A PSP is a bunch of hooey but i would say get Call of Duty 3 and look at the reviews of each of the Grand Theft Autos and decide. DO NOT GET CARBON, i had it on my GameCube and it was CRAP!

I imagine the gamecube version will be quite different to the PSP version....

PSP = Better functionality, better internet capability, better graphics, vidoes / music, endlessly expandable memory. Battery life is short, its a lot more fragile than the DS

DS = Better game library overall, touchscreen is nifty, does not feature as many functions as the PSP, battery life is better and it is a lot more durable. However

If you're prepared to take the risks of doing the homebrew approach then a PSP is much much much much much much much better.. and when the slim comes out... Imo that wins hands down. Video out will make it the best handheld ever because it basically becomes a portable PS2.

Also, if you want a great PSP game that will occupy your time.

Monster Hunter Freedom, (1 and 2)

The best single player RPG I've played in ages. By far the best of its kind i've ever played.

Thank you for the long and informative post! :)

I know about this "homebrew" scene, but what exactly does it do? You downgrade your system so you can play older games? Why would someone do that? Or you can play your own softwares? Are there any real pluses for "homebrewing" a PSP? What kind of things can you do with a downgraded PSP?

Well now with the custom firmwares you can have the best of both worlds. Have the newest firmware features and play homebrew.

Homebrew is a term meaning an application that is not made by a company and is made by people. This can include emulators to play sega, n64, and other old games or even brand new games that developers made just for the psp. Applications can include something for internet radio (called pspradio), make the psp so that it can control your tv (IRshell). Basically in short, it expands the features of what the psp can do.

Please don't go saying the psp is junk its not the console its the company behind it.

The DS i own and i own the PSP both are great systems. but.. honestly the PSP in my opinion is far better feature wise. The market for nintendo is stronger because people know them to make great handheld and home consoles, plus they have multiple DS only games, as the psp only has a few.

Reasons i think the psp is better feature wise:

1. Its graphics are near Ps2 as the DS is a bit better then the n64, both the n64 and the ps2 systems are completely different generations.

2. The psp has music compatibility's

3. RSS video compatible

4. High detail picture viewing

5. Two words; Memory sticks.

6. its discs have a lot more capacity then the DS's Game paks.

7. Web browser

8. does not have a failure rate that would put shame on the company like the 360 to microsoft.

Now onto why the ds is getting better sales:

1. huge library of games

2. ease of use for newbies to game systems

3. a bit cheaper

4. The game paks are a lot smaller

5. As i said earlier people trust Nintendo to do it right (Even with the failure of the micro and virtual boy)

6. Sony has bad marketing but Nintendo has great marketing

7. Nintendo as good customer suppert

I would say get both because they both have their good and bad sides.

PSPs aren't all that great. I bought mine in Christmas '06, and I rarely ever used it. The games were never that great.

There are over 700 titles, I'm sure you could find a good game.

Do you think a DS would occupy me for longer? :?

I couldn't say yes, but it does have a TOUCH SCREEN! *Twitch*

What's so great about the touch screen? In most of the games it isn't even used properply. :| But then again there's Metroid Prime Hunter *twitch* <3: that makes me want to buy a DS.

Don't waste 100-150 on a portable console, save and get a Wii, sorry but that's my 2 cents. I got a DS and while its good I never really use it, as opposed to my ps2 and wii, which i use a lot. In fact if yuo don't have one get a ps2, you can buy a preowned one for like 40 pounds, and I've seen screens for them and a little cigarette adaptor for in car, there you go. Sorted. Or get a Wii.

So my opinion is it depends on what you're going to use it for, of course if you travel a lot, and i mean like once a month+ yes it's probably worth it. But if you go on an annual holiday or go maybe 3 times a year, not worth it. And you'll barely play it at home because the games aren't as much fun as console games, or at least I find that to be true.

I don't have any consoles home, only computers, so I plan to play there as well. This isn't an issue.

A PSP is well worth getting... I prefered Liberty City stories to Vice City. Also if you do have wireless internet, Socom is well worth getting, really fun.

Apparently, you've never played a DS. Playing it would negate your statement completely.

What the devil are you talking about. Ive owned an original DS and a DS lite, playing avidly for many an hour. Just bought Diamond infact. You seem to be flaming the PSP and i'm merely saying its worth having. Strange person you are.

Eh, I apologize. Didn't mean it like that. I've owned both too, what I meant was...Many people, who own a DS (At least people I know) owned a PSP previously, upon playing the DS...They got quite mad. Well anyway. I apologize. :)

From wikipedia:The Nintendo MP3 Player (known as the Play-Yan in Japan) was released on December 8, 2006 by Nintendo of Europe at a retail price of ̢̢̮ââ¬Ã¡Ãâì30. The add-on uses removable Secure Digital cards to store both MP3 audio files and select format video files. The Nintendo MP3 Player can be used on any device that features support for GameBoy Advance cartridges, and as such is limited in terms of its user-interface and functionality. Therefore, it does not support using both screens of the DS simultaneously, nor its touch screen capability. It also means that the device cannot utilize the enhanced power of the DS compared to its predecessors, so video playback is not as robust as it could otherwise be.

The Ds has no internal memory system so it cannot play music without this peripheral, which is why PSP has a memory stick, so you can store music and play it.

I have a PSP, but I also play on my sisters DS and plan to buy one, but its horses for courses.

The PSP is a multimedia device, not just a games console, so if you want it for that, get it over the DS, but if you want it just for games, buy which ever has the games you want.

No it doesn't, unless you buy a seperate cartridge for it. The PSP comes with a Memory Stick (though a very small one).

3. RSS video compatible

Really? Maybe it's only for the DS Lite, because I know that there's no way to do anything like that with the regular DS

4. High detail picture viewing

So does the DS.

If you buy a seperate cartridge that can read a memory card.

ROFL at the PS3 comment. And the touch screen is a joke. With the majority of games for the DS the touch screen is unnecessary and only hinders gameplay.
