Yeah man, I used to go in the wild in the black night castle, where the minds and chaos spawn. I'd spend like 3 hours and get about 75k worth of runes.

Since October 2003

Funny, those date from around the time that I started playing

Yet again, people talk about the good ol' days and complain about the new updates. When exactly in Runescape history were these "good ol' days"? So far, it's been from 2001-2006. Can one of you give me a specific date for them?

If you haven't been around long enough, then you can't fully appreciate what made RuneScape.

There are four main things people USED do in RuneScape.

1. Player Killing (PKing)

2. Staking

3. Merchanting

4. Skilling

Only 1/4 things remain. But without the first three, skilling is also affected. Lets say you are a Runecrafter. There are now less people with money, which means it will take you longer to sell your runes and it will probably end up at a cheaper price. It will also mean you have to pay more for your essence, since there are less essence miners/bots, which actually helped us.

those 4 are the only things you could come up with? What about monster hunting? How about quests? or even minigames?

76th to reach 99 Construction on 6th of February 2007

379th to reach 99 Runecrafting on 4th of November 2007

I still remember the older old old days ha

I am playing for almost 3 years, RuneScape was super when I started, wilderness, staking and merchanting(my money way:P)

Geez, I'm surprised how much RS has changed, even in the last 3 years :o

I win for oldest picture so far :)

Notice Carpentry?

2004 was when 99 smith was profitable.

2007 was when 99 smith costs 100m+ to buy to 99 and be cool in that grey gold trim cape which rune smithing no longer had a purpose.

Just look at members wearing rune as well as f2p. ::'

Monster hunting wasn't popular back then as kbd was the only lvl 200+ boss monster for at least 2 years i think. Minigames were pretty new stuff since release of rs2. Those 4 things that vapour described were probably the only things players did in pre rs2 i guess.

Strangely with WotLK so near, I wished I could delay it a bit to push through that last TBC content in MH/BT :'(.

I started back in late 03'

I remember fishing lobbies on karamja and selling them into the shop untill i had 10k. I then spent this 10k on full black later for it to be scammed for the old black(g) scam

Later someone in the wildie in like level 30 (i was there to pick up runes and sell) gave me full black then started attacking me. I ran and logged out shocked that i was finally rich. The thought of full rune seemed magical. A few months passed and i finally made my first mill (law running with thehate) and i brought a red mask. Kept it for awhile and traded it for full guthix (worth 1.4m) i was happy with my profit but quickly relised it was a bad mistake and never managed to sell it and buy a red mask again.

Years later staking came along i got rich brought first phat, bragged about it for ages then lost it in a stake then quit. :XD: June 06'

agreed, I never played classic, so I would never know. But my old times were fun as fell.

In your sig...

There wasn't even a beta version of RuneScape 2 in October 2003...

The first beta came in December 2003 and was members only.

You call those the "good old days" of runescape?... wow...

Heres what i see as the good old days of runescape:

Those most certainly weren't "the good old days" lol. Notice even the 'return the main menu' link, meaning that pic has to have been late 05-06+? Good old days were around 02/03 when pking was packed, autoing was an underground thing and rune was actually worth something to pk. Darkdude's pic is a prime example. :)

vinnie002.png

That pic isn't even that old school I posted, it's probably around early 03, but they were the good old days. ;) Edit: Actually, the pic I posted has rune pick and sleeping bag so it is definitely around May? 03.
