The New Clan Chat System!

well every one the new In Game chat is out. and it would appear alot of your fears where unfounded. for one yes any one can make a Channle, but they can only make one under their name. Further more to join a Channle you enter the Owner's name in under Join Chat. I think this solves alot of the potential problems with people makeing channles with the same name as a Clan that they do not own.

for detaild information check out the Knowledge base topic about it Located on the Runescape Official Website. go to Knowledge Base/ Manual/Controlls/Clan Chat.

I can see no URL to it, it would appear Jagex doesent want people Directly Linking to topics or some such. but thats how to get their.

so far it seems like a nice chat system, and its Ingame, not IRC.

This update has been quite good and has already come in quite handy. Messages are easier to send and communication between people is much easier. This will make Pking a bit more interesting because you will not know what your opponents clan is going to do next, or who they are going to pile next so clan pking and clan wars will take a bit more thought and effort.

Yes, rules still apply in your own channel, but it is a great update. The 100 player cap isn't too great, but communication will be much better in the Wilderness now. Joining the chat after logging in each time is also a pain for most.

Nice update, but it could use some fixes.

I think it's great that Jagex is focusing support on Clans, because I think Clans are one dynamic that RuneScape seriously lacks in when compared to other MMORPGs.

It helps create a community, and communities are invaluable in MMORPGs such as RuneScape.

well I'd say it's useful for a lot of smaller clans, but as far as the larger and more shall we say technologically advanced clans go, it's not going to play a great role in things.

Nonetheless, it is a step towards an official clan system, so I will applaud Jagex for that.

It's been pretty handy during events sor far, though it will never replace IRC (for MoD, at least). It's nice to be able to communicate with everyone at the same time without trying to outspam the people next to you. It's much more efficient than what I used to do to relay information to people who can't use IRC.. PM the same things / answer the same questions to 10 people at a time.

It's funny to see Jagex take on IRC after it's been around for 20 years now, but it was a good update nonetheless. It's just about right for events, because you don't have to keep flicking windows all the time. (And don't tell me to get swiftkit or whatever it is now. I use more than one network which seems beyond Strider's brain capacity). :XD:

What would be nice now is for clans to have a small page about themselves in a section of the rs site. You know, maybe a couple of paragrpahs, a list of members and the clan logo.
