Getting 99 smithing?

Featured Replies

I guess it would be kinda cool to have a 99 stat and while WC is my highest lvl at 73 I really hate doing it so I thought about 99 smithing. I'm just wondering is there any way to get to 99 smithing without spending 20m or mining and smelthing and smithing all your own stuff. I'm F2P aswell so...

You shouldn't try 99 smithing on f2p... You can't smith knives for a slight profit or break even... You can't smelt gold with the gold gaunts for exp...

Really there's only 99 fishing with fly fishing... or 99 cooking...

Man I used a lot of periods, didn't I...?

If it being boring stops you then :s well you might not want to go for a 99

you're f2p, don't bother with smithing, or buy membs first

Yes there is indeed

and make a profit

Best way is to be a member though

Buy coal for 180-200 each,

Iron for - 100-110

Make a steel bar

each bar costs about 510

Make cannon balls,

1 bar = 4 cannon balls

sell 200 each

800 per bar, 300gp profit each bar.

Sorted!

The only way to not loose money in f2p with smithing is to buy iron and coal and make steel bars. You would be rich after the end, but it would take waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long. You could also mine your own stuff, and make plates.

runemsanta,nomar4.gif

The problem here is making cannonballs takes forever. If you really wanna go for it though, I can't really give you any other good advice... good luck though, you may need it. I got to 71 from making iron knives/superheating mith and making mith bolts. Not like thats anywhere close to 99 but meh.

as you have heard, being f2p makes getting smithing with profit is near impossible. however, if you dont mind spending a fortune on the skill, you could make steel, mith or addy plates. it will take time, money, the loss of braincells and perseverence to get, but it has been done before. good luck!

What about this, buy mith ore 300-350 ea, buy coal 160-200 ea, buy nas 300 ea, and then super heat them and sell the bars forlike 1.5k ea. It would be pretty tedious but eventually I would get there. Wouldn't ever have to leave the bank if I made the sellers come to me and I would get a ton of magic exp aswell.

If you can sell mith bars for 1.5k each easily I would say that is not a bad idea. Definatly worth a try and if you don't get 99 you can at least aim for 80+ which is still good with smithing.

Apparently, my signature was to big.

Thats what it will cost for one bar u will make 50gp profit

And will take loads of time banking and unbanking every 10 seconds.

I wouldnt recomend it, best way i always found was making steel pl8s and then alching them

-Smelting steel make you money but quite boring(I'm doing it now XP)

-Superheating mith is good for exp but less profit(almost no money profit)

-Smithing pl8 is a best way to make your xp and lose your money #-o

-Mine ore and smith pl8...I'll never do it :P

-69 smithing...drink dwarven stout and superheat addy ftw =D>

I could care less about turning a profit. I think most people going for 99 in anything would agree. I have to admit though, making a slightly larger profit would be nice seeing as how I would be able to buy more materials at once.

I thought about steel plates and if I had the money thats probally what I would do but right now, it just seems crazy to mine the iron and coal.

Just to 70 smithing...you need to superheat 20,839 mith bars...thats alot of bars. Other than the 70 smith you would get lots of mage lvls. Just that many superheats and you get roughly 1.1m exp in mage.

After 70 you need 67,226 addy superheats to get to 85. Roughly gaining 3.56m exp in mage as well has 85 smithing

After that you can smelt and smith rune to gain lvls. You have also gained 4.66m mage exp which I dont know your current lvl but Id say it would put you at about 88 mage.

I am not going to try to figure a profit b/c prices alway change...

I hope you see how much superheating you would have to do and the possible benifits from it.

85 Smithing with 88 Mage. Crazy.

Those are some crazy numbers but I also make a profit depending on how much I can buy and sell my items for. I think I'm gonna go for it. Maybe I will start a blog.

surprised that master_smither hasnt posted yet...he should have something to say.

anyway, spend like 10mil and buy coal and iron and smelt and smith those bars. 180+180+100 = 460 gp per steel bars = 55smith xp.

that is 9gp per xp.

1mil xp is 9mil gp.

if you want to high alch, that is 300/5 = 60gp per steel bar 460+60 = 520gp per bar plus -1200/5 = -240gp per bar.

so buy the ores, buy the nats, smelt and smith and high alch. that is 280gp per bar. 280/55 = 5 gp per smithing xp.

for 1mil xp, you spend 5mil gp. for 13mil xp that is about 70mil gp.

for 85 smithing you basically spend 16mil.

for 70, spend about 3-4milgp.

100% F2P

85 Mining achieved on Dec 4, 2007

85 Smithing achieved on May 28, 2009
