Chocobodude0
(Note if your graphics card does not meet the requirements for RSHD, there's nothing that can be done about it but buying a new graphics card. This is for those who's graphics cards DO either meet or exceed the reuqirements, but the game still won't load) (If this should be moved to the help forum, feel free to do so, but I thought it'd be more useful here since this forum gets the most traffic, so more people with this problem could see it) I'm sure there has been others like me who woke joyous to find what could be considered one of RS2's biggest updates ever, only to find out their graphcs card wouldn't support the game, which was found odd, since the card meets/exceeds the requirements. I found it weird because my computer has played semi-high-end games like Star Wars: KOTOR and Splinter Cell: Chaos Thoery without a hitch. Even after updating every driver I could think of, no luck. The solution lies (for some cases) in the download section of the Runescape site: 1.) Go to Runescape.com 2.) Click the "Downloads and Wallpaper" section 3.) There is a program at the very top of the list, called "Windows Client". This is basically a program that lets you run RS as you normally would, only without having to log onto an internet program such as Firefox, Internet Explorer, AOL, etc. Naturally, being from Jagex, it is 100% safe and virus free. 4.) Click the "Click Here" to download, and run or save it, whichever you prefer (I saved it, and put on my desktop for convience, so I would reccomend that) 5.) Run it, and it's basically the exact same thing as the normal RS site. 6.) Try HD and see if it works. I can't guarentee this to work, but it did for me and a few others on the RSOF. Once again, note that if your graphics card simply doesn't meet the requirements, this won't do a thing. This is only for those who have graphic cards that meet or exceed the standards, yet can't run the game. It is a beta afterall, and in due time, I sure it will work normally for all who have the ability to run it once the kinks have been worked out. Hope this helps! :D

Except that its probably only going to help the tiny minority of people who have a (probably old) version of Java conflicting with one of their addons\toolbars. So its really not the end-all, be-all "solution for those who can't load HD". Updating your Java will help far more people then using a stripped down version of internet explorer. Explain how you manage to remove it from a windows box. Yes, you can unselect it from add\remove components, but that simply removes the shortcut on the start menu. Internet Explorer is tied so deeply to the foundations of Windows that removing it is hard for all but the techiest of users (No, deleting the executable for internet explorer will not do it - you'll end up with tons of strange error messages, and there are many many more files to it then that.). As for Linux, if you are smart\geeky enough (sterotype, sorry but its true. And yes I do have a Linux bootable CD that I use occasionally) to get that up and running with enough drivers for everyday use you probably know how do basic troubleshooting. snake6man
OMG DUDE I LOVE YOU! this worked for me :) thank you so freakin much! HD Graphics are so amazing! edit: i tried everything else, updated my drivers, updated java, checked the requirments and everything matched up or were better, exept the graphics card. but this is a fairly new computer (got it 6 months ago) so I thought the card would be fine, but it kept saying it wasnt. until i loaded it on jagex's seperate webpage thing. :) so it does work. OK, kuodos to you for trying to help some people. I just found the title very misleading, as in reality it is very unlikely that this will solve many peoples problems, and is thus not needed for a stick nor should be trumpeted as a solultion for those who can't run it. If we made a sticky for every minute change you could make to your pc to possibly allow it to run, the General Discussion page would take a lot longer to load. As for your specific case, I'd bet money that it has to do with your addons or plugins. Disable everything but the barest essentials in IE7, and it will work. Period. If it doesn't, you didn't disable everything. The Jagex "client" does just that; if that works for you IE7 will work if you pinpoint the problem. Sorry, but I just can't see this being useful for virtually anyone with problems running HD. Sure, there might be a few people who benefit from this, but wouldn't it be better posted in the tips section? Advice on how to disable conflicting toolbars\addons\plugins might be somewhat more helpful, if you ever plan on expanding this guide\solution\tip. It's not add-ons either man, because I've tried AOL, AND Firefox with no luck. This works man, plain and simple. It's not so much the user's computer as it probably just a glitch that Jagex needs to fix up, that's all. It's helping people already, so what's the problem. Kevin_
This shouldn't be stickied though, i could play it for a bit without lag, then it stopped working, stopped at 3D library, deleted Java, re-downloaded and it worked fine. Distracted
Can I quickly post a way that could help lessen the lag? Press Ctrl + Alt + Del (if on Vista, click the bottom option, Task Manager), and it should open up the Task Manager. Then, at the top, choose the second option, Processes, and this'll give you a list of all programs running, wether it's on the foreground or on the background. Now look for whatever you're running RS on (for me that's IE because FF won't load it), and right-click it. Look for the one that says priority and choose priority High. All credit goes to Mooch 84 for telling me this, it really helps.
