metal dragons and thier bars ...

I have been thinking long about this subject and I think the fact that the metal dragons drop bars is pointless. I don't know of anyone at anytime that has ever collected the bars dropped by them due to lack of inventory space.

So because of this I think 1 of 2 things should be done.

1) add an anvil on 1 of the walls where the bars can be smithed

2) make the bars noted so they can be carried and not left behind and wasted

If it was noted it wouldn't exactly, fit, for the lack of a better word. If you kill a chicken, would it drop noted bones?

I like the anvil thing though. Maybe the anvil requires twice the bars?

Yes, it wouldn't fit. However as it stands they do nothing so noting would be a great improvement.

The whole point is that the bars are useless. If Jagex did that, they mine as well say "we realized that we had useless things in the game, so we are going to give you a solution then take half of it away. happy scaping, as things are just as useless as before \' "

Besides, you're getting bronze, iron, steel, or mith bars. they are worth very little as it stands, no point in making an anvil requiring twice as many bars.

But you are getting bars almost constantly.

Steel Dragons, Tip.It says you get 5 Steel Bars per kill, 100%. Thats 1 Steel plate, which alchs for 1200gp. One Antifire is about 3k, so 3 kills affords 1 whole potion, which can be used for much longer than 3 kills. Of course, you must take food into consideration. The steel plates would alone cover costs for food and potions if you are really high combat, and are maging/ranging, when you need near no food and just antifires.

EDIT: P pots are about 7k. They should be used instead of food if melee. In this case, steel plates would not cover the costs unless you are really good, but they would cover quite a bit. Seeing as they heal about 20pp per does, 1 pot heals 80pp. No idea how much prayer is used per dragon. Going by an assumption of 15, the potion's price would be covered the plates.

All of the above is subject to error and does not included price for nature runes.

My point is it would make metal dragons very easy (in terms of price). If steel bar drops alone can cover all needed items, everything else is pure profit! If you get no drops other than bars, you make profit! (Once again excluding nats)

Is interesting but not realistic suggestion, If they are from metal then is logical then they drop it...

Already rock crabs drop noted seaweed what mean then rock crabs use bank :)

Whatever i support :)

Suggestion: You can use Anchor on Waterfiends - is cheap if to compare to GS & effective with crush attack & it hit like Whip.

Aviansie drop noted addy bar. why not dragon? Good suggestion, I support :D

so do i :D altho, i like the anvil one better ;)

I'm not saying it is a bad idea, but it just doesn't seem "right". When Rockcrabs or Aviansie's drop noted items that's fine, since they are not made of that material.

True, rockcrabs infer that they eat seaweed, and who knows how those birds get addy bars, but neither is really "made" of it. Metal dragons are made of metal, so logically, they should drop it unnoted. Although it is a very good solution, I wish I could say yes, but I can't.

I thought this would be a topic about metal dragons drinking <.<.

Them dropping bars noted? Bad idea. They are made of metal not bank notes.

Anvil in a corner? Good idea. It'll provide a use to those useless bars that they always drop. Though I say that you use the normal bar amount as you seldomly have 10 spare inv spots. Come to think of it, you don't usually have 5 spare inv spots at metal drags. It's a good idea but because of the lack of inv space you usually have at metal drags it might not be used too much.

ok so by what your talking about because they are "made" from these items they should not drop them noted?

Chickens are made of feathers are they not?

feathers stack do they not?

so why not note bars since stacking bars from these drops is a bit too much programming.

Ok your saying the bars gained from this are worth very little?

here is a little scenario.

I am very big on slayer and love the metal dragon tasks. I am in the middle of one as I type this.(gotta love afk). My task is 27 iron dragons. I don't know about you but I tend to kill till I am out of food or pots. So lets just put it at 50 dragons.

I did this chart from the smithing tables on Tip It.

tablexh9.png

From the 50 iron dragons I just killed and smithed the bars they dropped that would be a gain of 6250 exp. That normally would have been left on the ground. And an alch price of 16800. I now that doesn't seem much but add that gold to the gold they drop and the other items your going to alch and total it.

So far in my 1 lvl of slayer I have had a total of 14 steel , 67 iron , 32 bronze dragons in 5 tasks. Now just saying 50 per trip.

