SilverSword, you watch very good animes. I'm going to look up some of those suggestions.

I remember you posted the Hyakko OP in the other thread and I loved that anime. Can you (and the other guys if you want) tell me any others that are similar to it?

(Basically just high school girls having fun/slice of life :P like... Gokujou Seitokai, Lucky Star, Minami-Ke, Azumanga Daioh, Pani Poni Dash...)

Hyakko is... well, in a league of its own really. Rarely does an anime make me crack up laughing, but Hyakko had me in tears a couple of times. I don't know of anything directly like it, but have you seen Hidamari Sketch? I think that would be perfect for you.

Also, thanks for the compliment on my taste. ;D Although to be honest, I barely watch anime nowadays.

Just finished watching Neon Genesis Evangelion. My head hasn't exploded yet. And for some reason the word "congratulations" is stuck in my head.

Probably the wierdest ending to any anime, ever.

But South Korea and Japan aren't even THAT far from each other. So Koreans shouldn't technically be called weaboos when they like Japanese stuff.

I hereby deem episode 9 of Clannad to be the saddest anime episode in history. Does anyone disagree?

I disagree.

I didn't find it all that sad. Episodes 16 and 21 (After Story) are sadder than 9 (The one you mention).

I found episode 18 (when Tomoya finally starts acting like Ushio's father) and episode 19 (where Tomoya settles things with his dad) to be sad as well as those. If I didn't play the visual novel before watching, then maybe it'd have a bigger impact or something.

And I'm doing the same thing for Kanon right now. Going through the VN first then anime.

There is a game of Clannad. It's basically a novel with pictures and text that you 'play', hence 'visual novel'.

I call them reality escapism games, but whatever floats your boat I guess.

Finished up Melancholy, pretty damn good. (just watched all the EP's back to back which is rare for me).

I didn't manage to fit in episode "00" to anything though (which was the movie they showed), does it really fit into the plotline at all or whats the deal with that? I did find it odd that there was no real... ending to it really. Still it was awesome, a bit of a mind [bleep] there for a moment too with everything going on.

Think I'll watch Elfen Lied next, since it's just 13 EP's.

You really must've been bored if you've finished that quickly. Anyways episode 00 is just for laughs, nothing really contributing to the story except for the school festival part.

As for it not finishing season 2 just started airing like 3 weeks ago.

yeah ep 00 fits just before ep 12 chronologically.

you watched all 14 episodes right? It should either have been melancholy part 6 or someday in the rain last. And they both have kind of an endy feel to them.

I know geography dude. But you said half-Korean, so go figure.

Whoa guys, no need to get angry.

I'm Japanese but I still consider myself a weeaboo, to an extent at least.

Well after sort of thinking of it it did sort of have an ending feeling too it. It kind of felt like that after all that she was starting to be happy and satisfied with her world, so I guess it wrapped it up. (I finished it on EP 13 so I think that's someday in the rain). Still I think it did leave me wanting to know more, which I guess is what season 2 is for.

I'm also like 3/4th done with Elfen Lied. Man, this show can get pretty [bleep]ed up on a couple of levels.

Still even though I felt the beginning moved a bit slow for a little bit there (and the plot at first seemed sort of... odd) it's starting to make a lot more sense and [cabbage] is starting to come together now (Just finished EP 09).

I was going to suggest The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya untill I read this. Bloody hell. Slow down. Why are you cramming anime ?

Also, yep, Melancholy is one the most original ones I've seen.

Man, this show can get pretty [bleep] up on a couple of levels.

Hmm. Do you suggest it ? Does anyone reccommend it ? I've been thinking to watch some anime, and like Nadril, need suggestions.

It's pretty good so far. I mean, don't get me wrong it is very [bleep]ed up at times (read up on the wiki page) but it's pretty good.

Told you man, I literally got nothing to do haha. It's summer, I don't have (and can't find, [bleep]ing job market) a job and I don't know anyone here, due to my parents moving after I finished high school (so this isn't just an old high school town that I can hang with some old friends).

Needless to say it's pretty boring here right now.

Yeah, I remember you mentioning somwhere else it was summer holidays. Forgot about that. Apparantly you played some Xbox 360 games for several hours.

EDIT: Here it is.

My summer has been crazy productive so far... (Can't find a [bleep] job so nothing to do).

Woke up at 12:30pm today, made myself a bowl of cereal and got on the PC. Played a little bit of lineage II, then some Prototype and then back to L2. Made some supper, mucked around on the PC a bit more, downloaded a .CDI for my dreamcast of a capcom fighting collection (excellent, btw.) and played some TF2. Now it's 5:30am and time to go to bed.

Seriously though, I've never been so bored. :P The problem is that I know no one here in Virginia, because my family moved right after I graduated high school. And with no job currently there just isn't much to do (other than work on my portfolio when I get the time).

Haha I used to do the same thing of cramming anime last summer. I burnt out on it after a while though, and didn't watch any until about September. I tend to watch stuff kind of randomly now. For example, I'll go days without watching anything at all and then suddenly watch a whole 13 episode series in one go.

Generally I tend to watch 2 episodes of something a day. Any more than that feels like a chore.

Yeah I just haven't really watched anything in forever.

I finished up Elfen Lied... man that really was pretty [bleep]ed up Riku. I enjoyed it but it's just like they decided to do every saddest thing you could imagine and throw it all into a blender. :?

Think I'm going to do Lain next. :)

I just watched the first two episodes of the new Fullmetal Alchemist series.

Really excited to see this one follow the manga all the way to the end. It started out pretty strong, although you can tell it caters to the people who have at least already seen the first anime. They're rushing through the parts that are the same between the two.

Hopefully it will slow down and flesh out once they hit Greed.

Never got into Elfen Lied myself. I'm not a fan of gratitious violence and gore.

I think you'd like Higurashi no Naku Koro ni also. Elfen Lied is even the top recommendation there for fans of it. Despite the large amount of gore and violence in it, I thought it was great.

Watching Lain quickly is kinda hard because it's just so oppressive, but yeah. You'd probably like it.

The only thing I didn't really like about Elfen Lied is it seemed really forced at times. Like I said it seemed like they wanted to make you sad, and they wanted to just make the most [bleep]ed up kind of situation possible. It moved pretty slow at times too. I wouldn't really call it a favorite, but I didn't mind the style at all.

And yeah we'll see how I do with Lain. :) I'll probably end up watching Baccano! after lain just for something light hearted to switch up the mood :P.

Baccano! isn't too light-hearted (it actually gets pretty intense at times), but yeah. Completely different atmosphere from Haruhi, EL and Lain. Baccano! reminded me that anime doesn't have to be set in the present or the future to be good, and it's also the only action anime I ever got into.

Most likely your thing if you enjoy brilliantly-animated badassery.

brilliantly-animated badassery is awesome. :P

And yeah I guess light hearted was the wrong word, I just meant something not as... meaningful as those other 3. Just a bunch of action :P

Yep. That's basically what Baccano! is! It has its hilarious moments too, but most of it is more like 'holy f*ck, this is awesome!'

I watched it all in one go. And I can't recommend it enough to any fans of TTGL, Code Geass, etc.
