November 8, 200718 yr Air is stored in the bag, and then released to play, rather than the conventional "Blow in and make a sound" kind of instruments. You really need a good bit of lung power to get it going. ...But that's about as far as my expertise in the bagpipes lie >.< This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you.

November 8, 200718 yr Being Scottish myself, it was something I was given the option to learn in school. However, I declined as like someone just said, it's quite an effort to play. I think they sound fantastic though. I'm getting married in July and have actually paid for a piper to play at the church :)

He who learns must suffer, and, even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God. - Aeschylus (525 BC - 456 BC)

November 12, 200718 yr I love and hate them. Since my grandfather was a fireman, they played the bagpipes at his funeral. First time ever hearing them. OT: Search Google. And listen to Zonorhc. He may not know what he's talking about, but his advice always works.... for some reason or another...
