pokexpert
I usually just stick to one skill but i get bored easily sometimes so it's just my determination and my wants that keep me going.
Chaos_Reborn
Everything comes spontaneously when I train, I might hop from one skill to another just like that. So I don't plan for anything in short. Visit my Runescape comedy website, based on in-game screenshots.

Sumpta
I like multitasking. My "base skill" is slayer, which obviously gets me experience in several combat skills. I save up my dragon bones from tasks until I have enough for a prayer level, to take a break at my gilded altar. When I get a ranging task and my bolts/arrows/cannon balls supply is gone, I mine/smithe a bit. When I run out of monkfish, I fish/cook. My favourite slayer master is Chaeldar, so when I switch tasks, I travel around RS to do some farming rounds (farming + herblore leveling) and to pick up sand buckets and seaweed. When I have enough sand/seaweed, I take a break for crafting. MTK gets me extra seeds, logs for FM and coal/herbs. And so on, and so on. People keep on telling me it'd be faster to use lunar magic or the slayer bracelet for example or to concentrate on getting one skill to 99 (even though the real use of 99's is not clear to me apart from the "honour" in a cape), but I tell them to go mind their own business. My stats are pretty decent, I'm not in want of cash, so my way seems fine to me. Usually, those complainers haven't even got half the total xp I do, so yeah. Don't let other people tell you what to do, do things the way you like to do them.
Maximusa
I like to train all of my skills but what you say is true. If I kept switching between them I wouldnt get anywhere fast, meaning I wouldnt level, meaning I would get bored fast. I figured I would train a skill I enjoy, then partner it with a different skill. Such as.. Mining and smithing. Wc and firemaking. This way I would woodcut a level or 5 then switch to firemaking and gain a level or 5 with that. I then choose to either switch back to woodcutting to train something else. This way I dont get bored and enjoy training all my skills while not interupting my mental state between them. Great thing is when I smith I also use alot of magic so I kinda get magic free. I often use a third skill in the process when training two other partnered skills. Farming is a great skill to train because it interupts all of the other skills when you have to go plant your trees. Once you have done your farming you feel refreshed when you return to whatever you were doing. The negative side of this is.. takes forever to get to 99. But 99 has never been a goal of mine so it works good for me. I know eventually I will hit 99 and be sad I wont train the skill anymore. :-k VMeh BlogV >Miscellaneous Goals< http://www.rsbandb.com/sigs/sig108/bazzaminxer.png
w0ngt0ng
What I do is this: Create a 'goal', not 99, but something smaller. ATM I'm going for all 70's. But you can work on getting 60 / 65 / 70 / 75 etc. F2P | 59/70 smith | 13/15 skills 70+ | 70 smith banked.
SwreeTak
I set up a goal in a skill, for example 70 in ranging (Which is the goal I will go for after I have completed my current one). First I buy the equipment I need, arrows, a bow and some nice ranging armour in this case. Then I choose a good place to train, and stays there training that skill until I have reached my goal. I might train some other skills a little when I get really bored, but just a little. I also visits friends, completes clues if the monsters I kill drops any, doing some minigames and stuff like that, but mostly I keep training. Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak
Doomster
I like related skill pairs: Mining/Smithing, Fishing/Cooking Sometimes concentrating on levels, sometimes on cash. An important thing, is the skill good at that time? If the mine is busy as hell, then go and smith the ores you have. If the Yews are clear thanks to a recent bot-purge, cut Yews. If it's a skill where resource competition matters, and it's particularly bad, then change worlds or change skill.

Earth_Poet
if someone was actually paying me to play the game i'd pick one skill and go to 99 then move to another and so on. that seems like it would be the quickest and most efficient method, because you are not wasting time running and/or teleporting to a bank...changing gear...moving to another location...etc. however...that's boring to me...and nobody is paying me to play. i have no set method or plan that i stick to. i think about what i want to do and what would be fun...then i log on and do it. if i get bored i move on to something else. i might try to grab a random lvl in a skill...or go fight something with decent drops...or whatever. sometimes i worry about skilling...sometimes i could care less. i'm just having fun. lol
