I guess it depends what projection you want to use. If you are a right wing party member and want to boost your case for curbing immigration then of course you are going to take the top figure. On the otherside if you take the projection from "low fertility, low life expectancy, low migration" you get only about a 7m increase by 2051 and dropping to only a 3m increase on 2006 estimations by 2081. The middle of the road figure is about 70m which is only a growth of 10m by 2051.

Thee's no hope in hell of such a small island accomodating 90 million people. I'm in no way xenophobic but all of this immigration, rising birth rates, being taxed on everything etc. are the reasons I really want to get out of the UK as soon as I possibly can. I don't want to live in a horribly overpopulated and possibly very polluted environment, thank you very much.

As far as I'm concerned, "identity" is a weak argument for a person opposing immigration, if they then have no objections to American chains like McDonalds and Microsoft setting up shop after shop here. In fact, I'd say there's a case for racism in that case, since they're more than happy to allow white, Western culture in, but would blindly say 'No' to anything else.

 

 

 

Globalisation, in my honest opinion, is a far bigger threat to "identity" (if such a thing can even be defined) than a group of widely varying races, which in total constitutes <5% of the country's population, even after ten years of supposed 'mass immigration'.

I agree that a majority of immigrants probably keep UK running, they say the NHS wouldn't be able to cope if all the Indians and Middle-Eastern People (Lebanese, Egyptian, Iranian, Iraqi etc etc...) were sent back.

 

 

 

What i disagree with is that asylum seekers have a false prejudice directed towards them. I always think that the prejudice must have come from their past behavior and even places not far from where i live there are very few asylum seekers i seem to get along with. There are some that work really hard to improve the community and i respect that a lot. Working hard in those situations is the only way you can get out of that loop. But being lazy is something i detest and living off hard working peoples' money is even more disgusting. Doing illegal activity to make money i understand is an easy tax free method to survive but if illegal activity goes to the point where it comes to hurting other people or screwing up other peoples' lives they should be shipped out of the country.

As for my avatar. I've expressed countless times in my one and half years here that I in no way support the Stalinist regime. For the matter, I am actually a Socialist who believes in the proletariat gaining power through democratic means, as opposed to the Bolsheviks who belived in forced Communism through a revolution.
