Fame and Power on runescape is a very razor edge line to walk. You strive for it but when you finally achieve it do you really want it? For example. Zezima a longtime good friend of mine and many others. He has to keep his privacy on at all times from people bothering him. One day I logged onto MSN and said hey whats up. He said nothin much just skillin. I asked how come he didn't answer my PM in game. He asked if I wanted to see why he doesn't always answer. He turned on his webcam and pointed it at his monitor , then proceeded to turn all privacy ON! It was insane at the amount of scroll on his screen. Picture watching the credits from a movie in fast forward X 100. The text scroll was so fast I couldn't even make out names , and they piled up so fast even if he noticed a person , by the time he scrolled to it , it was gone. Now with all his RS fame he has people making websites to "save Zezima" and people bash him constantly for being a "nerd" for playing as much as he does. Would you really want to be in his shoes? In my time I had my spotlight of fame and popularity but nothing like he deals with. And frankly I myself wouldn't want it. Zez 'ol buddy , you can keep it all my friend! More power to ya! I guess that would make a person extremely immature to bypass a filter to make an offensive or improper name in the first place huh ? And as I said before , look at the avg age of players , and the way they are bypassing chat filters in game to 'swear" at people.

Lets do some edits to the name. KrazyFaken > KrazyFacken > I believe you know what the next edit is. However I had to go through 2 steps to make it truely offensive, if I could take/replace one letter however its a different matter. Well written, Jagex seems to forget which power they hold or just plain lazy, I'd vote on the latter. After all you can edit the name more easily than it is to make sure that CS don't ban him for account interaction. KrazyFaken , replace 1 letter ok ... KrazyF*ken ... replace my star with a U. And tell me it isn't even close to offensive or inappropriate.

Qeltar the flaw in your system is very simple. As I was told 5 years ago by Paul himself when my bank was stolen from me and never returned. "If I do this for you I have to do it for everyone." If they were to impose the things you say would be "fair" then they have to go back and do it for 7 years of banned names to be "fair" because you say they should. Lets see , pay people to fix issues with the names of people who bypassed a filter ( or may be seen as such ) to make things "fair". OR Pay the same people to work on updates that everyone here thinks they deserve on a weekly basis. Pretty clear and simple to me.

On a better note something to think about. In one of the last updates to summoning a picture was put in with the eggs everyone is collecting. Then todays wallpaper. Notice something very similar with these 2 things? notice the color of eggs and creatures. Then the amount of both.

People complaining about Jagex " setting " prices on items are completely wrong. Yes they set the initial price based on what they thought was fair ( or based elsewhere who knows maybe players ) Yet it is us who decides how much we buy and sell for. Jim puts a D chain in the GE for max price. It sits there and isn't sold so Jim reduces the price. Thus reducing the profit. You really think Bill is going to buy for max price? no he will try to buy it as cheap as possible to save money. On the other end , Jim puts a D chain in at the minimum price. It is sold and the overall price is reduced because Jim bought it on the low end. So who is to blame for prices? Jagex for putting the ball in our court or us for being cheapskates and trying to buy things cheap?

you say its not 1 person yet you only give a 1 person example. Engage your own brain and show more proof. 1 example does not change the masses. So your saying that because someone bypassed a filter , they should be allowed to get things back? I don't think so. That is like rewarding the guilty. Not only that , if they did that now they would have to go back 7 years and do it for all those they banned in the past. What I am saying is that because the majority of maturity cannot handle maturity when it comes to such things. As I said how a "child" perceives such words is completely different from an adult. You don't see many adults trying to bypass a chat filter. Nor do you see them walking around calling each other some of the slang terms used in the game. Yes, but that doesn't mean the name was intended as a censor bypass. "Faker" means somebody who fakes something. http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/faker It could only be taken offensively if you want to be offended, it's like saying that "Shiitake mushrooms" is offensive when it isn't. your exmple does not apply to this whereas the word shiitake is used in its proper format. and as far as using the word faker as it is meant to be is one thing. but who is to say that is what it is meant to be? Jagex can't go to every person and say hey what does your name mean or how is it intended to be pronounced.

The name can be seen as it is. Doesn't matter what the person truely intended it to be. With so many people trying to bypass the filters who truely knows what the persons name was "meant" to be. There is no way to. I could make a name and mean it as it looks , but when confronted about it say it was meant another way. And if you don't see the possibility of the name "KrazyFaken" as offensive let me spell it out for you. There are many ways of trying to bypass the filter for swears. Examples of just 1 word. The ever dreaded F word. Fook , Fak , Fuq , Fugger , faker are just a few. Yes I made the word Faker bold due to the uncanny resemblance to the word f*cker. Put that part into another exmaple you may see in game. "you mother faker you stole my training spot." The word faker being used to bypass a filter to get your meaning across.

as usual your msgs of complete nonsense completely befuddle me. 1 person gets a message such as this and you go off about unfairness and whatnot. First off , Jagex has NEVER and will NEVER change names for anyone. Second off , the fact this guy got the offer he did is a hell of alot better than alot of people have in the past. For example Fkedyomomm. A person who was VERY VERY well known in his time for pking , and high stats. Back when server status was up , along with being very active on the original tip it forums. In no way did he ever hide his name or try to reamain unnoticed. Right after he achieved 99 hp on Classic they banned him for his "offensive" name. He was in no was offered any type of compensation for his time or money he paid for members. So this guy is getting it pretty good. Also remember from the T & C of RuneScape. Your character , items , and anything in game belong to Jagex , your only "renting" it. So they can pretty much do as they please. And if you think they are goin on witch hunts for names that "may" be offensive to players , take a look at the highscores sometime. I just did and saw names that to some may be offensive to some people. For example any name refering to Satan to the hardcore religous people. Or for example a tip it mod here named Virgin Queen . Before you put yourself up on this soap box and try to preach about unfairness and how they are doing players wrong stop and think. People say that 60-80% of the players of RuneScape are minors. Minors being under 18 , most being from 12-16 years old. Think of it from a parental point of view. Would you want your children to be playing a game with the names your trying to defend and say should have been left because they put the time into it? As you said Jagex can't keep track or filter every name that is made. So who is at fault when they do find out about the name and threaten to lock it out. Jagex or the person who deliberately knew they were bypassing a filter?

Most of the original players of RS were not "children" so I don't know where you get this idea that it was meant to be for children. It was actually just a small pet project of a student that turned out to be a big thing.There has and always will be hackers , scammers , immaturity here in the game. All the way back to people trying to pass off silver to be the "rare" diamonds that were to be found etc. So to place blame on one source would be wrong. The blame is just popularity in itself. Once a game becomes popular there is kind of a "market" for cheats , hacks , scams.
