If I gave you the money today to do either steel or iron which would you choose? : I'd do iron, even though it's slower, but then again, i'm cheap. I'd say if you can get a decent amount of money an hour, like 250k+ on average, its worth doing steel, because in the time you save, you can make back the difference. Im no good money maker xD Right so: Im going to do: Buy Iron Bars - 200 Each 50000 Iron bars for 10mil Make into: Iron Bodies: Makes - 10k Steel bodies If alched: Around 1.5mil back (Including cost of nats) If sold to general: Around 1.2mil back Iron Arrows - Makes - 750k Arrows About 10mil back (I already have enough feathers and I'd make my cut my own normal logs) Smithing Xp for both = 1.25mil Fletching Xp for 2nd = 2.87mil Id say the second method is about 3 times longer. Final level for both method: Smithing - Around 78 Fletching if I use 2nd method - Between 88-90 Which method would you use? alex_lee8
Yeah, do iron knives if you are considering becoming a member, although if it was just for a month i wouldn't recommend it because you have such a good f2p account. You say you aren't a good money maker, but you have 13.5m? How did you make that? What i'd do personally is try and merchant, its a bit of fun when you get into it. But other than that i'd do iron bodies for sure, because when your smithing level gets higher it is an awesome money maker. Hope my ramble helped. Gonalo40
so lets calculate together: high alch reward of an iron plate is: 336.00 gp an iron bar costs about 200ea a nature rune costs ~268 atm for an iron plate you need 5 bars (5*200=1000) simple calculation: 1000-268+336 = 1068 gp for 125 xp in smithing that means: 1 xp = 8,544 gp (lost) same calculation with steel plates: high alch reward of an steel plate is: 1200.00 gp a steel bars costs 550 atm (5*550= 2750) 2750-268+1200 = 3682 gp for 187,5 xp in smithing which means: 1 xp = 19,637 (lost, the fastest method btw) in conclusion we can say that iron plates are more economic but not that fast.. BUT if you buy the coal + iron yourself its much cheaper 1 bar costs only 387 gp (153*2+81) and that gives you +17,5 xp extra for a bar SO we calculate again: 1935-268+1200= 2867 for 205 smithing xp which means: 1 xp = ~14 gp in conclusion: iron plates are pretty good for cheap training but i think you should try steel plates by smelting the steel bars yourself, but i dunno how long it will take to smelt the bars ... your advantage is that coal and iron are much cheaper then before the GE (coal before 200ea, now 153ea, iron before 100ea, now 81 ea) im f2p and the calculations are for f2ps i dont know if its also good for members at the end you will lose money, but if you ONLY smelt the bars and sell the bars you'll make 170-200 each profit lol so thats your decision ;) ]

Naa I think I'll buy members for around 3 months. 5mil of that was given to me. The rest I made from fletching/smithing and runecrafting with some merchanting Im not such a good merchant as I often lose a bit of money, I seem to have a bad habbit of buying mass items like coal at the wrong time and then lose money on them, and then I rush to sell them and they rise again. I really need a 100% fool proof guide to merchanting really :XD: Help me starting out again - Give YOUR advice! If you're collecting in game "hyt's" send me a message here or in game :D