Totals if I have smithed and alched nothing but the bars they dropped is.

28,125 exp

103,200

And this is only about a third of my 1 slayer lvl so far. Who knows how many more metal dragons I will get.[/img]

Here's the bad news. I "ranted" about this 2 years, and Andrew gave a reply where he said he considered the metal dragons dropping noted bars. However it would have meant decreasing the value of the other drops and that it did not seem realistic (yeah, he talked about the realism of a Metal Dragon).

Anyway, after that, I offered up the concept of a Metal Dragon Scale that a dwarf NPC (before Keldagrim, so it was Thurgood I think) would trade you for 5 noted steel bars (or 10 noted iron bars if iron scale, or 15 noted bronze bars if bronze scale) for the steel scale similar to how the tanner takes care of hides for you. There was no reply to it, seeing as it's been so long, I think Andrew just kept the dragons as is.

Still, with the Stickied Suggestion forum threads in RSOF, you probably could post this in a high level skill update (combat is a skill, it helps out smithing to boot). Seeing that Dragon bones are decreasing in value and dragon legs are only 500k and dropping, it makes sense to have the metal scales (as a 3k gp drop).

No chickens are made of flesh and bones.

Your saying because chickens drop a 5gp item stacked they should drop notes of items that can be sold for a heck of alot.

NO just no.

Seems like an rsof recommendation because its such a poor idea.

How can you add this and make dragons balanced? YOU CANT! without the hole rs population hating you because you'd have to half the value of dragon legs/skirt/visage.

I actually like that idea better than the one suggested, cause it makes more sense for the metal dragons to drop metal scales.

:XD: :XD: lol :XD: :XD:

-----------------------------------

OT:

If they did infact drop noted bars, the influx of so many bars now on the market would make price drop drastically, assuming that people started to keep the bars and more people would start to kill metals for the bars as well as other drops.

Honestly people that buy iron and coal to make steel bars might start to see a loss in profit. We all know what happens when people lose their main source of revenue :boohoo:

Apparently, my signature was to big.

please note this is a SKELETON , made of bones , and drops 10 noted big bones !!! So there goes this theory of they shouldn't drop the notes because they are made of metal. You may also note that they drop 3 noted steel bars , and also noted silver bars. SO why not dragons too?

Let me set something straight here to all those saying "Why would a dragon carry bank notes?"

Well why would a dragon suddenly break up into perfectly smelted bars once killed, how would you kill a metal dragon with metal?

And why the hell would a dragon be carrying coins, darts, battle axes, helmits, runes, potions, visages, half a shield, sharks, gems clue scrolls, half heys... I mean common, the game isn't based on logic.

If you're going to say the dragon is simply carrying the items of victims, please tell me the last time a dragon had a way to carry something, a way to pick it up, or an interest in tangibles of our human world :roll:

Mithril dragon:

* Gold: 600-3000

* 100%: Dragon bones, Mithril bar(3)

* Weapon: Rune dart(p)(14), Adamant dart(p)(20), Rune battleaxe, Rune spear, Dragon spear, Rune javelin(8), Rune mace, Rune knife(8), Rune 2h sword, Adamant javelin(20)

* Armour: Rune med helm, Rune kiteshield, Rune full helm, Dragon med helm, Dragon full helm

* Runes/Arrows: Blood(27), Soul(10), Nature(67), Rune(8,42), Runite bolts(10-21), Law(45)

* Misc: Draconic visage, Super attack mix(2-dose), Super strength mix(2-dose), Super defence mix(2-dose), Prayer mix(2-dose), Shark(1,6), Uncut gems, Runite bar(1,2), Chewed bones, Ancient page*, Clue scroll(lvl 3), Half key, Shield left half(dragon), Silver ore(100 noted), Nature talisman

* Seeds: -

I support whatever you can work with, it's a good idea, people may overly profit from dragons would be a downside though.

However, this is not a 100% drops.

Unless metal dragons do not 100% drop noted bars, that isn't a good idea...too much free xp.

I always fill up on bars before I teleport out of a metal dragon lair.

I always seem to have space, but maybe that's because I high alch a lot of the loot on the spot.
