Check this out, a awsome idea that I need help with!

My idea is to make a collection of pieces of runescape. Such as we render a corner piece of lumbridge castle. then we make a pack of pieces so that. you build your own kingdom out of pieces. I have already begun on lumbridge castle. I plan to release a pack within a week of now containing the basic pieces of lumbridge castle. I am hoping that once we get enough pieces we could make a KOTW (Kingdom Of The Week) contest, where you design a kingdom based on the rules of the contest for that week. If no one applys to help out then it won't matter. I will not be stopped and will continue this goal on my own.

If you want to help me simply post and I will tell you the details of taking the screen shots.

heres pictures that i took of lumbridge and pieced together.

map-lumbridge.png

The image is blurry because i was lazy and just recorded me walking through lumbridge and took out frames and pasted them together. Thsi took me about an hour because i had to do my best to re-allign the images due to jagex's making the screen rotate 2 pixels every second.

err i cant really make out anything from that pic..?

Such as in about a minute I have rendered this cross to be used as a grey blob.

that was an example. and also I saved it in really low detail. Well, anyways if no one wants to help I will do this on my own.

Sound like a nice idea. :-)

Unfortunately I'm no experienced renderer, but I hope (and think) that you will find someone to help you out.

pixel avvy by me deviantART

i render stuff alot, so i could help 8-)

however there are a few rules to custom building pictures out of renders.

1) all pictures must have heavy contrast

2) all pictures must be taken at the same angle

3) all pictures must be in proportion to eachother at the time of the screen shot

if you can follow those rules, i'd gladly see to it that your stuff gets rendered.

note: i can not take screenshots, as i no longer play runescape. just pm the uploaded picture and i'll see what i can do

thank you for volunteering. I am currently experimenting with different ways of getting the same angle. The view i used for the picture up top was viewed from its highest point because I thought I might just be able to rotate the image to fit into each other. obviously, it didn't work too well.

I have figured out a solid way to get images all from the same angle. Now all i need is more people to help me render the pieces.

How does 20 minutes turn into 2.5 hours? Was your math perhaps magical math?

I thinkt he blurred bits look better I'm rubbish at rendering but good luck! I'll surely support the KOTW idea.

I'm pretty sure if you intergrated this with a program you could have layering, in some kind of map viewer.

I.E

Move up floors and down floors to see places underneath and above places.

Have two modes (in game) screenshots / bitmap (i.e pixels marking items/places speficially).

I'm sure with a good co-ordinator and a team of dedicated/not lazy ( #-o ) programmers  it could be done.

There's probably some kind of law or conflict of interest in the policies/terms conditions to prevent anyone doing this tho =; :?

But I don't know, because I don't know jack XD

How can you take pictures from that high up? Did you zoom out or something?

um, its kinda confusing. I'm thinking about making a website describing the whole topic. because theres like a whole lot of stuff to explain, such as...

From your starting point, every square you move north you have to hold the left arrow button for 50 MS more. and its all very confusing. Oh and for all those who volunteered, i will begin piecing together my 250+ screenshots for rendering. I hope you'll enjoy it :XD:

that was done with NO EDITING!!!!!!!!!

I will post the link to the website i am creating for this as soon as it gets up.

I had the same idea, and i will make sure to do it. But as we all know this will indeed take some time <.<

<img src="http://killm3.x10.mx/rotate.php" alt="Header" width="400" height="100" />

How did you zoom out that far?

I once made a 3d map of the dungeon in Lost City, it was pretty hard, i did it without any 3rd party software, i think it's impossible to map whole pieces of Rs to creatre your own kindom without using any illegal software...
