Anyone got Google Chrome working with RS yet?

REDACTED

Recommended Posts

I have read a few posts around the forum of people saying such things that Google Chrome "wont play the game properly in fullscreen" or "This should make RS quicker"

Well these comments confuse me simply because I know myself and others haven't gotten it to work yet due to:

So has anyone here truly got it to work? if so could you please explain how?

Thanks :)

There's no confirmed way to get it to work right now. Google will have to create a plugin that will run Javascript, and in turn, runescape.

I was going to eat hot dogs for dinner tonight. I think I will settle for cereal.

It actually runs on Chrome for me, my only problem is that full screen has the same problem as Internet Explorer does. When I try to go full screen I get a blank white screen. If I try it a few times it eventually works, after getting full screen it's fine until I need to play it again. Firefox doesn't have this problem.

But RuneScape doesn't run with JavaScript. It runs with Java. There is a difference, I promise you.

I've heard tale that one can get Java to run with the new 6.10 update (BETA), but I'd advise against it until that becomes stable. Wouldn't it just suck to be playing RS and then get disconnected at some critical juncture because of it...?

...Alright, the Elf City update lured me back to RS over a year ago.

I totally agree, I only run RS on FF2 at the moment as I found that is the most stable platform for the game. This is partly Jagaex's fault as they released the HD version when it still has major issues with the full screen mode :( Sorry guys, I love the game and what you do, but it's the truth: Full screen has big issues with different browsers, IE for one. I find I get the WHITE SCREEN OF NOTHING quite often, and I think I know why: When entering the full screen you fade from a white screen quickly to the game, but I think some browsers kinda get stuck on the total white bit. The game is actually running, I know this as if I CTRL+TAB I get a glimpse of the game as it returns to non full screen.

Please sort that one out.

Hm, i'm surprised you got so many problems running on fullscreen.

FF3 is unstable to me (not just RS, but in general). But IE7, Opera and Safari has worked for me without problems on fullscreen (altho i run in window mode 90% of the time). I've never got a "white screen of nothing".

i downloaded the 6.10 java update, and i can play rs in chrome. it just lags for me more often, and i highly prefer the runescape official client. i just like my rs in a separate window and everything. runs fine for me in the client, i may eventually switch over to chrome once the java update and chrome become more stable.

Runescape doesn't work at all for me on Chrome. Well, I suppose it still is in BETA mode

It doesn't work for anybody lol

Is that a fact? Nope as it works for me :P

I highly prefer the runescape official client.

Official client is nothing more than an Internet Explorer window.

Go firefox, there isn't a way I've heard of, just works for some people.

I actually found a fix or at least it worked for me. Install JRE 6 Update 10RC. Just select the right one for your OS. I seem to be playing on a free world lag free.

Gah! Beat me to it! lol. Though I can verify that this does fix the Java plugin problem.

Which one do I click? I am using Windows, but I am slightly confused, which one do I download or are they all the same?

EDIT: Runescape has now become very strange, I can only play it in Chrome on a fixed screen. Very weird. :?

You would do the second one under windows. The online installation. You could also do the third one down the offline installation.

Try searching mscvr71.dll in Search, finding the file that goes to your system32 folder, and copying it.

Next go into Program Files--->Google Chrome

Then paste it into any programs/classes folders, and in the main folder.

This is what I had to do to get it to work in Opera anyway, thought maybe it might work
