Anyone seen the movie? Or heard Jay-Z's new album? I'm a big fan of Jay-Z, and mind you that I think A Bay Bay and others songs like it are crap crap crap. I bought the album and think it's not too bad. It's no Black Album though. And I also heard the movie was alright, but no Godfather. Comments?

The movie was OK. Probably one of those movies I will not watch again, but enjoyed some the first time through.

That's pretty much what I figured. I can basically tell w/o watching it that there won't be any special surprises or outstanding anything. Just another one of those flicks that come out every year or so that everybody loves because it doesn't suck.

I liked the movie a lot. It wasn't anything groundbreaking, but it was a fresh breath of air as far as movies go. I'd definitely recommend it.

It's earned a fantastic rating on IMDB, but most critics say it's pretty average. I'll make up my own mind when I see it later in the month I guess.

Movie was really, like mentioned above, a breath of fresh air from typical "rise to riches and fall from it" movies. Denzel acting was near flawless, as usual. :)

 

 

 

And the album, whew boy, that was great. It's my fourth favorite Jay album behind Reasonable Doubt, Blueprint, and The Black Album. My favorite tracks are Success (Another great Jay-Nas collabo), Fallin', Blue Magic, and Pray. Definetly one of the best albums this year, up there with Eardrum, Graduation, etc. :D

I saw it a while ago, it's a really great movie. The character portrayed by Washington is perfect in taking his ego out of making business in the underworld, unlike his rivals.

 

 

 

Crowe wasn't really all that impressing as the cop/detective, it seemed he just pulled some of the major clues that led to the arrests, out of his ... rather than figuring them out, as if somebody gave them to him.

 

 

 

It's also interesting this movie is largely based on real life. The black dealer himself is a real person as you'd figured, who did cash in big time by leaving out the 'middle man' from taking a cut of profits.
