July 25, 200718 yr Holy [Cabbage] this thread is confusing. Really teaches you about password security though. One thing i do know is that the more you concentrate on keeping you password safe and secure the less fun you will have in accomplishing the tasks this game sets :)
July 25, 200718 yr brute-forcing by my standards is possible (every 20 character string possible input) but will take much longer. Just change your pass about once a month and you will be safe

July 25, 200718 yr ^^Or maybe I enjoy proving people wrong who have never touched jagex(spelled with an f, if a mod thinks this is too big of a giveaway and/or offensive sue me for listing the site's name and remove it even though it's dead) where pass crackers were pretty big in like, january-march lol...I also don't see why I should be banned for saying anything of this sort if you were implying that we're exposing ourselves for a ban just to be knowledgable. That's like saying, Teachers shouldn't become teachers because they learned it, BAN THE TEACHER!!!1!111!shiftone Really, grow up, it's a game and the OP opened the topic, I'm only posting. It's impossible to use more then 3-5 passwords because an IP Address can only login that many times(on a certain server such as the Canada servers ect..) thus everyone debating over bruteforcing don't know [cabbage] cause you can't bruteforce runescape. Secondly, I have no clue why pass crackers haven't tried RSC and store account info if the message relayed back is that it can either log in or you need an rsc account for it. IMO it would be way smarter to log into RSC using proxies as you wouldn't need to switch servers.

July 26, 200718 yr well speaking from a person that WAS hacked via brute force.. How do i know it was brute force? I don't run programs normally that i have not vetted properly I had a good AV scanner this means that i did not do foolish things and so there was no keylogger possable After the hacking i scanned my computer with EVERY single scanner i could find.. nothing.. nada (though i admit the possability if there was a program it cleaned up after itself, but how did it get into my computer) well there was only ONE WAY for a hacker to gain access the WMF bug in windows (Windows Meta File bug was where ANY image could allow a keylogger or such thing into a computer) but i say nay to that... why? i was not capable of being infected... I used firefox which is not suseptable to this since it does not rely on windows to process images. I used thunderbird for e-mail.. same situation.... I used trillian for chatting (i put this possability at more likely to have a billion dollar appear in my room right as i type then this happening) So there is NO conceivable way for my computer to have been compromised (also i used my bank and other things during this time and they were never compromised) so the only way that could have done is a brute force hacking of a password that would have been similar to rqq34qrp which is not the longest.. but it is safe... so therefore.. it had to have been a brute force from one person who saw bank pics of me or something.... so brute force is possable I now get my passwords from http://www.grc.com/passwords which is psyudo random and safe enough The following statement is true.
