great discussion going on people, let me just point some stuff out,

im not slagging off f2p, i dont think theres anything wrong with them getting updates

i was just curious to see what people thought of the influx of f2p updates and wheter or not it would continue

OT: i doubt this influx is due to, as some people think, jagex replacing the wilderness after all its been over 6 months...

My theroy is that now the new graphics are complete, bar a few bugs, jagex probaly has some more resources to spare and i wouldnt be surprised if some of that is going towards updating F2p more often

Theres a fine line between not listening and not caring,

I like to think I walk this line every day.

Pinning blame on Jagex is like trying to put pants on an old man.

You both know he needs them, but he'll just keep dancing around, avoiding them at all costs.

they'll probably continue to give f2p updates then not give them any for years. plus that resizable window is a nice touch i would just like to see updates that had more of an impact.

I don't care how much updates f2p gets. Because anything they get p2p gets and more. So I'm staying members. \'

I'm willing to believe that it's just Jagex being generous again.

Companies aren't just generous for the sake of it. No company simply thinks 'hmm i'm in a good mood today, lets give them a bit extra'. It's all done with a reason, be it to generate more revenue/customers, or to increase the reputation of the company, or to bolster loyalty among its existing customers.

In the case of Runescape, i would say it's the first option. The game has barely grown in over a year, if anything the total number has declined slightly. I said in a post on another thread that it's a typical stage in an MMO's lifecycle, where all the people that are likely to be interested in playing it are playing already and the game no longer increases in size. RS is clearly in this stage and if you look at some recent F2p updates, a lot are geared towards creating a better first impression in the hope to keep more of the people that just sign up to see what it's like.

So, before the price change happens, you might want to take advantage of the lower RuneScape price!

They're just Trying to tempt F2Pers into Members.

The only reason they're doing a lot of F2P at the moment is because RS HD has just come out.

It's simple marketing techniques, you make "free" look like it's getting a lot then after so many updates you stop them pretty much completely and bang-on about how good members is and make updates for it weekly, thus more people sign up and Jagex get more money.
