October 7, 200817 yr Hi, I visit off-topic a lot and I like to browse a lot of the threads about sports, but the problem is that they're really spread out sometimes and hard to find. A lot of people who post in off-topic, but not in the sports threads get annoyed by the sports threads too. I think it would be great if you could add a sport section in off topic. Thanks!
October 7, 200817 yr It is a good idea, but I don't think that it will get enough activity, as I have only seen a handful of sports topics in Off Topic. My relaxation method involves a bottle of lotion, beautiful women, and partial nudity. Yes I get massages.

October 8, 200817 yr It would be a seasonal forum. Activity for these two months, activity for this month, dead for this month, dead for the 4 month stretch...and pretty much how it would go. There are enough topics to keep the forum going for an entire year for sure, but the interest isn't great enough for these topics or issues to be posted, or aren't known about. The users of Tip.It aren't sport fanatics, but are usually those interested in literature, gaming, or e-thugs.
October 8, 200817 yr No. It has been suggested many times before. There are simply not enough sports topics to create a forum, let alone an active one. The less forums there are, the better. The only time to create one is when it is absolutely necessary.
October 8, 200817 yr Although it has been knocked back time and time again, I wouldn't see the harm in having one. I've never been a fan of a sports forum but thinking about it, it won't just be about National/International Sports, it could be about sports questions, gym questions (like the working out topic), nutrition maybe, just social sports. I don't think it would be dead at all. ^Sir Jem 05-The Bunny Drinking Blog?^ Click it!

You do realise sport goes on throughout the year, don't you? I mean, if you want two sports that go together to instantly fill up a calendar in the UK, there's football and rugby league. Football plays through the winter, rugby league plays through summer. There's a whole load of other sports too. To prove my point, the NFL thread is averaging about 2 posts a day. The advertisement sticky is averaging less than one. Given there are more sport events than the NFL, and more countries in the world than the US, I think it's reasonable to have a board for sports, and other physical activities and general lifestyle+health advice. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
October 8, 200817 yr I still don't think it would be used enough to justify it. Having one or two megathreads for a certain sport/competition is already enough in my opinion.
October 8, 200817 yr I think the scope for the forum count has pretty much been reached. Like most people who suggest a forum, the main reasons it doesn't happen is because we don't have enough activity in that area. If there was, the forum would have already been made.
October 9, 200817 yr I am a big sports fan, and I wouldn't mind seeing a sports forum. The only thing is, the big events such as playoffs and olympics and super bowl don't happen every week. If you could make the case that a good amount of people would use it, with a wide selection of topics, then I think that would help you out. Here let me help out a bit with topics: Game of the week Top plays Football Soccer Rugby Baseball Basketball Olympics Weights (how much do you lift?) Winter Sports Summer Sports Hockey Intramural Sports Tell us your best sport story! ETC. And some of those topics are REALLY general. I think there would be a good amount of topics, my only worry is how many are going to use that forum? That, my friend, I do not have the answer for. I don't know how many people you would need for such a forum, but I think it could still be worthy of a forum or subforum. A reflection is just a distorted reality held by glass and your mind.
October 9, 200817 yr Even if it wouldn't suffer a lack of activity(a sports sub-forum) I don't think it's a good idea to split off topic up more than it already is.
October 9, 200817 yr When the Video games subforum was made, there wasn't really Video game topics spewing all over OT. As soon as a subforum is made, topics get made. So the excuse that there isn't enough topics made doesn't really work. ^Sir Jem 05-The Bunny Drinking Blog?^ Click it!
October 10, 200817 yr When the Video games subforum was made, there wasn't really Video game topics spewing all over OT. As soon as a subforum is made, topics get made. So the excuse that there isn't enough topics made doesn't really work. But if we keep removing [the most popular] topics from OT the quality of discussion there will surely go down. If it aint broke, don't fix it. There's not too many people complaining over it is there?
