Wow Ryan you are such a nice person

84k is irrelevant money for me, you think i'm making money with my sigs?

I make them for fun...

Also, i DO know the rules, these are not copyrighted photos.

You made me give up. You must be happy now.

Don't give up, learn to make them correctly.

Where are you finding these images?

Look, you have my apologies. I'm sorry the way I was so rude, but it's very frustrating seeing people use terms incorrectly and using other people's work. If you found these images off google image search then they are copyrighted.

And to chip in a bit, Ryan was not rude at all. Trust me... if i would have caught you on a bad day, it would be alot worse.

And its true, unless you actualy have the owners permission, or get it from a stock site (such as stocks from deviantart, ect.) You do have no permision to use it at all.

I think you could get good at this, but don't turn into one of those "filter/brush pile + cool picture" kids who realy dominate the media board. Try and come up with your own style. The sigs you posted, if you did some better color schemes for them, they could become decent sigs. I'd sugest maybe sticking with that style, or even branching out and trying new styles.

What i'm saying is, please don't do what almost everyone else on this board does when they arn't pixeling... and that is their "abstracts" or "grunges" with a stolen render put in, badly blended or not.

Ryan, are you talking about the term render(s)?

I'm not Nadril, but have you tried vector maybe? It's a very popular style just not used much on tif.

~_k0m0d0_ - yes, I was but we can be done with this discussion as you stated.

yes, Vector could be an interesting style. Can you draw? that could be great too. What i'm saying realy is experiment. Don't let your style be the same thing as others, I mean, as of now you probaly won't know what your realy "good" at so hop around.

What i mean from hopping around, is like this.

say, you do filter sigs. Eh ok, they arn't going great, Maybe do some brushed stuff?

Well, now that you learned some stuff about brushing, and you can use photoshop better because of filters (you still do learn it lol), maybe you can do space. Hell, brushing works well.

Well... lets say you get decent with composition in space, yay! Now maybe go try landscapes, get Terragen or something. Because you have a decent eye now perhaps, you can make a decent landscape.

But oh... those are getting borring, maybe try abstracts again. You've learned alot about compostion/photoshop/brushing, should try.

well, doing abstracts taught you alot about layer styles and such, time to try and improve those old space sigs, or landscapes!

But hey, found out more about photoshop still, maybe get risky and try out vectors, or some other style.

This isn't a guideline, but just an example. Its kind of what i do now-a-days, i jump around styles. When i think i've learned what there is at the moment for a style, i try a different one, which usualy helps for a different one still :)

So... what i'm saying is, Experiment experiment experiment. Just always try and keep a good eye, and know what looks good and bad. Look at other peoples work, see how they do things. for example, go check out http://www.deviantart.com and go to the gallery for the style your doing, abstract/landscape/ect. and just look at the fav's. See what is done and what isn't :) And it will help you out a ton.

Can you guys tell me exactly what's vector?

I really don't think making a BG, putting a """"""render"""""" on it and saying it's a good sig isnt enough, i want to learn real styles.

As soon as you tell me what's it i'll give it a go :)

I dont know exactly, but I'll give my shot:

I think it is when you draw in your sig, not a pixel one, but you draw a coolg BG (maybe a forest -> just eg) and draw a character, not a RS guy....

komododabst3cn.png

If you are using photoshop, pretty much use the pen tool to make the whole sig. Vectors are actually images that can be resized whenever. They will not get blurry or show pixels.

Browse the vector art section at dA and maybe you can get a hint of what it is:

A. Good start you have here. I hope you keep working on it, regardless of what people's reactions are. It is a fun pursuit for those who stick it out.

B. Rendering is actually a term that is a applied to the PROCESS of constructing the form/scene, etc. It particularly is used to reference the process of shading, etc. that lends the illusion of depth....rendering shadows, etc. It can apply to drawing and often does. Around here a render has taken on the connotation of a 3d render because that is the well recognized term to describe when the program actually renders the scene that you constructed in 3d. But it is not improper to use the term in relation to other art forms.

Dictionary.com

Rendering:

1. To submit or present, as for consideration, approval, or payment: render a bill.

2. To give or make available; provide: render assistance.

3. To give what is due or owed: render thanks; rendered homage.

4. To give in return or retribution: He had to render an apology for his rudeness.

5. To surrender or relinquish; yield.

6.

1. To represent in verbal form; depict: ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬ÅJoyce has attempted... to render... what our participation in life is like̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ

I liked the new sig, It looks like your name burned.... lol!

But, good advices tttia gave, I sould use them too :D

The main difference here in "Render" is not actually the word itself but the word(s) put infront of it. "Artist's Rendition" and "Computer's Rendition"; they may be close in this field, but the two are also very far apart. The lameline is easy to cross and it's up to the artist to figure out how much of the Computer's work should be allowed in their own.

Ryan: It might be annoying to see words being used wrongly (You English Nazi), but I believe thats a couple times that i've seen you start arguments over the subject. As shown, render also doesn't exclusivly apply to 'the finished product of 3d work".

See Ryan, you arent right aswell, I might not be too!

But lets stop this "spamming", cuz this thread should be a rating, not a discussion of what is the word "Render"!

So, as I said before, this subject is over!

komododabst3cn.png

Oh, the sigs? Yeah, they suck. :P Though my first sig was far.. FAR, worse. Luckily a friend of mine pulled me out of that.

It's easy to make abstract backgrounds by just waving the airbrush tool randomly back and forth in PS7+ with some slight changes to brush variables. If you wish to make abstract art in sigs I suggest looking up how to use the airbrush tool. Most benficially the art of making non-random shapes and forms or in other words actually BUILDING your sigs.

Don't get into the habbit of making your art random; compose your art. If you do want to accomplish anything sooner or later you'll also need to study realism. I believe my personal favorite art type is surrealism. Gotta love that stuff.. especially with my eccentric nature.

Good luck, anyways.

SubDivi, was that really necessary? Multiple people have corrected and I dropped the subject. Do you want a freaking formal apology or something? I admit I was wrong and I'll keep my mouth shut now.

Drop it, please.

love your style but the text is bad its got lots of contrast but bad colors sometimes u have the same color text as background and contrasting border i like the third with the black and white checkerboard but the two letters in the middle should be at the begging to have a good transition from the checkerboard type thingie to the rest of the text overall 7/10 for a number rating if you want one

just work on your text and borders and check out the many tutorial sites

google is always your best friend!:)

very soft and good colors, but the text... do something about the text.
