August 24, 200718 yr If we somehow placed a very big mirror 100 lightyears from Earth, and looked at that mirror from earth and saw earths reflection... Would you see earth as it was 100 years ago, or would it be at its current state? Correct me if i'm wrong, but intuitively, the light that we would see would have left earth 200 years ago by the time it got back to earth (100 x 2) would it not? I'm tired, I could be wrong on this. No, that's right. thanks for the article though. I knew mass didn't change, but with all I've been learning from this thread I thought it best to keep my doubts. :D Cowards can't block Warriors.

August 24, 200718 yr Uum... I have a question. How exactly does light travel at light speed? Well, photons are massless for one thing, like gravitons. Not sure why else :-k . [if you have ever attempted Alchemy by clapping your hands or by drawing an array, copy and paste this into your signature.] Fullmetal Alchemist, you will be missed. A great ending to a great series.

Yeah, they are massless, but they still need a force to act on them to move... :-k This is an interesting question and one I don't have an answer to. :D Cowards can't block Warriors.
August 24, 200718 yr llamster, its all a distortion. Pluto is five "light hours" away. If you flew to the Pluto instantaneously and took out a telescope and looked back at Earth you would see 5 hours into the past. You would see yourself walking around doing things that took place 5 hours before you went to Pluto. If this technology is true, one could travel 1000 light years away and theoretically look back at earth and see 1000 years into the past. Fascinating indeed Well, maybe ... But the light particles that reflect off the Earth don't just go through space forever. They'll either run into stuff or dissipate, I think. Isaac Asimov wrote a short story like that about a machine that would let you view the past, but it turns out it would only workd 30 or so years back for that very reason. My greatest ambition is to kill every member of the human race. However I am a realist and therefore know that I probably wont be able to.

Yah, I've been thinking about that "view the past idea" myself. From distances that far away, with the amount of distortion and bending light goes through from all the gravitational forces it's unlikely that such a tactic as looking back into the past would be feasible. I'd say even trying to look back 30 years would be pushing it, even with the most advanced technology from this or the next century. Ah well, it's a cool little idea nonetheless; it's like an optical illusion :) . You could even solve muder crime mysteries.
August 25, 200718 yr Don't you the image will be a little too blurry (sp?) for someone to be able to solve a murder mystery after travelling 15 light years? This signature is intentionally left blank.
August 26, 200718 yr I think they just wanted attention. It's at this point not possible, nothing can travel faster. Unless we move into the world of Futurama where nothing can move faster than the speed of light because they increased the speed of light haha :) Wolfy is Officially Retired.I miss you all (Well, mostly my friends n stuff)If you want to talk to me, send me a message, I check the boards daily. :D
