Easy Cheap Summoning Shards

Well, I just worked this out yesterday, so I thought I would post a guide.

 

We will be buying pouches and swapping them for shards in this guide.

 

You can talk to Bogrog at the Summoning Obelisk south of Yanille (in Gu'tanoth) to swap your pouches. Right-click Bogrog, select Swap, and then right-click the pouches in your inventory and select the number you want to swap. Note that in order to swap a pouch for shards, you must be at least 9 summoning levels above the level required to make that pouch. You will get a refund of 70% of the shards needed to make that pouch.

 

 

 

 

 

Step One, Buy x Amount of Pouches, I used bloated leech pouches (buy med because then price doesn't rise and they usually sell instant for me anyway)

 

Because I am Level 61 Summoning and you must be 9 level above the level needed, I used them.

 

 

 

 

Step Two, Go to Bogrog and swap the pouches for shards.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Now let's calc that

 

 

 

Shards usually cost 25 Gp each from Pikkupstix

 

25*116 (bloated leech) = 2030 Gp

 

We Bought the bloated leech for 1847, That is a save of 183 Gp

 

 

 

116/183 = That is 1.5 Gp saved per shard, Now in bulk, that can save you alot of money.

A nice tip, I was wondering is something like this was possible but was too lazy to look into it :P Trouble is once this is out it spreads like wildfire and the cost of pouches where this is profitable goes up fast. Enjoy it while you can, i'm regretting spending 3m on shards just a few days ago :lol:

Great idea. You could expand it by finding the best cost per shard, with different pouches.Then because you have to have +9 the pouches level to trade it in, you could do best price per shard for different summoning level ranges. Even though you don't have the level, it's a simple calculation. Just an idea on how to expand the guide.

I didn't know this was such uncommon knowledge - I thought everybody knew it. Bloated are the best option btw, look into pouches such as Geyser, green charm pouches in general, and a few more.

You could easily get rid of junk some other way; they still have a value. The way suggested is actually buying them for a lower value, not patching it.

I recommend you look into some other pouches and do some calculations to determine which pouches are the best ones to trade in for cheaper shards. This is a good guide, it just needs some expanding.

You don't always need +9. In certain summoning levels (e.g. between X and Y) you need Z more levels to exchange.

Don't people know this already? And it can get expensive the more shards you need.

Very nice, I'm always surprised how little people use this.

 

 

 

When I used this "trick", I managed to get my shards for around 22 each. So that's 3 gp saved and not 1.5 like you said. However, that was a few months ago. Yet, I still think there are some pouches left where you can still get for around 22 each.

 

 

 

And also, buying for 20 each on forums with junk = bad. Why? Junk has value too, and can be used for much better things (if you have it lying in your bank anyway, that is). Example?

 

 

 

Ive got 2 animal masks and 1 third age piece that I cant sell cause I dont have enough junk...

 

I cant lend out my godsword cause I dont have a decent amount of junk.

 

 

 

Conclusion: save your junk :D
