hang up). Sometimes I like to play with them too. That's my opinion. :D
knives669
I just hang up on them most of the time. What's their deal? They call me so early... #-o
Harrington
Ok, everyone has to make a living somehow, but this is one living I absolutely cannot abide. I despise people contacting me in my OWN HOME and try to sell me stuff, be it a telesales or door caller. I'm amazed that in this day of human rights, that this has not been outlawed. It's simply not fair to be bullied in your own home by salemen. You know what really grinds my gears though... I had to disconnect my telephone line recently as I was receiving calls during the early hours of the morning from Indian call centres (who are obviously in different time zones). Jesus Christ! I tried everything... "Put your manager on now!", "Remove me from your database immediately", "I'm on TPS, you're not allowed to call me", "Sorry, but Mr blank died last year, please stop calling". None of these work at all. Oh, and I even changed my number, which worked for a short time. My only solution was to remove the phoneline and use my mobile for all calls. So erm.... I don't like telesale very much lol
cowmasta13
It's fun to just pick up the phone and not say anything.
Ragen
We don't get them very often but whenever I have to deal with one it's normally just "No thanks I'm not interested". After reading this, I'll start asking them to remove me from the call list. It makes it easier for both of us (seeing as I'm not going to buy anything over a phone-line ever). Thanks Venomai for this super sig and Kwimbob for the awesome avatar!
