PsyClonz6110
Senior Citizen or not, he still grabbed you by the throat which is blatant assault if I've ever seen it. :P This is a temporary account. Ash6110 is my real one. As soon as I get my account back I will not be using this one anymore. Thanks Ash6110

IGoddessI
So last night, we were having a few drinks at a mates place, since there were no parties on. 30 or 40 people, not too much. A couple of us walk up to the shops and hung around their for half an hour or so. We walk back to the house and discover that the rest of the group is outside, being abused by the next door neighbors. Their letter box had been slightly bent out of place, and apparently it was one of us. Anyway, one of the abusive neighbors was an old man, I'd say around 65 years old. He was being particularly abusive to a couple of girls from our group, swearing and name calling and such. I didn't approve of that at all, so I walk up to him and told him to not talk to them like he was. All of a sudden he clicks it, charges at me and grabs me by the throat. I had a few drinks in me, so i pushed him back, ready to hit him. One of my other mates then jumps in, pushes him to the group and jumps towards him, but was held back by the rest of us. Now even though this senior citizen started the physical contact, if I had hit him, would it have been justified? Post your thoughts. :? You're both as bad as each other. You could have handled the situation better. You could have maturely apologised about the letter box, tell him you'll find out who it is and get them to fix it and you'll take the party back inside and turn the music down and that there'd be no more trouble. He's an old grumpy man, someone broke his letter box, probably a lot of under age drinkers and he got angry. I don't know the reason he was swearing at the girls as you haven't provided it but it would be my guess that alcohol and a bunch of mouthy girls isn't a good combination (if they are). If you handled yourself better he probably wouldn't have went for you. It was wrong of him (and I'm not taking sides, he sounds like a tosser) but you could have prevented things from forming. You made a stupid situation even more difficult than what it had to be. Him to blame = 50% you to blame = 50% My 2 cents. He's a grumpy [bleep] and you were drunk and made rational decisions that were poorly judged. And I'm sure you're aware after a few drinks your perception of what's going on around you is distorted and inaccurate, even slightly exaggerated. Meanwhile grandpa didn't get his beauty sleep and his garden and letter box is probably his pride and joy. I mean if you hadn't been laid for 10 years you probably wouldn't like a bunch of randy teenagers flogging off your letter box either  :P Your friends would be in trouble not you. If he grabbed for your throat, you used reasonable force to push him away. Your friends exceeded this, thus are in deep [cabbage] if grandpa decides to press charges. Personally, I'd get you and the guys together, chip in a lousy 5 bucks each and buy him a new letter box and a sorry card and leave it as water under the bridge. He gets his letter box and your mates probably don't get police knocking on their front door. Win/win situation and let's be honest, you don't have to speak to each other again, just cop it on the chin and handle yourself better in the future. I do have one thing to say to you though: Given the fact you had 30-40 people at your house, grow up and be more reasonable with group numbers. There's no need to have a bunch of 30+ teenage piss heads at your house when people are trying to [bleep]ing sleep. Learn a bit of respect! The only people who tell you that you can't do something are those who have already given up on their own dreams so feel the need to discourage yours. justin_m23
Thanks Goddess, I was waiting for your opinion. :) First of all, I'd like to clear up a few more things that may not have been clear in my first post. - It wasn't my house. :P - I had just arrived to the scene with no background information, saw him verbally abusing one of my friends and told him to back down. Also, the letter box isn't even broken. [hide] It is one of those small wooden types, kind of like this But with a thinner post, and a wooden box. [/hide] It was slanting to one side after the 'vandalism'. This is why I feel his anger was totally unjust. But yes, I do understand your point, thank you. RichieMcD
I had a experience like that before when i was sober. A guy came after us as he thought we fired a firework at his house which we didnt. So anyway he kept telling us to f**k off so i said no and stood my ground, he got out of his car and squared up to me. He kept saying f**k off but i wouldnt move. He eventually hit me after my friend called him a fat bast**d as he was moving towards my friend and i pulled him back. When he hit me the garda (irish police force) were driving by and saw him do it. I was already majorily pissed off with the guy so i hit him in the face which burst his nose while my nose and lip was burst. The garda separated us and took statements...... oddily enough i was the one who got taken to the garda station even though he did more damage to me and he started it. He then got charged with simple assault but i said i wouldnt press charges if he made a public apology to me in front of all who were present. That was sweet
Plugpoint
I'm still wondering how you can call 30-40 people partying in a suburban house 'not that many.' Lol, I was just wondering that I don't know Australian laws and I don't know the full situation, but if he grabbed your throat reactions might have been justified. But then you were probably all pissing him off when he was trying to sleep or something. Maxed 15/06/
justin_m23
Haha nice story Kranked. Update - I found out that this guy isn't even a senior citizen, he is actually a father of someone around my age. So either he had kids really late, or he just looks terrible. Star_Fox
30-40 people would cover up my whole living room. i wouldn't justify hitting an old man when he might be trying to defend his sleep. (although the man could of handled it better) I don't think I've seen Abyssal make one intelligent post ever, and about 90% of his posts are stupid spam responses like this one. Can you get banned for being a moron? if your talking about abyssalwhip, no, he may not be one of the best posters in tif, but he certainly isnt an arrogant snotty little asshat like you whos always PMing me stupid puberty jokes.
rushrock
You know, you probably would be cleared, but it would still be a bad thing to do. Drunken vandalism is really bad enough; the last thing you want to do is to smack around old men.

justin_m23
^That would be a sneaky thing to do, eh. There has been a lot of events happening about this, so I may write up a second part on the first page. :-k Actually, I'll probably fix up part one too, as so much information has been neglected.
