Should players who suggest suggestions get credit?

Featured Replies

I don't believe people should get credit. If you look in the forums, a lot of the same ideas are in every suggestion, and most people think that they were the only person who came up with that idea. Besides, jagex works years in advance on ideas before they put them into the game. For all that person knows, they could be stealing an idea a jagex member came up with years ago.

Besides, if someone isn't making the suggestion to improve the game and just to get glory from the idea, then they shouldn't be giving suggestions at all :? .

They should be given credit in text and stuff like that. "Thanks to randomperson61 for giving us this great idea". But that's it. I remember, a few months before summoning came out some noob "was the first one to think of this" and demanded level 99 in the skill. -.-

Thanks to all those who have messaged me concerning a revamp of my Range-Slayer guide. Because of you all I will start rewriting it asap.[/color]

It might have been possible in the first year of RSC. But it would be impossible now because there's no way to know who first suggested it or if JAGeX already had the idea.

Oh yeah, speaking of which, some suggestions might not be welcomed by everyone who plays the games. This could be the wilderness ditch or other stuff, and if the person behind those suggestions had their names published, some might flame them in the game.

Yeah I'd hate to be the player that suggested bounty hunter, Grand Exchange, and a 3k trade limit. That's one where I wouldn't want to take credit. :ohnoes: :ohnoes: :ohnoes:

Not really needed, the player should be happy knowing they have suggested something that was put into the game, isnt that what they wrote the suggestion for in the first place?

lulz wut?

It would be nice.. But the thing is.. Any suggestions are non copyrighted materials that are posted in public... They don't need to give anything.

As to what you wrote about the person on TIF who put the bank suggestion, No, they don't deserve credit IMO. Yes, We all saw his suggestion, the only thing jagex REALLY did to the bank was add tabs... If I'm right NOTHING else was taken. Bank tabs have been suggested COUNTLESS times by TONS of players.. No one player should be recognized for the bank update. (The same goes for the search function.) Come to think about it, wasnt there like 2 or 4 tabs on a bank in classic? Tabbed banking and searching weren't thought up by him, and he wasn't the first to suggest it, just the one who wrote it up, added to it, and kept it alive.

Now something original, never suggested before, and never copied, and taken should get some recognition though (skillcapes for one...)

the trick is to balance all of these methods to get 99 and either play real life or train another skill while farming.

No.

"Because I thought of it first!"

"No I did!"

etc

You don't really have any proof of who had the idea first, so why go into all the politics?

over 2 months before they even inserted it into the game and my thread got maxed out(2k posts) on the forums TWICE and i am 100% sure they got the idea from me -.-

theres NO way to prove that person is the first to think of it.

theres tons of ideas out there that i thought about long before and i even had a good one a couple weeks ago that ive never seen and doubt anyone thought about it but theres no way to prove it so i never bothered posting it

It's not really about the credit. You don't suggest something and then say: "Now credit me for making this suggestion." I also think this is because multiple players may have suggested one suggestion. For example the clan wars arena. It has been suggested since the dawn of runescape repeatedly. (i'm exaggerating there.) So tracking down all those names would be a real hastle. Also if jagex gave credit to people for suggestions, when a player suggests a suggestion that has been suggested more than once and their suggestion of the area/item isn't credited then they might start spamming the forums with "jagex wont accept my suggestion, l/\lTF l\l00l3Z!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Which is just what we need more of on the forums...

Yep, I ranted about Ring Of Life teleporting you out of POH dungeons. My thread got hidden, and next day they fixed it. I even remember what they said, something among the lines of: "In other news, WE have noticed the Ring Of Life teleports you out of POH dungeons which is totally safe, this has been fixed."

WE? And on the note of other people getting credit, some idea's have been posted so many time's it's hard to give credit. But to not give credit to an original idea is senseless.

Haha, a lot of people had said that before you. ;)

How do you know you were the first one to tell jagex that. Thats why they dont give credit, you cant know. You only think you know.

No, it's best for the game to be solely associated by employees. Plus, suggestions are fairly easy, it's writing the code and implementing them into the game which is the part which deserves credit.

Well Runescape is a pretty big game.

Almost anything has been suggested by someone at some point, in game or on forums.

Suggestion forums are usually too quick to keep up with anyway.

On FunOrb, they asked people to come up with the name for a new game they're making.

This is a chance to really make your mark on FunOrb history and have the game that you named permanently featured on our site. Who knows - it may even prove to be more popular than Arcanists and you will be able to say 'I named that'!! :)

Well if they have any sense, they'd know they'd have to give credit to the person they got their idea from, or it would ruin the whole point of the competition and that sentence.

So maybe they only credit it when they do stuff like that, a competition.

let em take it without recognition, then sue em for everything they got  (a d-med and $4.34)

There are tons of suggestions in RSOF, so i was wondering what you guys think of this topic.

Do you think players who made a suggestion should get credit for it, if not "Some membership", but atleast their name on "The idea"???

I've looked at the "New Bank of Runescape" here in TIF, and it has so many pages! But i think i read somewhere that the poster didn't get credit and if there was "Certain" that Jagex really took the idea from the poster or someone else.

I find it so lame that Jagex don't credit players for suggestions: that i can only describe it with two words:

Foney (as in fake) & Cheap!

Correct me if i am wrong though, but ive not heard that Jagex gives credit to players who have suggested ideas that is very similiar to the updates or the same concept.

Players who make suggestions, some make really effort into it. They deserve some regonzition..

A idea to show the players that they have "been helpful" is to : Name their names in Website....

I Agree with everything you said.
