well im kinda done for this year i think but

last friday was

Iced earth - They were a pile tbh

Lamb of god - Even worse, my ears bled.

Heaven and Hell - AWESOME. Dio is a GOD

and yesterday

Joan Jett and the Blackhearts - pretty damn good

Motorhead - As always, [bleep] brilliant.

Alice Cooper - gotta love his stage show, this time it was a hanging, last time I saw him it was the guillotine. He's brilliant.

I saw Heaven and Hell earlier in the year and they were amazing. Ronnie James Dio is the only man who can look amazing in skin-tight leather at the age of 63 (or however old he is now). That show kicked [wagon].

Arcade fire was a bit of a let-down yesterday...

But...My friend surprised me. He had two tickets to see Editors in Hof te Lo in Antwerp 9 march next year. And it's a smaller hall. Which is much better than those big halls with thousands of people (don't want to sound elitist, but it's nicer really). And that will most likely be one of the last times, considering their popularity at the moment.

  • 2 weeks later...

[bleep], I just went and saw Muse last night and they went off, they were so good, I had seen them before at the big day out, but seeing just them was far better, they had a much longer set.

The warm up act was a NZ band called The Checks, who I thought did a really good job. But Muse, I can't get over how awesome they are live, they truely deserve the crown as one of the best live acts in the world at the moment. It's not just their music, but it's the whole package, with the lighting and everything. The whole arena did an encore cheer for about 10 minutes, never heard anything like it before, haha, Muse came back on too and did two more songs. :D It was an inside arena too, which was cool.

If you haven't seen Muse live I highly recommend. :D

You have to get ahold of the ticket agent selling tickets in your area, and buy off them. If they're sold out, your best bet is off an auction site where you'll have to pay outta your [wagon] for them.

What do you mean by that? Do you mean a website like ticketmaster?

Just bought two tickets for Marylin Manson at the Glasgow Braehead Arena on December 8th. Really looking forward to it, since I haven't seen him live yet. I hear he's totally awesome live and really knows how to put on a show.

He does put on a hell of a show - very extravagent with a lot of extra visual elements etc; very theatrical without being insincere. However, don't expect the set to be too long - he only played about an hour & 15 minutes for each show on his Australian tour, and that included intervals between songs due to costume changes, so probably came down to an hour 5. Probably due to the strain on his voice that comes from his vocal style. Still, be prepared for a kickass show.

I wrote a full review of the Black Crusade for my blog:

[hide]Black Crusade. Mother of all concerts. The thing I've been counting down to for months. Literally. I had it written in my planner the moment I got it, I've had it in my diary since July.

Machine Head, Trivium, Dragonforce, Arch Enemy, Shadows Fall at the MEN Arena.

The venue was awesome, absolutally massive yet we were able to get to within 10m of the guys on stage without being crushed too badly.

First up was Shadows Fall and they set the standard high. The Dudes hair was dreadlocked and down to his ankles. When he circular moshed it took up most of the stage. Now thats cool. The songs were heavy as hell and the pits looked very good. Two on each side with us in the Middle. Safe. Not. "I see two ****** pits out there! I want you to make it one pit, I want everyone moving if they aren't push them till they ****** move". "Awwww **** Here we go again". Shadows fall = 7/10

Next was the band which I have listened to the third most in my entire life, according to last FM. Arch Enemy, the Swedish Melodeath act with a woman singer. Me and Connor pushed right up to the front and left, up infront of Micheal Ammot - the Ginger Guitar God. Arch Enemy opened with Blood on Your Hands and oh my GOD they played it. Time to headband guys. They then played 'Dead Eyes See No Future', a favourite of mine, 'Ravenous' a favourite of Connors and another song off their new album. I knew what was coming then, so I went off to the pits. 'ALL FOR ONE, ONE FOR AAAAALLLLLLLLL'. Nemesis baby. Started off as a regular mosh, then after one of the slow bits it turned into a circle pit. My first one :D Then another acoustic bit and the pit was cleared. I knew what was coming and got in the front row. Wall of death and oh god it was better than I could have hoped. Think the nastiest rugby mall you've ever been in, times it by two then take away the pain and imagine having an eargasm at the same time. The wall collapsed unfortunately and that was a bit messy. I smacked my elbow on the floor and its still hurting now as i type this. Closing song was We Will Rise. 10/10

Then was Dragonforce. LOL. They played way better than I expected and didn't appear to be too drunk. They came on stage kicking each other and proceeded to do stupid things such as syncronised jumping and spinning. It was gimmicky but it made their songs (or one song as it was in my mind, all sounded exactly the same) listentoable. 6/10

Then Trivium. It was at this point that the crowd got pretty violent. I started off about 10 feet from the barrier and the way the crowd was surging, this varied from about 5 feet to 30 feet back. The pushing was pretty bad but I stayed on my feet and managed to get to a relatively safe place - just infront of the big and behind the little ones. Then they played 'A Gunshot to the Head of Trepedition' which got me jumping. I then bunny hopped into the circle pit and got freakin owned so badly. I was elbowed in the face and headbutted within the space of 20 seconds. I stood out the rest of the set except that last two songs - Rain and Pull Harder - when I got elbowed again and I think punched in the back of the head. Proof that Trivium fans are ******

I then set off to find Connor seeing as I had no idea where the hell he ended up in that mess. Drinks and back for the finale. Machine - ******* - Head. They opened with Clenching Fists of the Dissident. From that first grinding bass note, through the beatiful acoustic guitar and punishing riffs to the neo-classic shred and the heartbreaking drop out I was transfixed, almost crying and headbanging like a man possessed. Then imperian, aka my fighting song - the song I listen to before fencing and when working the punch bag. He told us to head bang - I headbanged. He told us to circle pit, I left connor and ****** ran. After that song, I was lucky enough to have been dumped by the Circle Pit about 10 feet from Rob Flynn (lead singer and guitarist - Machine Head) for Aesthetics of Hate. I ended up in the pit again and it was obvious to me that I wasn't going to be leaving it for a while. They then played Old, from Burn my Eyes. It isn't my favourite song of theirs to be fair but I sung along anyway. Then Halo, hoo boy. Guitar solo galore, this song is ace. Then Take my Scars, a song I'm not too familiar with but that was so heavy and evil, I felt as if I knew every note. Then Descend the Shades of Night - a tear jerking acoustic intro into a heart crushing piece of metal. I'd never heard this before but it left me reeling. Then it was time, time for one more. I feel the need to quote his words "Manchester, do you feel free? Then look in my eyes, and let freedom reign... WITH A SHOTGUN BLAAAAAAAAAAASSSST". Davidian. "CIRCLE PIT SHOW US WHAT YOU'RE MADE OF!!!"[/hide]

The best gig I've been to by far and definately in the top 3 best nights of my life. The review had to be edited a bit before being posted here so some bits may not make sense.

I have to agree with you there. Saw the Tour at the NEC Arena, and it was simply amazing. And same as you mentioned, the pits were pretty violent that night - first pit my mate an I went in (one of Shadows Falls, can't remember the song), and we both came out bleeding. Machine Head were best by far in my opinion though.

Oh, and you mentioned Arch Enemy being one of your favourite bands, so this may interest you. Metal Hammer Defenders of the Faith Tour, Opeth and Arch Enemy dual headline, support from DevilDriver and 3 Inches of Blood.

I was hoping to go to V Festival in Perth to see Queens of the Stone Age, Smashing Pumpkins and the Jesus and Mary Chain, but for some ungodly reason, and despite it being an outdoor venue which would draw a large number of underage fans, the [bleep]ers made it 18+.

I'm going to see Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds at 20:00 tonight :)
