Ahh yes the good old times I remember this one story me and my friend both had mith plate legs and everytime we equipped them someone would attack us when we deequipped them the attacking would stop so we called them "The Mith Plate Legs of Death"

I rememrb when it first came out.. i was one of the first thousand... no first 10 thousand to play it... it looked horrible and i didnt play it until recently... i didnt know it had advanced.. "so" much...

well when i palyed full rune with 2h cost 930k or sumthing like that, rune larges were 150k back in my day....the good old days....*sigh* I miss them. I remember when there was no wild, mass killing fields. dueling in lumby on members.......When dragon slayer first came out and there was carpentry skills with POH (Player Owned Houses). There was a gate that said coming soon player owned houses. i miss the old days with a passion. :cry: of course back then if u hadrune u were obviously rich. lol i rember the first armors. there only used 2 be iron and bronze armor. also i was mad when i missed the dropping of christmas cracker... i was mad. of course someone pulled a cracker on me at first i was mad because it damaged but there was a phat in it. i sold it to genral store for 10gp lol. what a mistake...then the realease of members...*sigh*

there was a complation thread before tip got updated listing the "history" of RS with updates indexed and dated. I think it got deleted though.

When I started in June 2001, 6 months after it came out, There were rsc graphics. Best armour was addy, Al karhid had just come out, fishing had just come out. You could choose to be a pker or non pker and could only switch 3 times. There were people killing each other everywhere. If you had mith armour or above you were considered high lvled cuz you couldn't see what level people were unless you were a pker. (I might be wrong there with the pker part). There was server status instead of highscores where you could see who was the best on each server. (there were 2 servers btw. There were old runescape forums that got shut down when jagex changed thier site. Wilderness was put in after they took away the old pking system because people were complaining. Once you could actually see people's lvls (when p2p came out) Seeing a level 70 was about equivelent to a 100 today, 80 was about equivelent to seeing a 110 today, 90+ was just godly.

i started it less then a year after it was out the 2nd day i was playin they add so u could see other peoples lvls and every 1 was nice (unlike the A holes now) there was no starter isleland to tell u how to play all u got was a sword and shield and some money i think, after playin it a while me and my friends became members and then u could duel any where it was great if u wanted to go to lummy u duel a high lvl and *poof* in lummy with all ur items the only thing i didnt like when rs2 came out is that u couldnt duel any where well rsc was great when u go on it now thou its crp..... i think rsc came out 2000 xmas so u know

rs came out in 2000 dunno wat date and there was no wilderness u could attack ppl anywere apart from in some towns i think like lumby long time ago so i cant rlly remember, when it first came out mith armour was the best in rs whoever said obviously didnt play then, not too sure on this but i believe there was only like 15 stats or summit twas long time ago so dont quote me and my old rs charcater got banned for flaming a mod so i quit rs till 2 weeks before rs2 came out :oops:

I read somewhere that Runescape was actually made by a kid and there were only like 3 stats and then Jagex bought it from him and made it a lot better and added bunches of stuff...I dunno of its real information tough. Correct me if I'm wrong.

That was when beta started to public ( I'm sure andrew and a few special people tested it on there own private server no one else had access to ) but RS was releashed in januray 4th 2001. I can't beleve weve had 2 people post already that say janray 2001, normally we got some idiot saying 1998 or something.

Yea the game came out sometime in Jan. 2001 and I started playing in Feb 2001. I remember runescape being like tiny compared to what it is now, and how you could be either a ranger, adventurer, warrior or mage i think were the options. Unfortunately I was too noobish then to know about the holiday drops, otherwise i would have like a full set of rares now. :cry: I remember the high prices, asgarnia coming out, new stats, before fatigue and all those good old times. I remember thinking it was so cool when you could see what level people were (you couldnt always).

Ah, a historian I see. Well I almost don't know where to begin. Which is what I said at the time, in fact. But of course it all started with Lumbridge, and the good kingdom of Misthalin. But there was no Al Kharid or Draynor village, and Edgeville was pretty deserted, so people called it Ghost Town.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The world back then was a comparatively good place. People didn't tend to wander around Lumbridge calling each other "noob", because everybody was one. Black knights were the toughest monsters, of which there were three.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The top equipment you could get was adamantite legs, mithril body,adamantite large helmet, adamantite long sword, and iron kite shield. There were no amulets.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Adventurers could, however, sink their teeth into six different quests: the Cook's Assistant, the Restless Ghost, Demon Slayer, Shield of Arrav, Romeo and Juliet and Sheep Shearer.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The main skills were combat, ranged, mining and smithing. Cooking consisted only of cooking meat and bread making. Of course, families have always been divided over the issue of vegetables, and this was literally the case now, with many a warrior dropping dead from scurvy.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mourning partners were in time told that there were plenty more fish in the sea, but this was of little consolation, as no-one knew how to fish yet. There was also no crafting, and Lumbridge's traditional Sunday afternoon craft fairs were a bit of a let down as a result.

I remember the good old days. I remember the black hole in which you could visit players that were sent there and you could buy disk of returning for 10 gps (i think) :shock: :x :roll: . It was so long ago. there was likw 50 people per the server. :P . so there wasnt much lag. I still remember when you created a character you could of chosen different classes such as, "Adventurer", "Wizard", "Miner" and i think that was it i cant see to remember. Adventurer normally got a hatchet, pot, tinderbox and something else. i cant rememer long time ago lol. Wizard got the hat, robe, and yeah. and the miner got the pickaxe of course. Back then when i was a noob (still am) I chose Adventurer because it gave more stuff :lol: . I remember selling iron daggers to the general store in lumby too. Ha when i started I was afraid to die because i would lose my stuff in bank which wasnt true lol. Later in the game i remember X-mas cracker (i still got mine since then :P ) and people selling lots of phats to the general store and i didnt buy any :oops: . I remember the "Old Diamond", and other stuff. good times i dont remember a lot.
