Hey guys, i'm looking for some advice on a good efficient method to raise my smithing level (currently 65). I gather all my own raw materials.

 

Also i currently have 1.7k iron bars to smith up... but what should i turn them into? #-o

 

 

 

Mostly doing this to lower the costs of barrow armor repairs in my house. My guthans slipped to 75% the other day. :ohnoes:

Turn the iron bars into arrow heads I would recommend, not the fastest, but the most useful. To raise smithing a fast method is mining gold and smelting with goldsmith gaunts.

i would use your bars on knives. knives are easily sold, or can be used to get you lots of range lvls. also, you could make steel bars and turn those into c balls to make a lot of money. you could buy mith ore, coal ore, and nats and superheat mith bars. you can get 35k smithing exp and 45k mage exp per hour and break even or sometimes even make profit with this.

For the gold smelting, would you say the gold mine you can use from "Between A Rock" Quest, combined with the dwarf that ferries gold to your bank (w/ Ring of Chaos to lower fee), the best method?

Hmm.. I disagree that enough's been said. For one thing, the best method is going to Zanaris, fairy ring BJR to grail castle with pick in inveotry, get a whistle from ground, blow whistle, mine gold, blow whistle, fairy ring, bank, repeat (also, you can glory to edge and fairy ring from there after mining).

 

 

 

Gold is great experience, and it helps crafting.

 

 

 

Another great idea is mith bars through the blast furnace. Do it with a team of 2-4. Sell noted coal and get mithril ore from Nokdolan. Make them into mithril bolts and you'll turn a profit.

As for what to smith with those iron bars to gain exp, it doesn't really matter you're given the same exp. per bar. 5 sets of iron arrow heads is the same as one iron platebody, but if you want cash, I'd go with knives or arrows.

easy to sell, and a decent profit. even if you buy bars, you can get up to 225gp per 5 iron knifes.

The Grail Whistle method beats that helmet mine by a mile. It's no slower, and you get to keep all the ores.

If you want to train smithing effectively, you have to buy your own materials. I'm sorry, that's just the way it is.

 

 

 

Anyway, if you're a member, you could consider using iron bars. Smelt the ores using rings of forging. It's fairly cheap with decent speed.
