Sam
The trees look brilliant! Very, very good execution o the branches & leaves. The body (?) seems to not have very good anatomy and the sword (?) just doesn't look right to be honest. When you draw swords in rocks make sure you have a good reference of a sword hilt. Keep it up :) 2257AD.TUMBLR.COM
VjuliusT
Little I think that's a cross as in a cross in a pile of earth "as in a grave". Painting looks decent but the human in there looks weird, too pale in my opinion even if hes further away (unless it's a lot of mist...).
hiimben
Which parts did you actually do in it? Besides, obviously, the guy. Which as has been said is too vague and pale. I ask what parts you did as the skill level between the two is drastic, and your past work doesn't suggest the skill level to execute that quality of tree's. dsavi
Which parts did you actually do in it?Exactly. I doubt that you did the trees, somehow. And are the people supposed to be ghosts or something? :# Otherwise, even if you don't want them to attract attention, they are too pale.

That's usually fine, but in this case it really doesn't seem like you did a lot, and what you did could be a lot better in my opinion. pixel avvy by me deviantART

It's like renders, the only difference between using brushes/renders and outright stealing somebody elses work is that it's not (usually) illiegal. People need to just do their own work. Try not to overuse brushes. They are are great for textures you just can't achieve with a normal round brish but don't over do it. I'm against him not making clear what is his own work, and what isn't, as if he's trying to pass it off as his own.

There's a very large difference between, for instance, using someone's camera, and using someone's pictures. Photoshop doesn't do the work for you, it's a tool that allows you to do the work. Most people use brushes not as a tool, but as a stamp. Why draw trees when you have a tree brush? Why draw/model a sword when you can use a sword render? Mac_The_Rocker
Wow. I didn't expect a flame war from all of this. Firstly, I don't have a graphics tablet, and you'll be seeing more hand-drawn items from me once I can rack up 100$ to buy one (: Secondly, I never knew brushes were such a crime. As some of you older forum'rs may know, I've been a very dedicated pixel artist, which means I've done hundred of signatures from paint; also from scratch. I'll be honest, I was just amazed at the versatility of photoshop with the brush set I found :x Thirdly, it's my first one, I promise you then with my pinky figer (or bet my monkey), I'll improve on the various comments you posted. All your CC is relevant and thanks for it, I'd like to hear more :P Some things are best left unexamined.

I just hate it when people use them instead of their own work, instead of using them as a tool to enhance their own work.
Promise
In reality, brushes are very simple to make, well if we're talking about things like a grey tree. Just take a pic, cut it out, and save it as a brush setting. I've noticed lately that there's been more criticism about where people get their resources. If people wouldn't want other people using it, than don't post it on DA. Just remember give credit where credit is due. Back to your art, it looks pretty cool. I'm assuming their ghostly beings? unknowz
There's nothing wrong in using custom brushes, as long as you don't depend on them. What looks weird in this is the quality difference between the character and the tree. But yeah it's pretty annoying with a mouse, get a tablet and you won't regret it.
