How2PK
Punk4ever, Greenday started in 1987, according to the information I got, not at the end of the 90's. I also got told their older "non-commercial" music is really good and different than what produce now. Information: Source one Source two By 1989, the group had added drummer Al Sobrante and changed their name to Green Day. Signature by Maurice SendakWhen the stars make you drool just like a pasta fazool, that's amore!
NorthernHero
The way I see it, greenday has always been a pop punk band. It just wasn't that heavily 'pop' until now. Dunno if it should be just called rock now, or pop. And yeah, the earlier stuff is MUCH better than the stuff today imo. Reality is hundreds of times more beautiful and more interesting than delusions. Fairy tales just tend to be easier to follow than the wonderful intricacies of life. DarkRider
strike anywhere, distillers, bouncing souls (kind of indie punk, awesome nonetheless), gotta love that flogging molly, against me!, propaghandi. The list goes on and on.
mk
those of you in the UK may have heard, they did a top 10 (or 20?) punk songs on radio 1. I was shocked and disgusted to see greenday at number 1. whats the world coming to? have people forgotten what punk is??
Darksavior69
I prefer Ska. RBF + Catch 22 for the win. Just because you dont like them and most of their songs are very poplike doesnt mean Greenday are NOT punk. Their genre is punk rock and thats what the BBC played in their charts. Just because you don't like them (nor do I btw) doesnt mean they don't have a right to be in that chart. Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape. Predator
Punk/rock is ok, I rarely listen to it now, but I used to love AFI. They have some great songs. The thing I don't like most about Punk/Punk rock is that usually they have good chorus's with great tunes, but the verses are always the same thing, the singer singing a verse with the same music in the background until the chorus kicks in, then they say a different verse with the same semi-boring music going on until the chorus kicks in again. Sorry if you don't feel that's true, but that's what I notice.

hockEynfish
I realy like Blink 182s songs I dont care how old they are lol. But i agree with somebody who just posted thatthe chorus's are good but the rest of the song is kind of boring. i noticed that too. especially in one ofmy fav. songs: adams song gets boring buti really love the chorus. Taking Back Sunday and Falloutboy are another favorite of mine but i like all there songs and all of it
unknownmasterofnothing
I don't really see the difference between "punk" and rock. People say rancid and bad religion are punk. But I don't hear a difference. The only thing i can tell is if I see their picture and supposedly they are supposed to be punk.
Herr
But I don't hear a difference. The only thing i can tell is if I see their picture and supposedly they are supposed to be punk. Bad Religion don't 'dress punk', it's what they sing about. It's incredibly intelligent and very well reasoned - their lyrics are what I like most about them. They aren't one of those stupid "anarchy!!!11" punk bands, or one which whines about girls - the lead singer, Greg Graffin, has a PhD. Unlike Anti-Flag, whose lyrics are quite pathetic in my opinion. Yes, I'd say it's the lyrics. Other things that seperate punk from rock is that punk often more faster than rock. Also in many punk bands there seems to be this.. how to say it, trashy sound? Compared to rock. In most cases I could regognize which is punk and which is rock. Reality is hundreds of times more beautiful and more interesting than delusions. Simple plan- Nowhere near suicidal music Linkin park- About the same Skillet- probably....but they're Christian, so it's all good Another "pop punk" group is Anberlin, they have a good song. Linkin Park is for people who are insecure about themselves and does have many hints to suicide in their lyrics. 'In the End' 'One step closer' C'mon, think about the meanings of those titles for a moment.

Listening to linkin park does not mean you are insecrue or suicidal  What gets to me more then anything else about music is how people think they are better then others because of what they listen to. I listen to basically all types of music at least a little bit some very little (like r&b and country). I have a skater kid friend who looks down on anyone who likes "emo rock" or basically anything where a concert would not invovle a mosh pit. You should listen to music that you like when you want to not because its on a chart and popular and not because it's not on a chart. Sometimes if im in the active mood ill listen to something like reel big fish but if I wanna chill out ill listen to something like coldplay. Mercifull
Ive always wondered exactly what Music Genre you would classify SOAD as being in. Answers.com recons they are "alternative metal" but what is Aleternative? Some of their songs are very odd and they are pretty unique as a band. mmm *ponders again* Mercifull <3 Suzi "We don't want players to be able to buy their way to success in RuneScape.
