Gangsters & Chavs. What's not / wrong with them?

Featured Replies

"Gangstas" are just losers who don't have the style to be real gangsters.

Are they going to be launched into the sun as well? :P

Yeah, the 'gansta scene is big where I live. It's like instead of chinatown, we have Compton-town. Lol.

Of course they are.

When I am Emperor of the Universe, I will strive to be thorough in my persecution of those I arbitrarily declare undesirable.

I will say this one thing: The only time i seem to have a problem with "Gangstas" is when they are in groups. I've talked to some one on one, and as long as they aren't trying to impress anyone, they act completely normal. It's the whole peer thing that gives them the bad rap.

IGNORE THESE FOUR WORDS

Then the stupid gangster gets another friend with a stupid car, and line up at the beginning of the block. Then all you hear is an extremely loud ''SCREEEECCCHHHH'' and they leave in a cloud of smoke which makes you cough like crazy and the neighborhood smells like smoke.

That's called a burnout and the show is worth the smell. No matter how horrible it is on your engine, transmission, and tires, it's fun to watch. Maybe you're not a car or racing fan like me, but you gotta give them some credit for being about to leave a nice cloud of smoke behind.

Give them some credit? Please. It's the biggest obstruction to the nice peace where I live. The smoke smells horrible and burns your eyes. These cars spew large ugly black smoke and totally make my nice fresh air neighborhood look bad. If they want to burnout, do it in your homeshizzle, not in the nice once-clean neigborhood I CALL HOME.

You go ahead and pretend your neighborhood is perfect, that you're perfect, and that they're horrible people destroying your perfect life. If someone did a burnout in front of my house, I would probably take a picture if it was good enough. Hell, if they had those tired that cause colored smoke, it'd take a video so I could watch it again and again. But you know, I'm not perfect like you and my neighborhood isn't perfect like yours.

i think you lot are getting confused with gangsta's and chavs, the person who started this thread probably dosnt even know what a gangsta is, so your saying if a white kid, wears a flat peek, white T and blue genes , white air forces 1ns, you think hes gangsta? coz thats not chav, and its not gangsta, also ppl who walk with limps aint trying to be gangsta, there trying to act tough and i know because 1 of my best m8 used to do it and he certinaly never dressed how you think a gangsta would dress, so basically, EMOS FTL GANGSTA's ftw kk?

What has the world come to, pfft.

I would my class my self in the gangsta bracket, but it has to be said, some of the 'gangsta' people round my area are real [puncture]s. They talk a different langauge it pisses me off. Thinking their from compton or south london. but still emos are worse lol.

My neighborhood is not ''perfect'' for reasons I will not discuss. All I want to do and my tons of neighbors because this is an apartment neighborhood. Now maybe in de ghetto whar de homie b da righteous d00d, it might be enjoyed. But in these expensive apartments which people pay tons of money for and there are these gangsters that just ruin the overall atmosphere. Where I live, not in de ghetto, this stuff IS NOT enjoyed.

I live in an upper middle class neighborhood and that stuff IS enjoyed. You can't tell me my neighborhood is a ghetto because teenagers like me enjoy that stuff. I live a few blocks away from my school and I occasionally walk up there at night to watch the people who go to the parking lot to do burnouts, doughnuts, and a little racing..

Gangsters of 1930's

Gangster Image

Ah yes, the 1930's, a time where the ruling weapon was the good ole' Tommy gun, and the gangs were white (nothing against blacks, it's just interesting to see the turnaround). If I could travel back to any point in history, this would be my second choice, just so I could be one of these gangsters.

Erm, never heard of a 'chav' where I come from they're 'Gangsta's' or Gangsta-Wanna-'B's. Oh, and no, that's not what I think, weetard. It's the way they walk, talk, they're attitude, clothes, and especially their hate against smarter, intellectual people, and most-likely, Emos. -.-

I dont need a siggy no moar.

I'm friends with some of them, all they want is attention, what's so bad about that.

From my experience there are a few major problems with this subculture.

1. They are promoting "ghetto lifestyle" as if it's something to idolize. It's not "cool" to be extremely poor and living in a neighbourhood infested with theft, drugs, prostitution and murder.

2. They are promoting "gang lifestyle". Even if they aren't acting as true gang members do, they are promoting the image of organized crime. A lot of them use/deal drugs, act tough and/or break the law simply to keep up their "gangsta" image.

3. They try their best to speak in low-class slang, even if they are extremely bright. A lot of them refuse to appear smart and/or studious because they are afraid it will damage their image.

