SHIELZZZ69
Like I've read a lot of guides but i still can't work out how to actually train it up. I need to buy like pouches and shards then get charms then the like second ingredient to make pouch? I've got no idea tbh. Can somebody explain in easiest format possible how to train summoning? 99 Strength Achieved 26/9/08. L0L in 3 years I've made 7m. Troacctid
You train summoning by making pouches in the same fashion as the quest. You can look in the Game Guide, or in the summoning skill guide in your interface, for a list of the ingredients to all the pouches. Just take the ingredients you need to a charged obelisk like the one in Taverley, and use them to create pouches. -Empty pouches are stackable and cost 1 gp at the summoning stores in Taverley, Mort Myre, and Gu'Tanoth. -Spirit shards are stackable and cost 25 gp at the same shops, as well as being tradable on the Grand Exchange for the same price. -Gold, green, crimson, and blue charms are obtained only as monster drops (as well as the chests in Dorgesh-Kaan) and are not tradable. They're stackable. (Good monsters to kill for charms are waterfiends, dust devils, greater demons, black demons in the Chaos Tunnels, or just doing slayer tasks.) -The final ingredient varies depending on the pouch, and is usually something related to the familiar it summons, such as a bronze bar for a bronze minotaur or a banana for a fruit bat. If you put all those things together at a summoning obelisk, you'll make summoning pouches and get lots of experience. You can also get summoning experience for transforming pouches into scrolls, using pouches to summon familiars, and using the scrolls to activate the familiars' abilities. However, those provide trivial amounts of experience, often only a fraction of an experience point, and are not viable ways to train the skill. SHIELZZZ69
Wow thanks troacctid you explained everything. So you think i should take say 500 pouches 500 charms then 26 of the second ingredient? Also should i run from cws to taverly place then tele back using ring of dueling? Is that the fastest way? Also if i made say 275 dreadfowl pouches with the stuff i got from the quest do people actually buy the pouches? 99 Strength Achieved 26/9/08. L0L in 3 years I've made 7m. Italian5kamikaze
Dont forget the shards. People buy some pouches but I would just wait until you got the summoning level to trade them in for 75% of shards. Quit. PM me if you play The Conduit to exchange friend codes. Always fill the rest of your inventory with seconds (dont forget shards! You'll need a good few of those). As for what method you want to make pouches, it doesnt really matter untill later levels - the time you spend crafting pouches is nothing compared to collecting charms. Untill you get a kyatt however, that's probably the fastest method. Another good method is setting your POH house to taverly (is that the name of the place? ugh brain rotting away from all this exp grinding :-# ) and using home tele and walking from your house. SHIELZZZ69
So say i was making dreadfowl pouches. I'd just have like as many pouches as i have and as many shards as i have in inventory. Then 13 gold charms and 13 raw chickens? and if i was tabbing it to my house i'd just put a home tab in there? 99 Strength Achieved 26/9/08. L0L in 3 years I've made 7m. IF you have more then 13 gold charms feel free to bring them all, obviously the number of raw chickens stays the same, but it saves you the trouble of withdrawing charms every trip. SHIELZZZ69
Then couldn't i bring, house tele (leaves 26 invent spaces when using air staff) then all my gold charms all my shards and all my pouches. Then couldn't i take 23 raw chickens are still make 23 pouches? Lol i am such a noob at summoning. 99 Strength Achieved 26/9/08. L0L in 3 years I've made 7m. Yes - I was thinking you were using the balloon method which I'm not very familiar with - thought your weight limit got limited or something. Anyway, yeah, pack your invent as full of seconds as possible while mainting a quick way back to a bank and to the obelisk. SHIELZZZ69
Okay now i completely understand how to do summoning. I looked at Kent's summoning guide which was very helpful too. I'm looking to get to 52 summoning then later on 68. For 52 on Kent's guide it mostly says i need gold and green charms? I can use prayer pots if neccesary - so whats the best place to get green and gold charms? 99 Strength Achieved 26/9/08. L0L in 3 years I've made 7m. cat666
