gongusan
ok, I own both. the psp wins. hands down. the psp isnt a games console, its a multimedia device like the other guy said. it can have upto 4 gigas of memory, it plays music, videos and displays very high quality photos. The internet browser pawns. although it runs out of memory a fair bit, itll display almost every page on the web, and so far, 27 out of my pathetic 31 posts have been posted with my psp. as for the ds, it plays games, wow, kid's games -.- dont get me wrong, the ds is ok but has a lot of flaw
Nom
I would definitely recommend DS. PSP, well, it's got the typical Sony attribute of having a load of features stuffed into what's supposed to be a portable game system, but it doesn't make up for what the DS has got on it. DS has WiFi play, I'm not sure if PSP does but I don't think so, and you have not experienced handheld fun until you have played a Wifi match of Metroid Prime: Hunters : That game is an example of great use of the DS's features, inculding the touch screen. Yes, many games do not utilize it well, but usually those games aren't worth getting anyway. And when you get a game system, you want it for the games, right? I honestly couldn't care less that the PSP has all the MP3 and video features, if you really wanted them so does the DS, and who nowadays doesn't have an iPod? IMO, DS wins, and yes I've played PSP. It just isn't as fun.

It just isn't as fun. Yes, the PSP has Wi-Fi for SOCOM, Twisted Metal, and a few others which I can't think of off the top of my head. To be completely honest, the only decent games for the DS are Metroid Prime: Hunters and Pokemon, which everyone else seems to have already mentioned (and before anyone goes "LOLZ U NOT NO WAT U TALKIN BOUT U NO HAV DS", I've gone through a regular DS and 2 DS Lite's, so yeah). The PSP, if downgraded and upgraded to a custom firmware correctly, can be great. Since I've upgraded to firmware 3.40 OE-A (a custom firmware, I won't go into details since it's not an official firmware), I've been playing my PSP nonstop, Super Mario RPG on a handheld is fun  , not to mention that you can also put PSX games and run them full-speed on it. TotalTalker
I dont use the touch screen a lot whilst I am playing pokemon diamond, but it doesnt take away the fact that it is an outstandingly brilliant game.
Faux
If the PSP's redesign is tiny enough to rival the DS, I might consider buying it :: Guess the Movie Contest Champion: pfilc23 ::
Jaziek
If the PSP's redesign is tiny enough to rival the DS, I might consider buying it lol, its not much smaller at all. A few mm taken off here and there. The disc tray is different this time, and the wlan switch is on the top now.

I would've overlooked the PSP's slooooooow load times if it was more portable It's 1/3 lighter than the original psp. It has a 2x faster UMD drive, which means faster loading times. It also has something called UMD cache which will also improve loading times. The slim also has double the ram, which improves the speed of everything. Jaziek, check out the playstation website for the the dementions of the new psp. It has more than a "few mm taken off here and there". I would say it greatly improves the psp. The ram boost is greatly needed for web browsing.

TotalTalker
Whats the actual difference between the ds and the ds lite? I thought it was just the design...
Nom
Whats the actual difference between the ds and the ds lite? I thought it was just the design... Better overall ergonomics basically. It's lighter and more compact, the screens are brighter, the mic has been moved to the middle hinge, the power switch was moved to the side, the stylus space was moved to the side and the stylus made bigger. That's all I can think of right now.

Champion0113
Getting a PSP is a great choice. Its online capablities is very helpful and it's great for playing games with friends. Sometimes games can be a little hard to control so go for racing games as they are the easiest to control. Watching movies on it is great too.
