Free players commonly use the boots from the Strong hold of Security. Rangers use the robin boots, or snake skin, and mages use mystic or infinity. November 25, 200718 yr Nothing else to say here, jayc really summed it up. :) Just wanting to add that many people used climbing boots even after armoured boots were released because climbing boots has a strength bonus and armoured boots did not. Armoured boots got an update, though, and now adamant and rune boots have +1 and +2 strength bonuses, respectively. Then dragon boots were released with a +4 strength bonus, and climbing boots are pretty much useless to people not doing the quest they come from, or pures who don't have enough defence to wear adamant, rune, or dragon boots. Before metal boots (I realise they're P2P) and therefore SoS F2P only really had the option of leather boots or nothing. But yes, climbing boots were used by all high levels before they changed metal boots to give strenght bonus. Even when they were changed people were often using climbing boots seeing as they gave the same str bonus as rune, and the defence was only really noticable in the stat screen. November 25, 200718 yr I used leather boots when i was F2P and upgraded to rainbow SoS boots when they came out, but realized that they have a -2(which is a lot for F2P) magic bonus and had to switch back to leather for magic.