4. It's a fashion disaster!

5. A lot of them will grow up to become actual gang members. Many of the "gangsta" teenagers I know have already dealt with the law a number of times.

If my kid was dressing up as an intimidating gang member, making "brap brap" noises to imitate shooting a gun at people, I would probably get him a shrink. :-k

I shook my head while reading the blatant racism, stereotyping, and ignorance in this thread.

Good job Ray, did you get your little revenge over something that upsetted you over the internet? By demeaning a culture that has been opressed as soon as it shot up?

If I were to say rock culture was all "emo kids" who just sit around crying over their lives, would I be correct? Hell no. So what makes this correct?

So, you think I'm being racist? How? I'm simply saying that I don't like the 'gangsta' trend. You think that's ignorant, racist, or stereotypical? I don't find it is.

It didn't upset me. What makes you think it did? I didn't want revenge. I just thought, if there's a thread for Emo's, why can't there be ones for Gangsta's?

Hmm... If you read, I said, that if you ask some people who act, look, talk like 'Gangsta's', they'd admit they like to be gangsta's in their future. You don't like it when I "Stereotype" then tell the people who stereotype Emo's for cutting themselves, or irish people for having a pot 'o gold at the end of the rainbow, and Americans that simply stereotype Australians with the voice, and that we are all bogans.

I dont need a siggy no moar.

No, it's stereotyping. If I said everyone who's an "emo" slitted thier wrists, I'd be wrong. Just like how you say everyone who says "Yo, homie, what up" would most likely get shot in a drive-by (WTF? You learn this from MTV or soemthing? #-o ) and acts really hard when they're not. And if I have to point out soem of the racism in this thread, then I see no hope for you in the tolerence department.

Because two wrongs make a right, huh? A thread for stereotyping one group justifies stereotyping another. Not the kind of logic I would use.

No they wouldn't, you are once again assuming things about people you don't even know. That's called stereotyping. And no, I don't aprove if their stereotyping, it's wrong across the board. But you stereotyping some other group in response to that doesn't justify anything at all, that's childish. I can't help but pity for you basically categorizing hip-hop and urban culture as just "gangstas". It's amazing how you would miss out on such an amazing culture based on what you see in the mainstream media and take that to heart. It's your loss.

I never said that just because they listen to urban types of music makes them gangsta. And anyway, with the part about 'If you ask them' I asked the kids in my school that act the way I described. And they actually said yes.

Oh, so where baggy clothing, talking with slang, and following the culture makes them "wanna-b gangsta's"? You just keep on proving my point.

You want people to quit stereotyping you and "emos"? Than you can start by dropping the mentality they have.

You don't f*cking get it, do you? I ASKED THEM. Yes, I was stereotyping them for a while. But I asked, they said yes. I don't think that if something is true, it's not stereotyping. Therefore I am not stereotyping anymore. And btw, If you compare, they do, speak and look the same as a gangsta... Just not a good as a real Gangster.

Cool down man, it's the internet.

I don't care if you asked them, they don't represent everyone, they represent them and that's it, a VERY small fraction of the amount of people who do the things you described.

So people who speak and look like "gangstas" are "gangsta"? Wow, I guess I just became gangsta, as did half the nation's youth, considering how I and half the nation use some of the slang and fashion styles you mentioned.

You are obviously not listneing to me, I don't even understand why I keep replying. You refuse to simply stop the "eye for an eye" mentality, so if you refuse to even accept that, than I give up. There's no point debating this.

Number 1; In my neighbourhood, there are a lot. it would be my guess of... 40% of the people wanna be gangsters.

Number 2; If they speak and look like gangsta's, where did they get the Crappy english skills from, and the look? Gangsters. I think so.

@ #1: Because your neighborhood plays major relevancy to the mainstream nation, sure.

@ #2: So? And this makes the culture you're attacking, or the people for that matter, bad? I could do the same you're doing to hip-hop and urban culture to "emo" culture and I know how you'd react, you'd blow your top and point how incorrect I am (which I would be). You've yet to adress the fact that what you're doing is the same thing the people in the "Emo" thread are doing.

Mods, maybe this should be locked, it's going in circles. It's pretty obvious that some of these people are so stubborn they even ackowledge what they're saying doesn;t apply to everyone, so this is going to end up (and already has) being downgraded to a flame war.

After which, they're locked, like this one should be. You didn't learn a damn thing from Ray, nobody did, what's the point of it staying open? To continue our nearly one page argument (it's not a debate if you refuse to acknowledge what I'm saying)?

I was going to spend some time going through and cleaning this, yet most of the posts seem to be either immature, spam, inappropriate, or flaming.

With that being said...
