Hydras

I have hundreds of water orbs from waterfiends that won't sell now because I'm sure that the GE is clogged with them due to the vastly increased drop rate and change to notes. So I was thinking of laying my bananas to the side for a bit and making some hydras.

 

 

 

Are these guys decent fighters at all? Honestly the only reason that it matters to me is the fact that they train ranged, and I despise ranged training. Also, do they actually use a long distance attack like Overlords, or do they just move up close and melee like Forge Regents?

They're acceptable, kinda like fire titan (althought I think fire titan is slightly better)

Well talon beasts are better than the titans, so if the titans are better than these guys, that's unfortunate, but oh well. Do you know their max hit or whether or not they use long range attacks?

Well:

 

fire titan can give like 12k mage xp if you are in combat most of the time, where 10k range xp seems the standard for hydra.

 

Never really watched what style attack hydra has. he starts attacking from longer away, but mostly ends up next to the monster if that answers your question.

i've tryed using a hydra myself. to be honest, they're not as efficient as titans because the scrolls aren't combat related and their range based.

The whole reason that I wanted to use them was for the ranged experience, and I usually try not to use scrolls so no worries there. I need to log on and test these already :lol:

I would say yes do them. It would give you the range exp you want, and some summoning exp with it! Why not?

They're sellable, just give it some time, I would know. Almost up to 5k crimsons there from camping... :-#

 

 

 

However, we all know range xp is considered the easiest to get out of all the combat stats. Just save the money and chin.

Range is definately not the easiest experience to get for me :lol: as you can see from my stats, once I use up my stocked up charms ranged will be my lowest combat stat other than prayer, which I really don't see a reson to train much more.

umm i would say that the range exp from the familiars although considerable is still a rather small amount...well the obvious benefits from 99 range is the ability to kill commander zilyana efficiently...as well as armadyl =P chinning at zombies/mm is not that boring =S

 

 

 

looking at the multiple damage you hit and seeing how your exp jumps so fast is quite fun imo lol

Well, I suppose you could always use them to avoid crowds when you chop yew or magic logs by using the scrolls to regrow the one in your patch at the Grand Tree. You could have it all to yourself. Not too shabby, right?

I say you should, but they are incredibly short for such a feared monster >.>

I just tested 2 out on a dust devil task, and even though the fall incredibly short in size...they seem to hit harder than the big ol' titans. Well they max at 15 too, but I think they're more accurate. Also, they shoot fireballs if the target isn't next to it. I got right about 10k range xp from the first hydra like you said that I would...strange that it seems like they hit more than titans. I've only ever used a titan attacking Supreme though...so I guess my experience is a bit limited.
