kallenkootx
with the release of the god wars dungeon and the godsword jagex has changed the animations of the 2h swords. as alot will have noticed, its very active (too active, character bounce up with their heads like idiots, but im not ehre to tell that anyway). runesape has always been a very original game with its own not that superior graphics. but what makes runesacpe so enjoyable comparing to games like world of warcraft or everquest? well, its runescape gameplay and aura. gameplay speaks for itself, but the aura il explain: runescape has a feeling thats unique to it, an aura as i call it. this 'aura' consists of some medieval and more modern parts. the graphics are the presentation of the game and those are what can create or break this aura. when jagex started to update graphics, its ussually updating some monster or area or an animation. monsters turn out quite well i have to admitt, as long as its kept the way it is (e.g. not updating dragonlike monsters another time so they look like a dragon from a famous game) area updates im less positive about, some of them are ok, but if whole runescape gets updated it is like swiping away a part of runescape i think. and now to come almsot to my point... ANIMATIONS animations get updated so they look more realistic and this is what i found not needed to improve runescape, its good the way it is, but what really did it is the 2h swords: they first got updated so u have ur 2hander laying over ur shoulder, nothing wrong with, indeed it looked cool for runescape terms and it looks realy like runescape, stilll the same attack animations etc etc but now jagex updated it again and this time it kinda crossed the line, theres nothing wrong with holdin ur big sword with 2 hands and standing sideways, but why having a cape that keeps moving and just moving ur head up and down like an moron... after a could be longer and more boresome story i think this new animation is too active and kinda helps ruining runescape, after all, runescapes graphics were what made runescape runescape. realism is something that shouldnt make its appearance in runescape in such way, if this goes through we will end up with a game thats all but runescape, and runescape is cool (keep in mind that 1: before flaming that this is an opinion, in this case my opinion, before telling me im a ranter or something else, and 2: please only post if u have an opinion to share wich aint like 'AWSOME', come with arguments or something else and 3: i know what i talk about) Proud owner of firemaking cape! mememe513
Jagex has its fair share of idiots who think that something is wrong. People rant abut stuff on the rsof, and if enough people rant, Jagex must listen to the voice of the people
Barihawk
Forget that, I want more animation updates. They are essential to the game, along with the graphical updates. I'm starting to get sick of my avatar punching a guy while holding a dagger. My heart is broken by the terrible loss I have sustained in my old friends and companions and my poor soldiers. Believe me, nothing except a battle lost can be half so melancholy as a battle won. -Sir Arthur Wellesley
kallenkootx
people rant with diferent motives, some acceptable, and some not... for myself i believe jagex wont quit making grpahics that doesnt suit runescape... as there are simple too many of those people who want this to be the next world of warcraft for only 5 dollars a month so.. why would i rant if i believe thats pointless.. its just a shared opinion and tell me, why u think these updates are essential? if u post here, do so with an argument please, as just a simple i agree or dont or in whatever form doesnt makes any sence why u would be right or not. jessy87
cap moving is making RS like wow? when you cant hybrid all classes at once with graphics going off like fireworks and add cooldowns to all the spells. then ill complain. this was a good update. ooo my cape waves... its just a little different flavor to the game. and its not even a "real" update. i bet this took like a week to make and the dungeon? a year? yea.. not real. R_I_O_T
I have to agree with the cape. It just looks silly, it looks like you charecter is constantly letting off wind. Apart from that I love the animation of how the sword is held. It does actualy look good, but the movement of the legs is to stiff and short and the head needs a little improvement in the way it is held. But apart from that it seems okay. ~R I O T
kallenkootx
ill put it this way, and then i SPEAK FOR MYSELF, i love updates, even if they arent very usefull or too strong or too weak, but graphical updates i do hate, though a normal graphical udpate that were used to didnt bother me too much, though theres nothin wrong with the stance, its the active part ( the moving cape and that ur character keeps moving its head up and down) thats really gone far Proud owner of firemaking cape! SwreeTak
Forget that, I want more animation updates. They are essential to the game, along with the graphical updates. I'm starting to get sick of my avatar punching a guy while holding a dagger. Yes, I also think the animation and graphical updates is a part of the game. And it's not a little part either. Right now, the graphics in RS is actually bad. Not very bad, but bad. I don't like them to much, and I become happy every time Jagex updates the animations or the graphics of the game. And I'm pretty sure that I'm not alone in this. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak

Bludragon124
I think it looks better. Think about it realistically. Most 2h swords are probably over the 6-9KG mark, and if you're carrying something that heavy, chances are all of your body is going to be moving somehow. I think the animation looks fine, much improved from when you'd simply have it resting on your shoulder. Now you look battle ready. Noted raw mackerel drop... Wtfh? kallenkootx
bluedragon, i understand people like realistic, but ehm.. (not that ure wrong, its ur opinion) but do you think runescape is actually meant to be realistic? only having 1 realistic weapon is kinda silly, isnt it? Proud owner of firemaking cape! underu2000
I simply hate the "don't bother updating graphics, it's like being a WoW pretender" argument. That's like saying "don't get well and pretending to be healthy" to a sick person. The runescape graphics are not that good, and everyone knows it. I embrace any graphics change, whether it looks dumb or not (cough*mining*cough), since it evolves runescape into a better game, and not the same balloon-character game RSC looked like. I agree with the animation being too motion-happy, but it was a vast improvement over the previous look. Realism may not be runescape's strong point, but that's all the more reason to improve upon it. There is nothing defining about the current graphics, or that "runescape's graphics make runescape what it is". No, runescape will always be runescape, its graphics I pray will not. If it comes to rs being defined by avatars that look like they're made out of Play-Doh, then Houston, we have a problem. Life is a joke. Yeah, I don't get it either. Dalcyte
i like it. I imagined a 2h sword being held in two hands...lol, i remember when the original 2h swords were held in one hand :P Anyway, i can see where your view is coming from, but it's a really small thing. Graphical updates have to happen, because they're making new updates like the God Wars Dungeon graphically superior to other things in the game, so they have to update the not-so-superior things. The Cape moving really isn't too big of a deal, and i think it's kinda cool. Click for mah Blog!- I'm not sure why you would though because i never update it Achieved 99 Thieving 3/10/07-992nd to it
kallenkootx
it seems like the sword seems to stay, but i keep my prayers other weapons will not change and stay the same  Proud owner of firemaking cape!
PastyGangsta
Although I agree that changing the graphics takes away more and more of the original game, here are two things for you to wrap your mind around: 1. Jagex controlls the game, and the majority like the update, so it will not change. 2. Use Proper Grammar, capitalize and punctuate. Right now your post is a jumbled mess. -Pasty 8-)
aoe325
it seems like the sword seems to stay, but i keep my prayers other weapons will not change and stay the same  Of course they will, to an extent. You have to admit the walking/running animation is way better now, and sidestepping also looks real, not like you're floating! At least that part is going to be updated for every object in the game! Then comes the different attack animations that in my opinion add alot of depth in combat, you can actually see what your opponent is using! Quest cape obtained at combat level 83, march 07. DarkVincent
If it weren't for this update I wouldn't go running to get a few iron ores and make an iron 2h for me. It looks much better, your character looks more hero, and why Jagex makes (or people suggest) good things and them people say that they're copying WoW or something? Realism is good on some parts, and bad on others. And RuneScape is improving with realism, so does WoW.
