Do you Want Runescape: to have a money/item system?

Featured Replies

i believe at E3 jagex said something about looking into microtransactions for RS and other games like mechscape and possibly funorb. i don't remember exactly, nor can i find the quote, but i remember rs specifically being mentioned. not sure what it would bring, but yeah.

I wouldn't like that too much, but I don't think it would like ruin the game. If the game is still a challenge and if you can't buy everything, that is.

Add me if you so wish: SwreeTak

I remember reading somewhere (maybe Wikipedia?) that Jagex is considering a 3rd MMORPG in 2010 that will have micro-payments.

So it might happen in that game, but I don't know about RuneScape (or even MechScape).

I believe creating a white market was one of the suggestions made to fight the black market, so RWTers would stop breaking the rules and buy game gold legally, but mneh...

Pretty much what Dragon said.

Thread terminated.

I guess that means I'm the thread Terminator?

No Tip.Iters were harmed in the making of this post.

It would start out profitable, but eventually the idea would just lose appeal when everyone has too much money and nothing to do with it. People would stop wanting to waste their money for items that everyone else has. It would ruin the game, and give Jagex a bad rep (since it is currently considered to be a very successful game at the moment).

Jagex said they wouldn't take away free chat because it's a big part of the game. I'm sure they feel the same way about achievements.

It'd just redefine buying 99s.

I have no intrest in helping "keyers" farm xp.

What is your oppion on paying for runescape items/gold for real money, and what would you do if it ever get implented into game in anyway??

I myself would for sure would play less. Ive seen a game where you donated cash and got the greatest items.

You paid fora "Token" =Token cud be used to get for example using Runescape: You could get a "Bandos chestplate".

I hope that this never happens.

The game i saw used donations: had majority with Best stuff and weapon etc...and you had to use your money to achieve anything.

Game is about achievement and challenge, not about "Buying"...

Luck is part of it: Where friends give you stuff. But that's taken out of game.

DICUESS

SecondLife

One of my friends plays this game. I tell him its a waste of money (same could be said for RS...). I mean it doesn't even have that spectacular graphics, and its $15 a month. To get anything at all in the game you need to spent irl cash. Its stupid. THis kind of stuff for MMO's is stupid. Especially for RS, with the immaturity level of most of the fanbase unfortunatly.

Oh...and it's spelled "discuss".

My friends father works for the company that created second life. In fact, it's a fun game to a certain extent. Not only that, but Second life is one of those games that, if you spend irl money for the game, it won't ruin the experience. I mean, it's called Second Life for a reason.

But if RuneScape was to gain a system as such, I wouldn't continue to play until it's either removed or until no one uses it. It takes away the whole purpose of earning power and wealth .

Hoping to get a new Signature (with matching avatar) soon. :D

In the meantime...Steam username: )I'll rewrite it later (add me if you want)

No, and it will never happen.

That is why Jagex shut down real worl trading. They didn't want real world status to affect ingame play.

If they do it like most others, Im willing to bet it goes like this.

You buy "RS Cash" on the site.

There are a range of non-tradeable items (new ones) that cost RS cash to rent

Say 100 RS cash gets you a neon phat for a week.

100 RS cash is 2 bucks.

Something like that. Basically a rent system to keep players coming back for more. I think its extremely stupid.

99 Crafting :: 39,750th || 99 Attack :: 1,775th

i honestly don't kno y u'd post this. jagex said themselves that rwt just gives players the opportunity to use their economic status to gain an advantage and thats not fair. so we already kno jagex won't do this even if we wanted them to.
