Socrates
Runescape as we know it wouldn't work it would be too boring for a console rpg imo. However i'd buy a runescape based game for my ps3 with towns and cities i know, along with armours and weapons. But the click, click, click, click would get older faster on a console. Infernosage4
lol I can already play rs on my jailbroken iPhone. Really? Because I'm pretty sure that Java isn't on the iPhone/iPod Touch. Unless someone ported it into a jiggy application, which I highly doubt, you can't play Runescape on the iPhone/iPod Touch (yet). -.- 269 QP | All Stats 60+ (except Summoning) | Barrows Drops: 8 | Dragon Drops:
Kill_Thomas9
lol I can already play rs on my jailbroken iPhone. Yeah, I tried playing RS on my iPod Touch (iPhone w/o the phone part). Then after about 5 failed attempts I realised it didn't have Java installed. #-o
smartme
"We've always tried to be a very agile company whereby if the players say they want something, or there's something not quite right, we'll fix it there and then," Gower said. Lol'd. +1 But look at the date of that interview. Back then, JAGeX really did listen to players a lot more (in my opinion).

(yay!, someone else got the reference) As for hand-held technology...if runescape were to come as is, then it would definatley not work on them. . . That being said, I would guess that a game on the hand-helds (maybe even on consoles) would never be just like the one online. It would probably be something close to a spin-off, still retain the characteristic qualities of Runescape. . .but without your character.(does that make much sense :? ) I am nice. . . Ginger_Warrior
lots of RS is based around player interaction. I'm intrigued... what interaction would this be? I realise I'm going to end up probably in an argument over whether friendships and emotional attachments can develop without face-to-face interaction, but I really am not referring to that debate. The interaction people have with each other in RS, and the interaction people have in real life is fundamentally different. My friends in RS are not the same as my friends in real life - what the friendship is based on is completely different. In real life, it's about trust and the degree to which I can open up and be honest with my friend, in RuneScape it's more of a co-operation - two people sort of egging each other on (instead of talking about how they feel, or what they've been up to all day, how college/work is, or how their families are [etc.], as RL friends do). To a certain extent, the reason I play video games so much is to escape from people, not simply to plunge myself into a second, disconnected social life and compromise my own individual personal time. When people I don't know try talking to me in-game (in public chat, not HYT chat or private chat), I seldom like responding or trying to maintain a conversation. At times I even feel annoyed or anxious about responding. Why should I respond? I play RuneScape to emerge myself into a world completely disconnected from reality where the same limits in real life don't apply. If Jagex released a smaller version of RS which was totally solo-player, I'd play it. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
kazumaishimaru
^Ginger- I three-quarter heartedly agree with you. (Just under whole-heartedly, but definetly above a half-hearted response) I fail to see the tightly-woven social structure that people claim Runescape to be. Sure some people talk with others to the degree of a real friendship (myself included), but a friend on this game usually means someone who can do you a favour (or vice-versa). I use to try and make friends on the game, but when I had a nice list of people....I only seem to really talk with 3 of them. My list is Much cleaner now. People still call it Social since you can go and get something from someone in the blink of a eye. (be it items or help) I am nice. . .
no_way2go
I don't think rs will be ported to a console but I can see a newer jagex game come out on console & pc (mechscape???). Wonder what that'll give :ugeek: - Back to casual f2p scaping due to limited time (university and girlfriend ) -

cory0302
I think if jagex moves away from browser based runescape it would most likely just be a pc game like Wow, not a console game. Runescape just doesn't seem like a good game for consoles. Yea, I would think it would be a server game like WoW

smilieboy34
Hmm, if it were to be on a handheld console, my best guess is that it would be on a DS, simply because the bottom screen could be the keyboard and have all the tabs such as prayer, skills, and so on and the top screen would be the display. I would not buy it because of 2 reasons. One, I don't want to be caught playing Runescape on a DS and 2, the screen would be way too small and very hard to work with.
