July 22, 200817 yr I just got an X-Box and about 20 games. I was drawn to play Morrowind first. Is it good? I chose Kahjit as a race, looked good. Anyone got tips and such? Question: The very was to get your attention. Why when I hit a monster it only hits 1/10 of the time? Im a woodelf. Im at the part where I need to get some box for a dude in the fighters guild so he can give me some important info. I need help!
July 22, 200817 yr Some say it's better than Oblivion and I'd have to agree. It is a good game, you can pretty much do whatever you want in the game.
July 22, 200817 yr Go to Balmora as soon as you can. It really depends on what you want to do with your character. For all characters though, it's a good idea to join Fighter's/Mage's Guild. The Imperial Legion also has some benefits, but it's more like a strict version of the fighter's guild. If you want, you can join the Thieve's Guild. It's a good source of money. Generally, you will want to join a lot of guilds to get more experience and get better equipment. Also, if you're going into a cave, ALWAYS HAVE AN ENCHANTED WEAPON. You can't hurt ghosts/wraiths/Spirits any other way.
July 22, 200817 yr I've finally decided to buy and play this game, since it's supposed to be better than Oblivion. Then again that comes from people who love Oblivion, and so I'm not sure I trust them.
July 22, 200817 yr Morrowind is my second favourite game of all time, I absolutely love it. Suggestions for the start are to just explore, don't worry about doing anything in particular. Unless you just want to get straight into the story, then it's probably a good idea to head to Balmora right away like said above.
July 22, 200817 yr Use the giant bug thing Northeast of Sayda Neen its called a Still Strider and just explore and get use to everything and when your more familiar p-mail me and I will walk you throughthe "Creep Train" so you can turn a serious starting profit and also teach you to make a Summon Golden Saint spell that is permanent
July 22, 200817 yr Where's Belmora? Stopped playing and started playing Halo. Well, that was quick. Vienna Raszyn Warsaw Klushino
July 23, 200817 yr Author Where's Belmora? Stopped playing and started playing Halo. Well, that was quick. Lol yea. Im a woodelf with the shadow sign and my weapon is an iron long. I just arrived in Belmora.
July 24, 200817 yr I've finally decided to buy and play this game, since it's supposed to be better than Oblivion. Then again that comes from people who love Oblivion, and so I'm not sure I trust them. So, what do you hate about Oblivion? I'm just curious. Oblivion is all I have, and I don't know if I'm willing to spend more money on a similar game, but I love it. I love walking around Cyrodiil and just enjoying the sites. I love stopping at a random landmark to explore and loot the place, I love doing quests, and I love what the guilds have to offer. I love the sense of freedom Oblivion offers.
July 24, 200817 yr Oblivion and Morrowind are the same in the sense of exploration. The whole island is still huge and you get alot of stuff to explore. And with the expansions, it's even better! The only difference is that the battle system is kinda suckier and some of the other things are a little harder, but if you dont mind trading those for a better storyline and an overall better world, then Morrowind is a better game. As for the Topic starters question: I'm going via memory, so i hope this is right. You go out of balmora to the south, then follow the road to the east. you will see a tower and the path splits north east and south east. Take the north east path and it should take you up to a bridge kinda thing, you cross the bridge. Watch out for some guard person there who will try to kill you, and tonnes of those bird things. There will be a kind of cave to the right of the bridge. As for hitting 1/10, that is how the battle system works.. You wont hit all the time until you train up your weapon skill by trying to fight a lot. I suggest finding lots of mudcrabs before going on your mission. Sig by IkuraiYour Guide to Posting! Behave or I will send my Moose mounted Beaver launchers at you!
July 24, 200817 yr Author I will train up. I have full Chitlin for armor, it was the best I could afford >.^

Then again that comes from people who love Oblivion, and so I'm not sure I trust them. So, what do you hate about Oblivion? I'm just curious. -Poor story -Largely uninteresting world outside of towns (neat to explore the first time, then just dull) -Overuse of the same voice actors -Level-scaling -Unsatisfying combat -Horribly boring dungeons -Terrible quests -Too many damn Oblivion gates (basically like playing "The Library" 10 times over) So ya. I know there's a lot of Oblivion fans here, but damn, I pretty much dislike everything about it. Still crazy enough to give Morrowind and Fallout 3 a try, though.

The main storyline was very much so-so, but the storyline for the Dark Brotherhood or w/e was pretty great. I enjoyed that more than any other part of the game. I agree with you on a lot of those points though man, especially the gates. I ended up just sprinting through the [bleep]ers because they're so boring.
July 24, 200817 yr I agree, too. Too many gates. The same voices annoy the [cabbage] out of me. I agree with many (probably all) of those points, but I still like the game, and is it worth it to buy an entirely different game?
July 24, 200817 yr Ya, Dark Brotherhood was by far the best. However, I did that quest line last, so my opinion had already been formed for the most part.

Can't argue with any of those, they are all true. However all of those problems can be fixed if you have the PC version. The only one that I don't know if anyone has fixed yet is the overuse of voice actors. All the rest have been taken care of with mods except the gates, and there is a console command to close them.
July 24, 200817 yr There aren't gates in Morrowind, are there? About the Dark Brotherhood: [hide=]Right now, I'm at the part of the questline where I can ask for the targets and get my sum of money. I directly speak with the Night Mother on who is getting killed, and I give it to the people in the Dark Brotherhood, and they give me my earnings. Am I at the end?[/hide]
July 24, 200817 yr Author Putter, when you say "The Library", I assume you mean "The Library" level from Halo: Combat Evolved? Sorry it's just that Library level is long and repetitive, like im supposing the Gates are.

I usually like to play vanilla first time through, and since I got this game on release I sort of had to. That and I don't generally replay games in the short term. If I replay it in 5 years, I might check out some mods...we'll see. Putter, when you say "The Library", I assume you mean "The Library" level from Halo: Combat Evolved? Sorry it's just that Library level is long and repetitive, like im supposing the Gates are. That's precisely what I mean.
