Maleficus1055
I REALLY want to learn how to play them. Are there any experienced pipers who could give me pointers on how to start, a good starting pipe, etc.? Tumblr. Follow me!

Poopingman
I could imagine its pretty difficult. They sound awesome, though! Metal fans, check out my band!Still the King....
Bubsa
Air is stored in the bag, and then released to play, rather than the conventional "Blow in and make a sound" kind of instruments. You really need a good bit of lung power to get it going. ...But that's about as far as my expertise in the bagpipes lie >.< This is how much you all raised for charity. Thank you. How2PK
You should PM Phil, or Dan (lateralus). They're from Scotland. So is Onemanarmy if I'm not mistaken. Harrington
Being Scottish myself, it was something I was given the option to learn in school. However, I declined as like someone just said, it's quite an effort to play. I think they sound fantastic though. I'm getting married in July and have actually paid for a piper to play at the church :)

My lack of musical knowledge over-rules my Scottishness :P . He who learns must suffer, and, even in our sleep, pain that cannot forget falls drop by drop upon the heart, and in our own despair, against our will, comes wisdom to us by the awful grace of God. - Aeschylus (525 BC - 456 BC)

Powman3
I love and hate them. Since my grandfather was a fireman, they played the bagpipes at his funeral. First time ever hearing them. OT: Search Google. And listen to Zonorhc. He may not know what he's talking about, but his advice always works.... for some reason or another...
