adsone
I always see people being called "No-Lifers" or "Nerds" but what makes them No-lifers? Staying online until way into the night, or playing all night and day, many people called n0valyfe a nerd, because he played around 14 hours a day (Correct me if i'm wrong) but really, we're comparing these people to our own sleeping patterns and times, every one is different, unique, so every one has different sleeping patterns and times. Maby Bob can't go on without atleast 8 hours of sleep, but maby Jim can stay awake all night, and still not feel tired in the morning, Bob will call Jim a No-Lifer, but Bob makes this assumption by comparing the times Jim can play on runescape, to his own. But surely no one can go on for a certain time, it must get boring! The answer to this is the same as the above, some people will find something more fun than other people, and thus do it longer. (In this case, playing Runescape) So when we Call some one a No-lifer, are they really no lifers? or just people who can stay awake longer than us, and find things more fun than we do? Dicuss, are the people we're calling No-Lifers or Addicts, really those? or are we just comparing them to our own patterns? P.S Now this isn't a rant about being called a No-Lifer or a Nerd, just a discussion. Another P.S Also, what i've just said doesn't count for every one, i KNOW there is some sort of limit which is when you reach addiction, but most people who are called No-Lifers, aren't even close. Hazbaz0
You have a good point. I can play till about 3 in the morning if i really wanted to, but i just find it moral to get a good night sleep  . I would call someone a 'No-Lifer' if they play the game more then 20 hours a day...which is nearly impossible and you wouldnt be very healthy -.-. Even so, Nerd is such a stupid word and a person who likes to play games shouldnt really be called nerds. Mmm, might edit later... Laughlin33
I think anyone that knows they should sleep, but continues playing anyways is addicted and needs RS rehab.

True...But what about the people that know they don't need sleep, yet are still up at times which people might consider "Late"?
gordhammer1
this is an interesting topic. i play runescape about 3 hours a day, which isnt that much i dont think. now lets see how many hours i play a week. 3 hours a day times 7 days a week. 3*7=21. so that 21 hours a week, now this doesnt sound to bad, unless you think about it like this. 21 hours a week is nearly 1 whole day a week. to me that sounds excessive, but thats only playing 3 hours a day. im not going to compare myself to anyone else who may play more, and i dont think i play excessivly, though it does sound like it when i say i nealry play a day a week. You see, when a mommy noob and a daddy noob really love each other...
wurmskin
There's really no point in calling each other players "nerds" or "no-lifers". All, if not most people who use that insult use it because they're jealous or know they aren't capable of doing what the other person has achieved in an online game. Its either that or they're just some insecure brat who gets a kick out of making other people feel bad. ^ Refresh for a new signature ^
Makoto_the_Phoenix
In many cases, it's a matter of the pot calling the kettle black. The hell's the point? People fail to realize that someone's life is their choice, and whether or not they choose to play a game either all the time, sometimes or not at all is none of their damn business. I don't care what anyone says about anyone else's playing habits. Nobody asked you your opinion on their life, so keep it to yourself. And in addition to everything you just said, it always seems to appear to me that these "your a no lifer nerd" insulters, seem quite sketchy in their own behaviors as well. And those people above, the ones that throw that term around all the time, always seem to fall into one of a few categories. Either, A) they are envious of your character in one way shape or form, be it items, wealth, etc. or B) Cant seem to quite grasp the sheer simplicity behind the game which allows certain people to be where they are. mugged99
I was under the impression that the term 'no lifing' meant (playing rs) for an excessive amount of time rather than doing something else? If someone plays 20 hrs/day it doesn't mean that they CAN stay awake, i dont care who doesnt or does have to sleep. They would be coined as 'no-lifers' because they play (a game) for that long and only have 4 hours for something else. -> I guess you could say its an assumption, that the person who is no-lifing, doesnt have interaction outside (the game) but a fair assumption nonetheless. The Observer
Well, no one has a right to call other people labels, no matter what they do. It's not going to help the situation at all.
jonni
I really don't care if people label me as a "no-lifer" or "nerd". Chances are I don't know them and I never will, they are just a tiny part of my life that will probably never have any effect on me again. dedicate your idle computer power to a scientific project. qeltar
I think someone put it best who said that some people call anyone lower level than they are a "noob" and anyone higher level a "no-lifer". Ignore the latter as you would the former, IMO.
