99 fishing

Depends on how much you play a day. I would do either:

73-90: Lobsters or Monks

90: Sharks or Barb Fishing.

You need about 12m exp to get to 99.

The fastest way is heavy rod fishing, which will get you there in approximately 220-240 hours. You will make no profit, but you should get 75 agility, 76 strength, and maybe 80 cooking out of it. However, you will need maybe an hour or two of agility training to start.

The next fastest is fly fishing at Shilo Village. It will take about 270-290 hours, and you will make about 9m gp profit. That's 50 hours longer for 9m gp, which has a time value of 180k gp/hr. So in order for Shilo to be a better choice than heavy rod fishing, you need to make more than 180k/hr, assuming you place no value on strength or agility experience. However, it would take about 35 hours just to get all that agility experience. If you take that into account, you only need to make over 110k gp/hr for Shilo not to be worth it. Since you can easily make more than that catching sharks at 99 fishing, you shouldn't be fly fishing.

The other good method is catching monkfish. Judging by your stats, you haven't done Swan Song, so factoring the time to do the quest into my calculations, getting 99 at monkfish will take you 350-400 hours and will earn you about 44m gp. Compared to heavy rod fishing, that's an extra ~150 hours to get that 44m, or a value of about 300k gp/hr. If you make less than that, monkfish are an excellent option for you. (Yes, even though you haven't done the quest yet. The time it would take is miniscule compared to how much fishing you'll be doing anyway, and the time it would save you.)

Some of the poorer options are lobsters. The have approximately the same catchrate as monkfish, but they're worth less money and less experience. You definitely should not catch lobsters because you don't want to take the time to do the quest, because the time you lose getting 30 xp and 100 gp less per fish is a lot more than the few hours it would take to get the prerequisites and kill the sea troll queen.

Another one is sharks. Don't be fooled by the prospect of more money. The only reason you get more cash is because you need to fish for three times as long as if you caught monkfish. The actual profit is only maybe 120k gp/hr on average, which is nearly identical to that of monkfish. In fact, in the current market, monkfish are actually faster cash than sharks. Shark gloves are not worth the trouble either, as they can't even push the experience above 20k exp/hr, which still pales in comparison to monkfish. You should not catch sharks.

And then there's swordfish. With swordfish gloves they approach the same experience rates as monkfish; however, they are still inferior (once again, even taking into account the time to do the quest).

I don't know how many hours a day you play, but if you gave me a number I could tell you how many days each method would be likely to take you for 99.

This man knows his fishing. I didn't realize how much agility exp you get from heavy rod fishing... I might do that even though I have 99 str and cooking.

If you stick to that timetable...

Monkfish: about 75 days (10-11 weeks)

Heavy rod: about 45 days (6-8 weeks)

Fly fish: about 55 days (7-9 weeks)

Lobsters: about 4 months

Swordfish: about 4 months

Sharks: about 6 months