I get all my charms via slayer as it balances nicely. My advice would be to save blues for as long as you can though. Train with golds, greens and crimsons using the most cost efficient 2nd to you. Don't worry too much about shard cost as you'll get 70% of it back. If you can't be bothered with slayer then crimsons offer the best XP ratio. Waterfiends, Nechreals and Dust Devils are great for these. Skelly Wyverns I hear are the best droppers of these but are a bit of pain to get to and kill. If you're insistant on golds/greens. Golds are common from Fire Giants and Hellhounds (and I hear the new Armoured Zombies from Defender of Varrock quest) and greens from Bloodveld and metal dragons. Don't go hunting for blues as it's pointless but for information Kalphites and Gargolyes drop these more than most. Dark Beasts drop them pretty often and are the best dropper, but the 90 slayer requirement puts most people off. I don't DK, but the things in the DK lair drop them often too. Trust the Gene Genie! I can use prayer pots if neccesary - so whats the best place to get green and gold charms? The idea is to use slayer for your charms to get a fairly even variety, save up a bunch, and use all the weaker charms for the lower levels so that you have lots of better charms for the higher levels. But if you're not using slayer for charms, it's always best to aim for crimsons. The fastest crimsons are from using ancient magicks ice spells on rock lobsters deep in the Waterbirth dungeon if you're willing to blow loads of cash. After that is killing waterfiends, which takes some good stats and equipment to do well. If you can't do either of those, go to dust devils until you have high enough stats for waterfiends, and the profit you get from them should be enough for the equipment you need. And if you can't fight dust devils, it makes sense then to train slayer for your charms. Read my blog | Follow me on Twitter | Track my XP
obfuscator
to train slayer you need: charms, shards, pouches, and secondary ingredients. THe charm denotes the property that summon will have, such as combat, beast of burden etc. The shard infuses the magic i guess :P the pouch is to hold the summon :P the secondary ingredient is to say what summon it will make you can buy shards for 25 gp ea and pouches for 1 gp ea from pikupstix(sp) at taverly the secondary ingredients you can probably buy on ge :) the charms you can collect while training the best charm droppers are: gold: fire giants green: bloodvelds crimson: rock lobsters, waterfeinds, greater demons, dust devils blue: You will get these fairly irregularly while collecting other charms to maximise the xp per charm, you will want to use gold, green, crim, and blue in that order make the best thing you can at your lvl, tipit summoning planner will be helpful :) "It's not a rest for me, it's a rest for the weights." - Dom Mazzetti
SHIELZZZ69
When i get 70 defence and 70 prayer and my attack up abit do you think i could be able to do waterfiends efficiently? I'd wear helm of neiz, fury, karils top and bottum, d boots, barrow gloves, zerker ring, zammy spear or veracs flail, and a fire cape or trimmed skillcape. Thanks everybody for the input too. Also what is this 70% shards getting back for pouches thing? 99 Strength Achieved 26/9/08. L0L in 3 years I've made 7m. In the past 2 days I've made 7.2m on top of that thanks to Bounty Hunter. Inuashakent
Found from my Summoning guide... When you complete Wolf whistle, you should understand how Summoning works, but I'll type this down for anybody who doesn't know. You can summon familiars with this skill, and it lasts for a certain amount of time before it "dissapears". These can help you in combat, skills, hold items for you, make items for you, and boost skills. They have a certain time limit, and they drain your summoning points for summoning them, and having them out. You need a certain amount of summoning points to summon them, but they stay until your familiar timer runs out. You can summon these "familiars" using pouches. You make these pouches by making one at an Obelisk. The materials required are: A colored charm, shards, a blank pouch, and a secondary ingredient. These pouches can also be turned into 10 Scrolls, which is basically a special attack. A special attack differs for each familiars, and it takes a certain amount of their special bar.
