Hey. I've just finished mining 3000 iron ores, and was wondering if I should bother to smelt them into bars. I know that they sell for more than double, but are much, much harder to sell. So, does the smelting + selling time make up for the profit? Profits are below:

 

 

 

Iron ore: 3000 @ 110ea= 330'000 GP

 

Iron bars: 3000 @ 250ea= 750'000 GP

 

 

 

So, would a profit of 420'000 GP be worth a time of 7 *repetitive* hours of gameplay?

If your smithing is high enough buy coal and then make steel and sell it. Don't forget with iron you'll loose like half of yours ores without a ring so if you cant do steel the just sell the ore.

I'm a member, and i'm now sick of mining, and have on 25'000 GP. I just wondered what method would mean the best profit/time result.

If you are p2p, definitely use enchanted ruby rings if you're going to smelt the ores. Every ring will successfully smelt 140 ores for you. If you need to buy more, they sell them in Zanaris near where they sell the dragon longsword.

you can do steel bars but it's slower or you can do iron bars with ring of forging, remember after every 140 iron bars made the ring will destroy and you will have a risk of losing the iron ore while making the bar

Nonmembers lose more than half of their ore without a ring of forging, and more people are willing to buy iron ore than iron bars, unless you want that extra exp... I suggest you just sell it all for 300k.

What I meant was, would the extra profit be worth the extra time that would be put in? Would all of you do a task that made 420'000 GP for seven hours repetitive smelting?

If i were you i would just stick with selling the ores. It would cost alot more to buy rings for foruging(sp) to smelt the bars. So no it wouldnt be worth the extra time.

If you can make cannonballs do that.

 

Buy as many coal as you can then make the cballs. Then sell cballs and buy more coal and repeat til done.
