Vegeance is your trump card.

I'm not sure that melee is back on top, but it is very obvious that melee is favoured all the time, in everything.

 

 

 

Melee has by far the most equipment options and also gets by far the most updates. Just look at the new god wars dungeon or the recent released new prayers. Magic gets a new magic staff, range a new armour set and melee a new armour set and 2 new weapons.

 

 

 

Then there is the weird situation that melee has 2 skills to lvl and the other two combat methods only one. A maxed out ranger and mage are combat lvl 109-110. THis gives an interesting problem: a lvl 126 should be able to beat a lvl 110. However, should a maxed out warrior (combat 126) be able to defeat a maxed out mage (combat 110)? That would really make the pk triangle obsolete.

 

 

 

Lastly, some months age Jagex has a poll about your favorite combat style. Melee won that poll by far and is officially the most popular combat method. However, is it that players really prefer to be warrior/knight in this game? Or could it be that the other 2 methods are so limited in power or hard to train that players by lack of better choose melee?

 

 

 

I can't give answers to those kind of questions, but I do know that some work needs to be done to the combat system to make it really balanced.

the point of a triangle is that nothing can be on top.. its a 2D shape.. pyramids however...

 

 

 

yeah but I still think the combat triangle is still pretty balanced... godsword pwns dark bow... dark bow pwns barrages.... barrage pwns godsword because they freeze and then step back.. no godsword ownage there.....

 

 

 

You forgot the part where the melee guy puts on d-hide and freezes the mage with Zamorak hilt, no running away from that.

Mage is weak and its impossible to deny. It costs gobs to get to the point where you can hit a 30 and even then good luck with it. My friend gave me a video of him in fight pits, he was using slayer dart against guys in full rune. Splashed about 40% of the time.

 

 

 

I do have an interesting question though. How come with 100 mage defense mages can't hit but with 100 melee defense warriors hit all the time. Its like they make it easier to protect from mages. O wait, isn't the lowest protection prayer protect mage? Funny how the cheapest armor in the game also destroys mage along with cheapest weapon?

 

 

 

Mage is such a lame way to combat as of now. And not just in P2P where there are godswords and DDS's and whips. In F2P it is agruably worse. Max mage attack (Bonus the highest attack is actually 16 for the newbs out there) is like 30 and its impossible to get defense for them. And farcasting?? Bind takes 5 seconds to cast... Rangers got there updates after years of neglect. Now it is mages turn.

Melee is almost always on top range with d bow was for awhile but with the new prayers u can 1 hit alot of people.

 

 

 

It goes range>melee>mage>range But i think that melee can own mage if it gets good special with god sword.

 

 

 

Also to all who say godsword is too slow think about getting hit with a 72 then trying to eat 4 sharks without them hitting 50+ again

ice rrage only hits 30, and i feel dbow was nerfed, besides, its slow and doesnt hit 60s like god sword

 

 

 

ice barrage does splash damage. thats why it only does 30. you can kill multiple players using one cast but does melee or range have anything that can be equivalent against ice spells? no, mage could still be used in pking.

Well personally I think range is on top right now. Have you ever seen the people run into wilderness with only a dark bow and kill on the first special? The d bow can hit double 40s. and if im not mistaken thatÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ã¢ââ¬Å¾Ã¢s the most damage in the game right now.

 

 

 

Not to mention the rune cross bow which has almost every benefitÃÆââââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâæ one handed, good speed, amazing atk bonus, amazing damage, amazing specials.. With rune bolts alone the thing can hit 50s not including the awesome specials.

 

 

 

Right now magic is in need of an update nothing else. Sure it has amazing possibilities such as vengeance and ancients. But to take advantage of its abilities you need the help of range or melee. It is the only atk style of the three which cant be used by its self.

People already pk with it. It protects over everything so no fear. Melee is on top, has been for a while but this sword barely affects its spot on the triangle. Melee has 3 stats to level up, which is triple what mage or range need. Yet if you get both range and mage up you can beat melee for the most part so the triangle is still semi balanced.

 

 

 

Melle has two stats. Ranged has one. Mage one. Defence prayer and hp are all 3.

Most people who pk with godswords don't skull, they just walk around and hope someone is stupid enough to attack them.

 

 

 

I still don't see why you can't pray to protect it.. I guess prayer can be drained many ways but a few extra prayer potions can come in handy.

 

 

 

 

 

Also, I feel mage is underpowered because I am a level 70 mage(82 combat though) and I battle people around my level, and whenever I try to ice burst/rush them it frequently misses, and if I manage to hit them once they switch to range and I get shot through the heart more times than Bon Jovi. Or they just put on d-hide and I have no hope of hitting them at all with ice burst/rush.

Ya so anybody saying you can hit *multiple targets* is stupid. Nobody is going to start barraging in multi. It will get you killed so fast. And in clan wars or something... Well, your going to end up killing your teamates with your barrages and probally get hit by about 10 dbow specials.
