The Good Old Days of RuneScape

Featured Replies

Who remembers these good old days?

I found these 2 pictures of my account and wanted to show them.

These pictures were taken on Thursday, November 11, 2004.

It was back then when:

-hitting this high was an achievement

-there was a wild

-you had to manually cook, smith and fletch every individual fish, ore and log. (Example: There was no "cook X lobsters")

I am begining to be happy that I got banned before RuneScape started to lose contrast.

Anyways, these are only my thoughts.

Ahh yes... Back when you had to click for every time you fished, when you couldn't retreat from combat before 3 rounds, and when you couldn't eat in combat. Back when mage pures that were level 30 could own level 100s in stakes of phat sets. Back when you could have 99 range and 10 hp. Back when santa hats were 200k, and blood runes were 1k each. Back when there were no notes, so you either had to trade everything 12 at a time, or make certain things into certificates. Yep, those were the good old days...

I agree with dippymister.

I wrote "These are my views"!

Since October 2003

I remember around that time getting 60 attack at the ogres under the druid tower in Ardougne, and people used to afk there because it was a great training spot. :D I was so excited to use my dragon spear for the first time.

I miss the old times. What was it called? Ah yes, RuneScape. What is it now? Who knows. I think the Jagex staff did not have a childhood, therefore not knowing what we want.

They've become stubborn and hate seeing people make money off their game. So they cleaned the few real world traders from RuneScape. They should have used a broom, paying close attention to everything, instead of a vacuum sucking everything up in it's path, real world traders and us.

Anyone else notice usually the longer a game is out, the worse it gets? A game starts off decent. Then they improve it with lots of unique and exciting ideas. Once they run out of ideas, they decide to kill the game.

One last thing. Remember a while ago many threads were created about another Jagex game called Mechscape? If I remember correctly, people said it was supposed to be released in around 2008. Maybe they're indirectly trying to convert their players to Mechscape. They decided to kill off RuneScape before the new year then release Mechscape. Since people will have quit RuneScape, they will be searching for a new game to play, and may stumble upon Mechscape. If they left RuneScape the way it was, not many people would quit when they discovered Mechscape.

Anyways, those are just my random thoughts.

Not so sure those are that old

Those rocks in the first picture look sorta new

But i was never in the OLD days i came in around 2005

If you do things right people won't be sure you've done anything at all.

Yet again, people talk about the good ol' days and complain about the new updates. When exactly in Runescape history were these "good ol' days"? So far, it's been from 2001-2006. Can one of you give me a specific date for them?

If you haven't been around long enough, then you can't fully appreciate what made RuneScape.

There are four main things people USED do in RuneScape.

1. Player Killing (PKing)

2. Staking

3. Merchanting

4. Skilling

Only 1/4 things remain. But without the first three, skilling is also affected. Lets say you are a Runecrafter. There are now less people with money, which means it will take you longer to sell your runes and it will probably end up at a cheaper price. It will also mean you have to pay more for your essence, since there are less essence miners/bots, which actually helped us.

ah i remember those days where u had to use sleeping bags, a rune dagger looks exactly the same as a r2h :XD: , theres no running, and equips are still in ur inventory. oh and the great party hat dupe when the pink party hat became the least expensive.

and when rs2 first came out some great merchanting got me a white party hat for 3m, which i sold for 8m and never dreamed it would be in the hundreds of millions #-o

I have the BIGGEST cravings to play Classic right now, just wish i could, back then i was a noob but i knew enough to know that PKing was about the best thing to do. I had several PKers, even level 5 twins called Death coach and Deaht coach, they could hit 2's with both melee and range, quite an achievement and we owned varrock. Later on I made a wine trick pure, getting it to around 37 attack with 10 hp but a mate ended up stealing that account, but my favourite times pking where at edge, you'd see black pures welding r2hs and wearing santa hats. That was when castle pking was at its peak.

And omg varrock square market! Saved up all my money and tried to buy a party when when they were 1m, i only had 800k worth of items and i ended up getting scammed and quiting the game for 3 years but hey, it was worth it. Love you rsc <3:

Come to my Clan chat (I'm there if I'm online) if you wish to borrow a Green H'ween mask, Blue H'ween Mask, Red H'ween Mask, or Santa for a reasonable price.

Nice man. Nice hit!

Since October 2003

I agree with dippymister, runescape classic were the good days, Achievements actually ment something, for example when it took me just over an hour to fish 200 raw lobsters, which i traded for a rune chain, my first piece of rune armour, then when I lost that rune chain in my first stake by 1hp to someone 12 levels higher... When people crowded at lumby and draynor to trade, when the wilderness was actually fun, when it was seen as godly to be over 70 combat.

Runescape classic was the best. :D
