Promise
So far, a really good start. Also, could someone help me with my color pallets? Is there any way to get the pallet to show only shades of brown? 230+ Layers on V. 5 About 70% completed. [hide=V. 1 (Gloves only)][/hide] [hide=V. 2]Some shading added. Needs to be touched up a bit, but I can fix that later. You may notice the botom half of him is missing...I forgot to unhide that...and I'm really lazy. :wall: [/hide] [hide=V.3]Just about done with Pretty Boy. I honestly don't know why his shorts are like that. [/hide] [hide=V.4]Started at the same place, which would be my favorite, the gloves. :D Basic outline was done as well. Next version will have the basic shading. Oh yeah, his mysterious "wood" has been removed as well. Gatta hide that bad boy, there's children on this forum. :P [/hide] [hide=V.5]IM NOT DONE WITH HIS FACE :twss: [/hide]
AndyPandy
The actual vector work is awesome! But the pose seems a little off, it really doesn't look like there's any force behind the punch, because his arm looks like it's bent slightly upwards, also, his left hand doesn't seem to connect with the other guy's face. Otherwise, very impressive! So don't let anyone tell you you're not worth the earth, These streets are your streets, this turf is your turf, Don't let anyone tell you that you've got to give in, Cos you can make a difference, you can change everything, Just let your dreams be your pilot, your imagination your fuel, Tear up the book and write your own damn rules, Use all that heart, hope and soul that you've got, And the love and the rage that you feel in your gut, And realise that the other world that you're always looking for, Lies right here in front of us, just outside this door, And it's up to you to go out there and paint the canvas, After all, you were put on the earth to do this, So shine your light so bright that all can see, Take pride in being whoever the [bleep] you want to be. Jopie211
It looks pretty good so far, can't say much yet though - and even then, I doubt I'd be able to give you much advice becuase I don't know a lot about vector art. pixel avvy by me deviantART

Otherwise, very impressive! It looks bent because his biceps are so huge they bulge out. Its really hard to add muscle tone in vectors, especially for pretty boy. I'm thinking i'll make it look strait or spend an hour or two working only on that arm. This is the render.
Shiny
I don't think that is a proper vector. It is saved as .png, which can't do vectors. I zoomed in and it was piixely. Anyway, very good so far. Nice colours and composition. Can't wait for more.

The only thing that can do that is in the actual .PSD or illustrator file (or whatever program you use). Anyways, looking good on the vector so far. Thanks for explaining that for me. : And a big thanks for all the nice stuff. Its what really motivates me to finish this. If you didn't know a good vector takes around 10 hours to do just one person. But that's with detailed shading and such. They're very time consuming. :|
Nadril
Yeah I certainly can believe it's very time consuming. I did vectors a tad bit in college last year, nothing big though. Although working with the spline tool in 3DSM (kind of the equivalent to line tool in PS/Illustrator) makes me go crazy :P
dsavi
^ I hate the pentool in PS enough, adding a 3rd dimension sounds awful... Gimp pentool FTW. It looks good so far, be sure to update us on the progress.

It looks good so far, be sure to update us on the progress. Once you get used to the pen tool, it can be used for just about anything. Its actually my favorite tool and probably the most useful for my needs. It makes cutting out images much easier than using a magnetic lasso tool. It's a tool definitely worth learning how to use. dsavi
I would personally use the quick selection tool, but I think that's a new feature with PS CS3 so it isn't widely available. The problem is that the functionality of the GIMP pentool is spread among like 5 tools in PS, and all nodes are automatically symmetrical instead of corner nodes like in GIMP. And you have to use another tool to convert them into corner nodes.

I have Adobe Master Collection CS3. ;) The quick selection with low tolerance works well too, but I'd like to see you try using it to cut out hair. :wall: Thats where the pen tool comes in handy, you can just outline the hair then set anchor points. Anyways, V. 3 Uploaded. I'm just about done with pretty boy. And no, that's not the final background. I'm thinking in the white zones, I'm going to have his titles, such as Rated 1 P4P. dsavi
The problem with those outward triangle stripe starburst things is that they are too overused, I would even say uncreative. Come up with your own background, it'll look a lot better.
woopidoo2
Haha, fix those shorts  The fur in the original photo had that certain shape, but it looks strange if you vectorize it. Keep it up. I never finish those big projects because I get bored of it most of the time. :) [http://woopidoo2.deviantart.com][Tip.it Moderator from Dec 10, 2006 to 03 Sep, 2008]

Shiny
Looking really good so far. This better win Piccie of the Month. I actually like the red and white triangles. Keep them.
Promise
Thanks for the feed back. And FYI, i said that wasn't how the background was going to be. There will be text within them stating his titles. Such as Rated 1 P4P, 6 time world boxing champion in 5 different classes, WBC Welterweight champion, undefeated champion of the world. yeah...you can say he's one of my idles. :geek:
Estonian dude
Idles or Idols? I really really like the outcome. Probably beacause I even don't know how to vectorize. So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends. RPG is constantly dealing with psycho exes.Muggi reminds us of the joys of polygamy.Saq is totally oblivious to how much chicks dig him.I strike out every other week.Kalphite wages a war against the friend zone.Randox pretty much stays rational.Etc, etc

VjuliusT
Thank you, I can finally comment on this thread. It looks good to be honest but I think his face could use slightly more detail. That's the only opinion I can give you as I have no experience with vectors.
Promise
V. 4 added. I see a few spots i need to touch up, like the blue section on his shorts and make the shading on his gloves stand out more.

Promise
V. 5 has been added. The end is finally in sight. With over 20 hours of work put into this, this will be the highlight of my album. I've enjoyed working on this piece. I've taught my self many new tricks for better shading, which is invaluable. I have future plans for large projects like this. For the background, i'll include the following text: Rated number 1 p4p (Pound for pound) boxer in the world. Six time world champion boxer in 5 different classes. WBC Welter weight champion. 39-0. 25 wins by KO. I'll try to fit it all. Considered one of the greatest boxers in history and my god. [hide=Future Vector] CLICK (Excuse the beat advert. But it's the only vid i could find that wasn't the weigh in) Heavy Weight is for big boys. [/hide]
