22pepsi22
Cowboy Bebop. Damn that was a good show. Perfect characters, perfect story, perfect ending. I would like to watch One Piece, but, can't find any episodes anywhere after... I dunno was it Funimation(?) went crazy after some dude hacked and leaked a brand new episode or something and hunted down every anime fansite and just ripped whatever episodes they had. (except for epsiode 1. I guess to to generate more fans to buy it now.) But, yeah, Bebop, a classic. ;)
Jernlov
 that is all.Oh. I can drive you from evil intent to absolutely murderous, without trolling. Because: I thought Haruhi was immensely overrated and overhyped too. I watched it at first, and I thought "well, this is okay". Then after I'd watched more anime I decided to watch it again. It seemed apparent that it suffered from the same flaws that TTGL does - and by that, I mean ridiculous plotline which I (and a few others I know) found little in, annoying as hell characters and generally being not very entertaining. I watch a fair amount of 'ridiculous' anime, but time travellers? Aliens? F*cking ESPERS? It felt like a smorgasbord of mishaps and bad ideas. Oh, not to mention that pretentious-as-f*ck airing order. What the hell. Also, I would very much like to add that I think the hype about this series should have died out years ago. I can hardly visit any site with anime news without seeing Haruhi everywhere. I hate anime nerds. They never know when to just let something go. Clearly its just differing tastes, but I loved everything about haruhi and always will, even after numerous rewatches. I've watched gurren lagann.. I dunno.. 15 times all the way through, and it just never gets any worse. Perfect, in every possible way.

My taste in anime is quite... strange, to say the least; and it seems to differ quite some from most of the anime fans I know. I'm happy you understand rather than creating a lame argument about it, though. Also, I realised that I made Haruhi seem really bad. I don't think it's bad, and it's a good introductory series for anyone looking to get into anime. But I got into other things, and it just seems average with a few things that really don't appeal to my tastes. Similar with TTGL, although I couldn't get my head around it at all. Anyway, in other news: I'm considering watching Fullmetal Alchemist on recommendation from a friend. I said I was into fantasy/related stuff, so maybe it'll appeal. Nadril
I thought Haruhi was good. A few of the episodes were pretty slow (like the one where they play baseball) but for the most part I enjoyed it. Of course I don't think it compares to something like Lain which I enjoyed a lot more. I probably have pretty similar tastes to SilverSword, haha. I said I was into fantasy/related stuff, so maybe it'll appeal. You haven't seen FMA? That's kinda surprising. I'm not a huge anime freak but I love FMA. Maybe because it has a western fantasy setting . . . it's easier to get into for the casual anime viewer. And I'm so glad for the second anime following the manga :D You should definitely watch the original 51 episode series first though. The episodes of Brotherhood (English name for 2nd series) so far are a bit rushed since they share material with the original. That'll change next episode

I'm quite a casual anime watcher actually, and I seem to enjoy it more that way versus trying to watch every series imaginable. I bet it is. It's so much easier to relate to and enjoy something that's based in/on Western stuff than watching something largely based on Japanese stuff. (Which is the majority of anime, basically. They're good shows - but if you don't know much about Japan, they are rather alienating to new watchers and/or people like yourself, who just want something to watch and enjoy.) Which is largely the reason why I found Aria and Baccano! enjoyable, and I'm quite sure it's the reason why I'm finding Fate/stay Night enjoyable. (Latter is set in Japan, but there is a lot of stuff about Western mythology involved.) I've been keeping up with the news, and I can fairly say that fan response to the new FMA has been, on-the-whole, postive. All the more reason to watch it. Jaziek
I'm just gonna put forward eden of the east as a recommendation as well. Its hard to explain the plot concisely, and I cant think of another anime which it compares to. But it is realistic, in the sense that it happens in modern japan, nobody has any insane super powers or anything, and as much as I hate to use the word deep to describe anything, it is a lot deeper than most others. You've just got to kind of go with it. It doesnt try to suck you in at all, but if you watch, you will be rewarded with one of the most entertaining shows of recent seasons. The only downside is it ends of a cliffhanger, and the movies which continue the plot arent set to come out until late this year in cinemas in Japan. Jernlov
I've only watched one episode of Eden of the East. The animation is absolutely stunning in it. I can't speak for the plot, obviously; but nonetheless I shall watch it all soon. Steam | Soup | Last.fm

The quality's kinda bad since it's streaming and such and it's just fansubs though it'll be a while till Funi deals with Toei about the current OP issue. I wanna watch a lot of stuff right now but it always seems like I pick up on stuff after the hype dies down. Will probably watch Eden or ef, with all the recommendations, after I finish Kanon. Intriguing
Just finished up Devil May Cry. I wasn't too impressed with the show as a whole. The animation was fantastic, I liked the soundtrack and the voice acting, and episodes 10 and 11 were very promising, but episode 12 was dreadful. It could have been a really great show if they have of put an actually storyline into it, instead of just having each episode acting independently from the rest.. Episode 12 and the ending just seemed really unexplained, like.. [hide=]how Dante survived, and why Sid all of a sudden lost his power and was able to be killed by a gun.[/hide] That said, I haven't played any of the games, so maybe they explain it more. But anyway, aside from watching the last 4 episodes of FullMetal Alchemist, that's the last anime for probably a week or two. Next one I'm going to check out is probably Baccano!, though I'm quite interested to see Serial Experiments Lain. (Need more bandwidth allowance.. :() Cool. Jernlov
Yeah, I torrent most of mine too. BoxTorrents (or BakaBT as it's now called) is heaven for stuff like this. Make an account for searching, and then paste the URL of the torrent into IE or whatever other browser you use so you can download it without having to seed it. (Seeing as it's impossible to seed back anyway + semi-public tracker) Steam | Soup | Last.fm

Jaziek
I thought we weren't allowed to link to torrent sites. :? Really? It seems a bit silly that people can say, well I go to X torrent site, and I go to Y torrent site, but if you actually put them as a URL, then its not allowed. But whatever, rules are rules, I'll take out the URL bits.
