November 10, 200718 yr The board has a flood prevention feature that limits how frequently you can make posts, and I understand why. But for some reason it also seems to apply to PMs, which means that if you have a bunch of them, it takes forever to reply to them all. Any chance this could be modified? Thanks. :) Qeltar, aka Charles KozierokWebmaster, RuneScoop - Premium RuneScape Information for Expert Players -- Now Free!Featuring the Ultimate Guide to Dungeoneering -- everything you need to know to get the most of the new skill!
November 10, 200718 yr Hi, Unfortunately some scammers/keyloggers/advertisers use PM's. I believe this is the reason for the flood control, though I understand how it is annoying for the legit user. Laikrob, Tip.It Moderator You're accusing me of bigotry, how ironic. It's a nice attempt at argument, but your responses are facile and asinine, if not diatribe. Who's arrogant now?
November 11, 200718 yr As a user, the flood control can be annoying, especially in help and advice. I can go through and answer half a dozen people in a couple minutes (since their questions are very basic, or even posting a link to a guide to do what they want) but I run into the flood limit. Would it be possible to add this as a rank privilege? (Over 500 posts (or some other number) and you get rid of the flood limit)

(Over 500 posts (or some other number) and you get rid of the flood limit) All of these suggestions that ask for a post limit on privileges usually result in people bringing up the point about spam, however this one is different. I agree; those of us with X many posts should be able to get around the flood filter. (Not asking for special treatment here, but the crew should at least get such privileges, since we have to go around posting quite often in the W U&C boards, and occasionally we need to make multiple posts at once). If you won't get rid of the flood filter, at least make it a bit more manageable for those with the acquired privilege, such as 15 seconds instead of the 30seconds/1minute control that's currently set (whatever it is). don't worry, you are going to "hell" anyway. wanna race to see who gets there first?Officially reached 100 Combat at 1:33PM EST, June 14, 2007First Dragon Drop: Dragon Chain (Dust Devils) @ 10:48PM EST, July 14, 2008, lv113 combat

The PMs were explained by laikrob, but there is no reason why mchainmail's solution couldn't be merged with it. Also, unless people spend a good month or two posting on Tip.It only to spam when they get 500-1000 posts, then what mchain suggested is an extremely simple solution. If not, at least lower the flood control time for the PM system, as it is not used as frequently as posts are, thus it should be equal to posts per minute, as PM's per minute. Average for Posts is 4, the PM's is only 2 per minute, the flood control should be halved for the PM system. Seems fair.
November 13, 200718 yr I'd agree on having the flood limit removed at all on people like Mods, Crewbies and researchers, seeing that they're the ones that might have to post most constantly, and mchain's idea sounds reasonable (though I rarely run onto the post limit outside of the Games Forum). November 13, 200718 yr Sounds fair to me. I wouldn't mind seeing some sort of privilege(s) given to people who have reached a certain post count. Not any privileges that encourage people to reach a certain limit as fast as possible... but little bonuses for people who happen to participate more. Smaller flood limit/larger avatar(?) size/"Senior Member" rank for XXXX count. No flood limit/larger signature AND avatar size/"Veteran Member" for XXXX count. /shrug
November 19, 200718 yr I think that atleast the flood time should be lowered to maybe 20 seconds instead of 30 seconds? Own a forum? Advertise it for Free!!! Forum Promotion - Free Forum AdvertisingThe Freelance Mind - Freelance, Graphics, and Webmaster Discussion forums
